Keep killing it dude. I hate to admit how much, as a dude in his 30s, I want to hear you cover some more Taylor. Some Self Titled/Fearless era deeper cuts are begging for some pop punk angst. Tell Me Why and I'm Only Me When I'm With You are two in particular that stand out.

this is crazy -- I've loved that original one of yours since I first listened to it, and listening to them back to back, you can hear the difference of 10 years of experience. your old one is younger, more naive; this one is much more mature. love both, hard to top that first one, but somehow you manage to pull through as always.

Also, I still think this was always destined to be a pop punk track instead of a country song. Even when Swift did it, there was just this edge to it.
I saw her live on the 1989 tour, and she played this with a fender jazz master as “punk” as she could. It was the best song of the night

Amazing retake on this cover! Love your pop punk stuff as that was where my music taste grew up from, and being sad to see pop punk off the mainstream. But then seeing how you changed modern pop into something more pop punk really just wowed me.
As someone who doesn't know where to start in terms of making music, have you considered making a video about how you go about recording one of your covers? It would be awesome to see your methods and thought processes, and maybe get some tips along the way.

Both version are good in their own right. The new one sounds better, but is a little softer, while the original is more aggressive, but sound harsher.

this was cool! but one thing I liked about the first version was the ad lib "Like forever" line you did, it felt like more of a live performance vibe. it was still neat to see how your cover style evolved

You hit the nail 100% on the head with this one. I've heard that in order to cover a song successfully, you must perform it like it was never anyone else's song and I think you did that well with this one.
Tbh Taylors songs, especially of this era, have so much teenage or highschool angst in them this is just a super natural fit!
