So for the Jenny Jones part. Scott had been sexually harassing John for quite a long time. When producers approached John about a secret admirer show, he agreed only if it wasn't Scott. Producers lied to him. After the show Scott still didn't stop the harrassment. Not an excuse to kill the guy, just more info for the first case.

I'm from Myanmar. I was surprised to see the saffron revolution in my country in your video, and I want to say thank you very much for sharing our story. I was 16 years old when this tragedy happened and did not know how bad it was at that time because TV and media/news were under the military government's control and did not dare to expose what was really happening to the public. It wasn't until 2015 that I moved abroad, had good access to the internet, and saw numerous footage videos of violent crackdowns on peacefully protesting monks and civilians. The realization of being fed with lies all these years and seeing how innocent people died at that time boiled my blood and made me vengeful. But I did not know much about the story of that Japanese journalist until I saw your video, and I feel extremely sorry for him and his family. I hope his family finds peace right now. To this day, we are still fighting these brutal military b*stards who are, at the point of writing this, killing and bombing innocent men, women, and children. The UN has been sitting, watching, issuing sad reports, and doing nothing for 3 years regarding the military coup in my country, Myanmar. However, we will not back down and continue our fight for justice and freedom with or without the help of the UN and other nations. Again, thank you for including our story in your video. we will never forget Mr.Kenji Nagai and what he did, and we will bring justice for him and other innocent lives.

One more fact about Ghostwatch: viewers were able to call the phone number that's being displayed throughout the film, where they would be met with a pre-recorded message stating that everything was fictional. However, with thousands of people calling in at the same time, the lines got jammed and callers were instead met with total silence instead of the message. This reportedly led to even more mystery and fear during the airing.

For instance, the Blair Witch Project was the very first of it's time and left a lot of people extremely confused and wondering if it was even real (especially since part of the advertising were missing posters for the fictional characters), meanwhile now you could find analogue horror in a split second on RUclips and most people are totally desensitized to it
It's easy to judge a different time period for many things, but culture varies so much in ways we can't even comprehend. 30 years from now, there's gonna be people mocking us for many things that are popular or unknown right now. There'll always be illogical beliefs that seem reasonable at the time due to the culture and emotions fueling it. It's why so many unnecessary and avoidable events based on nonsense have occurred, like McCarthyism. With the right environment, you can get most people to believe a lot of things

I want to add a small correction to the "Wetten dass..." accident: You described it as the show came up with the challenges, but the participant are pitching the idea to the show. The show's name translates to "I bet that..." and was usually about strange or silly talents. I remember when they had a kids segments where kids could identify multiple Lego pieces by the sound of of them being sucked by a vacuum cleaner. Over time, the stunts got bigger and bigger until the accident. This was pre-streaming age and everyone in Germany watched that show back then. No other channel tried to air something big when "Wetten dass" was scheduled. I cannot describe how impactful this was back then and how unreal it felt seeing this live on television.

It makes the whole incident a tragedy all around. The victim pitched the idea that made him quadriplegic. He didn't discontinue after he whiffed the second car. And the host fell on his own sword over decisions he probably had little control over, bringing the show down with him. What a tragedy that was for EVERYONE involved. There was no negligence or malign intent - it was a true accident and an honest mistake by the show's producers.

Here’s another moment you could add to one of your videos. The incident is called "La noche de Tláhuac” or "El linchamiento de Tláhuac". Happened in 2004 in México. Won’t get into much detail but during the night of November 23, three federal policemen that were investigating drug trafficking networks were mistakenly taken as kidnappers by the citizens of the community, reportes of different Mexican networks arrived on scene and broadcast how the community tied, beat and lastly burn them alive, so basically they were lynched while everything was being broadcasted on national television. The policemen explained several times they were federal agents and gave their names, but the people didn’t believe them. Prior to the incident, citizens reported a wave of crimes that never got investigated, so that night they decided to do justice on their own. The police arrived on scene after two of them were dead and a third one survived. Later on it was confirmed that in fact they were federal agents and there were no consequences for the people who committed this crime. Sometimes it just amazes me how TV used to be back then,

Great video. I was a kid when Ghostwatch aired, but I still remember it vividly. Michael Parkinson wasn’t the only non-actor on the show. Sarah Greene, Mike Smith, and Craig Charles were all popular BBC presenters who played themselves (though Craig was also an actor). That made it even more believable.
In the run-up to the show, they advertised it as “Screen One presents”, and they showed clips, yet for some reason we all bought into the idea that it was live. My sister and I started watching it in our bedroom and we missed the first part because we could hear our parents and we didn’t want them to know we were watching, so we missed the disclaimer at the beginning.
My dad was a pastor so things like Ghostwatch were supposed to be off-limits, but we eventually got caught. Instead of punishing us, my parents decided it was better to watch the rest of the show together as a family in the living room so they could reassure us and so we wouldn’t feel like we needed to sneak behind their backs to watch it. I still really respect them for that.

The Jenny Jones thing rubs me the wrong way, at first I thought "he was a violent person and did it because he embarrassed him" but when you said it was because Scott kept flirting with him afterwards, specially after seeing that he felt bad after murdering him, it seems like he was a victim a sexual stalking, its really sad :( I hope hes ok and he gets out of jail soon tbh
The Samuel case is really vile too, I get he was a pro at what he used to do and he knew the consequences, but for the show to put his dad in the car they knew exactly what they were doing, but I'm glad he ended up in good terms with everyone.

Seeing Samuel waving at his dad gave me a pit in my stomach and I thought for sure he was about to die on national television with his father accidentally killing him. The following footage remind me of when Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin was hit in a game in January 2023 and fell down in cardiac arrest. The way the footage went on, with the announcers just continuing to recount what had happened and the cameras following the trainers, the ambulance, and then just panning to the shocked and distressed crowd and teams for the remainder of the game time was really eerie and distressing. My wife was watching the game while I napped in my recliner and she woke me up to tell me what'd happened and we continued to watch together once I was fully awake. I actually dozed back off at first for about 20 minutes and thought I'd dreamt what'd happened (my diabetes was not under control at that point and I was insanely tired from eating dinner, hence the dozing).

Even if we were bffs and super close. That’s humiliating AF to have him come on the show and be told all these DETAILED homosexual fantasies, in front of a massive audience, not to mention the thousands of people nationwide that would’ve watched on tv had it aired like normal.
That was also a different time too.. people weren’t as accepting as they are today, so I’m sure he would’ve had to deal with people calling him gay or having people come up to him and bringing up the episode when I’m sure he wouldn’t have wanted to think about let alone talk about it. Everyone was gross to different degrees in the first segment. Scott was gross for saying out loud really, really skeevy sexual stuff he wanted to do to John, and sexually harassing and stalking a het guy who had stated a disinterest.
Jenny Jones was horrible for provoking and encouraging two people who would go onto becoming a sex pest and his homophobic killer respectively.
And as for John - the POLICE were the correct people to call after that behaviour from Scott. But John here skipped several rather important steps here, didnt he. Instead of dialing 999/911 He armed himself with a shotgun, broke into someones property, and murdered that man in front of a friend. And I am convinced that instead of killing him because he felt threatened, he really did it because he felt embarissed. His own defence tried to claim gay panic, but he copped for second degree murder. For once, the conviction and sentence was halfway reasonable.
    A miserable story all around.

(and sorry for hijacking your comment for a reply rant but i had to scroll further than i would have liked, for anyone having mentioned this video segment and aaa. so many comments going 'wow good video' meanwhile not that much sympathy(?, idk the right word) for all the affected people :( . its surreal in the most disheartening sense)

The Good thing was he didn’t die, yeah it sucked seeing him paralyzed but it would’ve been 10x Worse if his dad was the one who killed him

I remember the ghost watch thing. I was very young but it left a big impression. What he doesn’t say is that both Sarah greene and Craig Charles were also tv presenters and playing themselves, not just Parky. Sarah Greene was actually a kids tv presenter on Saturday mornings too so I can see why especially a kid would take it completely seriously. Weird times 😂

The moment the Wetten Das Segment started I knew exactly what accident you're going to talk about. I was just a kid back then so I didn't see this myself, but it has been on the news for months and it was just so horrible. Everytime I see someone perform this kind of stunt I think back to this accident and I wish people would stop doing this, it's not worth it imo.

I listen to true crime content all the time. I’ve heard the details of some of the worst serial killer crimes. That second story is genuinely one of the most horrific things I’ve ever listened to…. To do that to someone you married… the mother of your child… is just pure evil
