Two things I found on the Wikipedia Article on the Xuxa Park fire: - One person was struggling to get out, but Xuxa's bodyguard returned to aid her out. - Xuxa would visit those who were hospitalized in the incident. Overall, it's a relief to know no one had died!
It's too bad this show wasn't allowed to continue after the mandatory safety updates. Houdini always said it was immoral to force an audience to participate in what could be a death sentence, so his feats and stunts were always so meticulously planned that they were no more dangerous than if he were sitting on a couch at home. The other two escape artists may have wanted to learn a thing or two from him instead of wanting to outperform him.
It seems crazy to me that little planning was done? As in, he didn't look into the box's materials or its construction, the weight/amount/set time of the concrete, the amount of time before O2 is depleted/CO2 builds-up, back-up plans, etc.? One thing that I feel no one is mentioning is how awful I feel for the woman in the first story. She seemed like such a good celebrity and her show looked super fun, and she had it ripped away through no fault of her own. Hope she’s ok today
Even after the tragedy her career survived. After a few years, she presented several more shows. She was a staple of children's TV shows up to around 2009 (my memory is fuzzy on this part). She even had a couple with the same level of elaborate scenography. But I believe with not the same capacity of children on it. Started in a couple of movies for kids and even launched a series of DVDs with kids' songs. And after that, she took some time away from TV and when she returned moved to do more regular talk shows and presenting a version of Dancing with the Stars at some point. She is virtually retired, and still very much loved by the several generations of kids that grew up with versions of her show. (Edit: typos)
Why _would_ anyone mention how you’re feeling? We don’t know, and I would hazard a guess, that no one even considered your feelings into relation to this video, because, quite frankly, why would we? 😆
Fun fact about Xuxa: she worked for brazilian television since 1979, but when internet popularized in Brazil people started to spread tons of creepypastas about her (if you played her CD's backwards it would spawn devils etc) and even impute that the fire at her studio was caused because a "pact" she did with Satan. But when Stranger Things aired in 2016, Netflix did a collab promotional video with her where she mocks the cursed aura people gave her, a true queen herself
I remember watching morning cartoons as a kid in the U.S. and her show seemed to just come out of nowhere. It was like the channel was taken over by a circus performer in the land of Oz. I had no idea what it was. I figured she was Russian. Haha. She was clearly popular and had a great energy about her though. I also remember a TV show that came on about the same time where kids would don velcro suits and run around a maze or something sticking Nintendo video games to their bodies. It was a fun time.

I don't understand the backlash against to catch a predator and the police with that case. He was a paedophile. They confronted him. He shot himself. They had the evidenced already. He was soliciting minors. It doesn't matter he didn't show up. He was still sending explicit pics and soliciting minors. His own guilt/embarrassment/ killed him
Of course it's unjust that the show likely was cancelled due to people in power being exposed, but I think outrage is justified since these ppl weren't actually punished due to charges not sticking because of the way the team working with the show handled it.

This is the reason why Jeffrey Epstein's Client List is a matter of national security. I hope this clears your question.
It's because it didn't follow "standard procedure." They argued that the crew being there ready to blast him on national television was just the additional push he needed to end his life instead of complying. @@boianko Is very documented, because the channel paied all the treatment for the injuried ones. The two most famous cases are the Xuxa security guard that rescued several children, had pulmonar problems from the smoke inhalation and the 7 years-old girl that was traped on a ferris wheel that was very close of the space ship and had 2nd and 3rd burns.
The fact that it only took seconds for the Xuxa set to go on fire was so scary. Literally only a few moments and everything was gone. It’s a miracle no one was killed.
That's the funny thing about fires that burn that fast. They generally don't last long enough to cause too many serious injuries. Like with the Hindenburg, for instance, the fire injuries were all minor burns with only a couple of people getting 2nd degree burns. The worst injuries were from some who fell, but no one died and none needed extensive care afterwards.
Just for comparison, same country, get the Boate Kiss (a nightclub) fire, where again it happened in a matter of seconds due improper use of fireworks indoors. Most casualties weren't due burning, but intoxication. Many guys went out of there unharmed, talked to reporters and went back to help rescue people trapped in there. They weren't even scorched at all. They died hours later due intoxication. Those gases generated by the fire were as deadly as any chemical weapons. Moreover, fire certificates were expired, most emergency doors were blocked (maybe to avoid sneaking? Idk) and the nightclub used foam on the ceiling to help contain the noise. Turns out foam is as inflammable as petrol.
It is honestly so horrifying to think that in a few moments if that fire didn't go off when it did and would've gone off later, Xuxa might've been caught in the flames herself. I'm glad no one was killed in the fire however, and I'm also glad they got that kid out when they did
I actually cried at the story of Shannon and his son. That poor kid must have gone through so much, I hope he’s doing better and I hope his Dad is in a better place.

Light fixtures amped with a hum. Popping sounds were heard everywhere, surge protectors melted, then came that smell as you said. Our house didn't burn down, but that smell tainted the house for some time. Like burning metal, whatever plastics from the outlets. Its such a distinct smell I will never forget.
The most impressive thing about the Xuxa incident: No one was seriously injured, the only injuries were from smoke inhalation, which also means they all made full recoveries.
Except for the kid that was trapped in the ferris wheel, he got second and third degree burns and his airways almost got completely blocked, but thankfully he survived.
The staff including Xuxa were pretty responsive to the fire, rushed to get the kids out and got to the trapped kid in time despite the absolute chaos and intense heat surrounding them. They did the best they could given the circumstances, that’s why nobody died. At least in my opinion anyway.
The Shannon Stone story is just unspeakably heartbreaking. He wanted to catch the ball for his son like his own father did for him when he was a child. I hope his son is doing alright. Josh Hamilton too.
That was just hella stupid all I could do is shake my head what’s up with people trying to knock on deaths door in the guise of living their best life it makes no sense
The baseball story is sooo sad. Feel horrible for everyone involved. I’m sure the pitcher feels overwhelming guilt even though it wasn’t his fault. I worked at a baseball field and it’s part of the fun when they toss the ball out for fans to keep and happens at least twice a game every game. You’d never expect it to end in tragedy. I can’t imagine the trauma for his son and the rest of the witnesses.
I heard the team briefly considered ending throwing balls to fans, but Shannon’s family said no, he wouldn’t want a beloved tradition like that to end on his account.
I love how the media unilaterally decided to attack to catch a predator. As if certain people of power that practice in the same activities wanted it off the air to not be the next person exposed.
Or perhaps because it actually compromised real cases. In a majority of cases the perps got off on technicalities because the actions of the vigilantes and the show's producers violated the legal process.
When they started showing the buried alive stunt I thought "Oh yeah, I've seen this one, the concrete suddenly moves and the magician dies" and was surprised at the survival. I'd seen the fatal one that had happened where the exact same problem had occurred. To repeat the same dumb trick that killed someone else a few years prior and not try to fix the bit that went wrong? Pure stupidity.
The last story makes me so mad, so many people failed at their job, so many of them could have helped that poor woman, to have the last memory you have on earth to be of a reporter completely disrespecting your mourning of your daughter must be one of the worst fates there is
@truanalain42662 not surprised. Sometimes you wonder why they even exist. When you need help, they either refused or attack. I feel bad for those with dark skin who are discriminated by them. Hell, this one lady was very disrespected by the police when she reported an attempted car theft. Why can't they hire anyone competent these days?
I think she deserved to die, gods will, if a woman never let me have any rights to raising my own daughter who I love very much and finding out she got pregnant at 15 and killed herself under that woman’s care that would be one dead woman, hats off to that man cause he loved his daughter very much and that evil woman didn’t deserve any more days alive

As a woman who physically can’t have kids (after battling cancer) the child abuse Ariel put her daughter through made me angry and sick. Punch a wall, scream or throw something if you need to, but never, ever harm a child. What an absolute monster 😒☹️
Yep I agree. For those that find themselves getting angry I beg you go to the bathroom and remind yourself that the things that may be annoying you are literally your babys childhood and these memories will stay with them forever once they have grown up and moved out. You will get plenty of time to yourself later in life. There is no excuse to abuse children. None at all. Ask for help if you can't control yourself. Save your child. Be honest and ask for help. It's ok to ask for help. It is never ok to abuse a child.
@@AboveWater This is why I hope I never have children and will always stay far away from vulnerable people, because I have mental issues that makes me lash out..
@@AboveWater reminds of that white gay couple that killed their adopted blacks kids by driving off a cliff or the more recent case of the the white family locking their black kids in an outhouse
@@AboveWaterit’s much more difficult than that but still agree. The only problem I have is the fact that she obviously wasn’t mentally well enough to have kids in the first place. Like at this point it’s not an adoption/foster problem. It’s deadass a parent problem.
It’s important to note that in the William Conradt TCAP case, he had actually committed a crime by engaging in sexual chats with an underage child, and the police ultimately made he decision to go to his house after learning of his position as an assistant DA. They also found after the fact that he had CP and evidence of corruption that actually led to jail time for others on his computer, which is most likely contributed to his decision to take his own life. IMO the media firestorm that resulted after his suicide only led to 25 horrible people walking free and didn’t actually accomplish anything useful. I feel no sympathy for him.
This is why I fucking hate vigilantes both on tv and irl; like you’re not the police and you setting your own personal „sting“ to catch them in the act to have them arrested is borderline entrapment (which is illegal) and any evidence for that person would most likely be inadmissible due to people being ignorant and playing police officer themselves. So yes I’m glad these shows are getting cancelled; they’re morally grey and in the end they inadvertently fucked a case and released 2 dozen criminals into the world. Anyone who takes the law into their own hands should be in prison
@@FlexedNoose it’s not entrapment, TCAP worked with the police and stayed uninvolved in he arrests of the suspects, and the evidence being dropped for the 25 other men in the sting is the result of an incompetent DA who fell prey to a media firestorm. Not gonna cry over a dead pedo.
My heart just broke hearing about the dad, trying to catch the baseball, for his son. May he rest easily. So sorry for the son, and the family and friends

You remember the three women who were held captive for a decade in Cleveland, Ohio? The local news show discovered the man, who tortured them, made an appearance on their program. He was part of a band that performed on a segment to show off local talent. Although not a killer, it’s still chilling.
He might have technically been a killer. They were preparing to investigate him for forcing the three women to have abortions or forcibly miscarrying fetuses he had conceived when he killed himself in prison.
I was in rehab and read a book about one of the girls. I think it was called finding home or finding me. That book was so good but I feel terrible for 3girls
Seriously 5 days after adopting that sweet baby girl?? FIVE DAYS! I hope that couple rots in prison. Making her walk in public in underwear and beating her just because she was sick, threw up, and didn’t have an appetite. That story made me physically sick and teary eyed.

Oh I just thought he hit the deck behind their car in case Nunez started shooting at them. I can’t really tell whose feet those are at the end walking away though, so if it was Nunez, then I guess the cameraman wouldn’t have been safe regardless. But idk.
The Shannon Stone story is a testament of how much he loved his son. His last words were concerning his concern for his son. 😢 I hope his son will remember his father and be as good a father as his was.
Someone dropped the son's Twitter and apparently he's a baseball player himself now and his header is a picture of him and his dad. So I think he carries his father's memory very well
as a local to the Arlington area where the Texas Rangers stadium is, I think the statue honoring Shannon was one of the greatest decisions they could’ve made it reminds everyone of the love that man had for his son every time they pass by, what a way to keep a memory alive
my worst fear is getting buried alive so watching the section on those stunts made that fear feel very valid. it's tragic that Joe died in such a horrible way and knowing his death could've been prevented if people weren't negligent breaks my heart. I was at the Rangers game where Shannon Stone died. My dad was a huge Rangers fan at the time and Hamilton was my favorite player--tossing his catches into the stands is something he used to do pretty regularly iirc. I was on the upper deck on 3rd base side and watched Shannon fall. I was 11 at the time, and it pretty radically altered my perception of life.
The facts that everyone was turning against To Catch A Predator and the disgusting monster's sister was defending her evil brother are just absolutely sickening. Imagine trying to defend a pedophile and everyone is okay with it. That is so angering.
Despite the extremely devastating events I think it’s incredibly beautiful for Shannon stone to be there forever as a statue in the stadium with his son.
The Shannon Stone story hurts the most cause not only was the sons life ruined, Josh Hamilton never recovered from that moment a son without a father, a family without a husband, and Josh Hamiltons career ultimately derailed, a truly devastating moment
Definitely. Hamilton was never the same after that and he also fell back into his addictions from it. From what I remember he was pretty clean for a few years until a few months after that incident
From what I read his son is doing perfectly fine, his life is not "ruined" of course his father dying like that was traumatizing but I don't like when people assume that you absolutely cannot overcome your traumas and that your life is horrible for the rest of your life. That kind of attitude isn't healthy or right towards the victim of trauma(s). I have complex PTSD and I'm doing perfectly fine now, I'm actually the happiest I have been. Sure, my life has been hard and traumatic but it's not ruined.
That poor little baby who was beaten to death by that monster... It's sickening. I have a 4 year old and 3 year old. Sure, they can be frustrating, but it's truly my worst nightmare that any harm would come to them. Also, not that it really matters, but one is adopted and I love her exactly the way i love my bio kiddo. Only mentioning that since Victoria was the adopted daughter of Ariel.
I've had almost the same thing that happen to her my mom ex Jason c Culbertson killed a child that wasn't even born after he was drunk broke through the window and I wasn't even there to protect them.
It’s honestly a miracle nobody died in the Xuxa Park incident. Was honestly expecting to hear the worst but I think the show itself being the only thing beyond the set not to survive is better than I thought could have happened.
The crew was absolutely on top of everything to get all those kids out with minor injuries and no losses, especially on a set like that and everyone all over the place doing their own thing.
My jaw dropped the moment you explained the Xuxa Park disaster. It was a story barely told outside of Brazil (I'm not from there), and I'm glad this has been publicized, because it is deeply disturbing.
My mother once met Ingrid Cruz (the reporter for the Maritza Martin murder) at a hair salon once. She apparently suffered from PTSD from the incident and quit her job soon after.
@@aceous99 I felt worse for Emilio. You have a guy who's daughter killed herself, and then reporters bombarding you with some of the most insensitive questions of all time; and last the person you blame the most just randomly showed up? He really needed help.
Good she deserves to have PTSD after that. You wouldn't like it if someone bombarded you about a dead relative over said relatives grave. What a bitch.

@@coffeecrimegal5968 my thoughts exactly, lol. white privilege, justice, equality, black lives matter.... these buzzwords never indicate something good lol
For all the baseball fans out there. The Shannon Stone event is very likely what caused Josh Hamiltons relapse. I don’t think he ever forgave himself for that even though it’s obvious not something he could’ve helped
No doubt about it. He was never the same player after that, of all the players for that to happen to, it was him with the crippling addiction problems. Just a tragedy all around
The baseball one reminded me of my childhood friend Mike. He went with his dad to buy something at a corner store, but when his dad got out of the car, he was hit by an oncoming car, flung across the road, and hit again by another vehicle. In the process he was beheaded by the impacts. All right in front of Mike. He lives with that vision in his mind to this day. I can't barely imagine.
Nothing is more blood boiling and vile in this episode than that child murderer who ended little Victoria's life so soon. I'm glad that subhuman will never see the light again. And Shannon's story is sad and heart wrenching beyond words too, he deserves that statue erected in his memory 🙌
@@user-oh5gz4ue6r overt for a child killer?? One of the worst threats facing our society today is us always having to be politically correct. We need to start calling out criminals like these using the worst titles possible to express the true depravity of their actions. If you ask me, 'subhuman' is too kind of a word for such criminal. And please we also need to stop throwing the R word around for basically any reason, this will make it lose its actual meaning. Hope you got what I'm trying to say.
"We would grant you a restraining order, but we don't want to make that person upset." *Brilliant legal logic in play* "We know he threatened to kill you, but we are worried that if we grant a restraining order against him, he WILL kill you. However, by not granting the restraining order, you have no legal cause to keep him at bay. Good luck."
Restraining orders don't do jack 💩 it's only a peace of paper that says to stay away from someone and no contact and if they violate that they can face consequences. On the other hand if they gave the person a restraining order that person might get upset and take drastic measures to cause harm to that person they were told to stay away from 🤦 stupidity at best. It's if a parent tells their child not to do something it makes them want to do it even more. Don't speak on things you clearly can't comprehend
That actually does make a lot of sense honestly. I had to flee the state before cause someone my family had a restraining order against wasn't worried about a peace of paper. It won't protect you.
Yep. Restraining orders work against relatively normal people who are so bad at contrlling their emotions that they are losing control and are escalating the situation. So in such a case they are brought back to reality, like "what have I become", or "Oops, I will have troubles with the law, I should step back"... But it won't work against a psycho. That guy didn't care that he will spend the rest of his life in jail, obviously a restraining order wouldn't have stopped him either. I do know a few recent cases where there was a restarining order against a perpetrator and he simply ignored it and went and killed the victim.

To catch a predator being cancelled for doing a public service is wild. How can it even be legal to sue them?
Mainly because their practices were shoddy and sometimes downright illegal, leaving the official prosecutors open to their legal proceedings against the perps failing. There's been numerous occasions where the TCAP "investigations" led to offenders not being charged or even being acquitted due to tainted evidence or straight-up entrapment.
As problematic as it sounds, even predators have a right to due process, and some vigilante show ain't helping the authorities in prosecuting these sickos one bit - sometimes they actually help the perps.
Because they weren't law enforcement, and the system ended up having to free literally everyone the show "caught". It was televised vigilante justice at BEST. Just because it involves kids doesn't mean you get to take the law into your own hands.
@@FringeSpectre it’s all on video, and they have actual police involved in every string, so not sure what you’re talking about.
Thinking about how set fires usually go this is spot-on. Remember Great white and that other band? They were not so lucky.

As soon as you said the Xuxa incident was due to electrical failure, it touched so close to home. My family very recently just went through an electrical fire tragedy, though all of us, our animals and majority of our material items got out safe- There is no smell that has tainted my memory more than the smell of an electrical fire burning. Electrical fires have a distinct, traumatizing smell.
During a storm a light pole went out near our house. Something about a switch? Well it routed the excess electricity to our house and essentially overcharged the whole household.
Man the firefighter dad's story made me tear up, it's so sad that a man making a minor miscalculation trying to make his son happy ended so tragically

Hopefully now they put a safety net
I actually cried. 🫡
I heard the team briefly considered ending throwing balls to fans, but Shannon’s family said no, he wouldn’t want a beloved tradition like that to end on his account.
Sadly, the player who threw the ball was a recovering drug addict. He ended up relapsing and I wonder how much this incident had to do with that.
The pitcher didn't toss it lol

Yep I agree. For those that find themselves getting angry I beg you go to the bathroom and remind yourself that the things that may be annoying you are literally your babys childhood and these memories will stay with them forever once they have grown up and moved out. You will get plenty of time to yourself later in life. There is no excuse to abuse children. None at all. Ask for help if you can't control yourself. Save your child. Be honest and ask for help.

Yep. Restraining orders work against relatively normal people who are so bad at contrlling their emotions that they are losing control and are escalating the situation. So in such a case they are brought back to reality, like "what have I become", or "Oops, I will have troubles with the law, I should step back"... But it won't work against a psycho.
