      1. Do not let your young children watch hellish, violent, torture-porn and horror movies like the SAW, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, and Jason Voorhees franchises, etc.
      2. Shield your children from all violent movies in general.
      3. Choose your spouse wisely, make a commitment and stick to it. (Provided they're a quality person.)
      4. Do not let your child have unfettered, unfiltered access to the internet on any device.
      5. Your child shouldn't be spending anytime on a iMac or similar devices. Go outside or read a book and learn something that doesn't include a screen.

The thing that has always bothered me about the deranged man talking to himself while knocking on the lady's door, is that the man had already turned to leave, was indeed leaving, and was even closer to the road than he was the house, when the "hero husband" thought it would be a good idea to then CALL HIM BACK TO THE HOUSE, using an aggravated, aggressive, escalating tone of voice, even though HE'S NOT EVEN THERE TO BACK IT UP!! All he accomplished by antagonizing him further, was an ESCALATION of the already terrifying scenario, and he did so even though he wasn't physically there to defend his wife. Look folks, I know it's tempting to engage a person like this, ESPECIALLY if you're doing so to protect your home and loved ones, and had this psycho STILL BEEN LOCATED RIGHT OUTSIDE THE FRONT DOOR, I would have done the same type of thing. HOWEVER, IF THE THREAT IS LEAVING, THEY ARE WALKING AWAY, THERE IS NO NEED TO RE-ENGAGE THE PSYCHO, JUST LET THE PERSON LEAVE!! Especially if you aren't even there to back up your big, bad, manly tone of voice....

this is a good time to point out that “a tornado is coming your way if it looks like it’s not moving” is kind of a myth. it can be coming right at you even if you see it moving and it could completely miss you even if you can’t see it moving. there’s still so little known about tornadoes just because there hasn’t been a way to safely track a tornado’s speed at all times. that’s why the EF rating is based on the destruction the tornado does instead of its speed

People are saying it sounds like the second guy is having a conversation with the voices in his head -- I respectfully disagree. I believe that he was practicing what he was gonna say when she opened the door to try and get her to lower her guard before he attacked her. He was trying to practice sounding non-threatening. At least, that's what it sounded like to me. Like he intended to knock on the door and ask "may I come in?" anticipating her to respond with a "no", before he says "are you sure? I have some questions I'd like to ask you". Just my thoughts anyways. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it were a conversation going on in his head either, but it sounded like an oddly specific thing to be repeating, especially given the context of him knocking on someone's door.

As someone who was once homeless (In Calgary), and also had encounters with the homeless in Vancouver, I imagine the guy in the second part was under the influence of fentanyl. One clear cut example I have is, while I was having a cigarette outside of our hostel - which was booked by the school, and right near Vancouver's most infamous streets... and Gastown... is a man that approached us talking to us about how you can't trust the government, and that he was looking for his daughter, who he figured was being hidden from him. Guess how he ended that encounter? He stated clearly that he was going to go across the street and take fentanyl. He named the specific drug. And the largest similarity I can pull here is both a) repeating his sentences, and b) being very clear on his intentions, up to incriminating himself. I'm so glad I had the life experiences I had before this encounter, with people who knew about the circumstances more than me at the time, because if the situation was at all mishandled, broad daylight or not, this guy could have done something horrible to me and the friend that was smoking with me.
That said - HINT TO EVERYONE, BUT ESPECIALLY TO A PARTICULAR COLLEGE LOCATED NEAR DRUMHELLER, ALBERTA - DO NOT! AND I REPEAT! DO NOT BOOK A BUNCH OF COLLEGE STUDENTS, SOME WHO HAVEN'T HAD ANY EXPERIENCES IN A CITY SETTING, WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF A LARGE PUBLIC VENUE - IE ROGERS PLACE AND BC PLACE (In this case). MANY TIMES, THE PUBLIC VENUES SUCH AS THIS IS WHERE THOSE WHO ARE HOMELESS GO, CAPITALISING ON THE STREET TRAFFIC. And while many of the homeless aren't inherently bad, take it from someone who has been there. The interaction to drop change in their cups is the most you should ever provide to them. Unless you understand the circumstances and the demeanors well, and that comes through heavy experience being up with them, very few can be trusted. I'm sorry to those who are in that condition who mean well, but to tell the difference between someone who means well and who is putting on an act is too tough a challenge to take the risk.

As someone with bipolar disorder, I can say that that shit is real no matter what you say or do. I need my medication and I freely admit that I'm a complete mess without it. A crying, angry, depressed mess that doesn't want to feel all of those emotions at once. It's suffocating for not only me but also for my loved ones and I hate being a burden to them when I'm going through all of my "mood swings". I hate it, and I truly wish I didn't have it, but goddamn it, if the medication that you were taking before made you feel like a zombie or that you feel it isn't working after a few days or weeks of taking it, tell your doctor it isn't working and they'll be able to give you a new one that'll hopefully help!
I hate having bipolar people having this tag on them as 'dangerous' all the damn time when a lot of us don't even take medication for it. I _hate_ being called names for what I can't fucking help.

How to get away with murder: Step 1: Don't google "How to get away with murder".
Not sure why it was left up to Tebebe himself to maintain med compliance after multiple violent episodes. They make monthly injectable antipsychotics for this exact situation, but instead they just trusted his word despite his entire history making it quite obvious it wouldn't stick.

Two things. First, the medications used to control/manage Psychosis/Schizophrenia often have debilitating and profoundly-negative side effects. Thankfully, there are newer medications that tend to result in less side effects, but these side effects can still be - highly - unpleasant. This is one of the reasons people suffering from Psychosis/Schizophrenia stop taking their medication. Second, Psychosis/Schizophrenia is one of the Mental Health issues whose symptoms can include "Poor Insight." This means that patients/clients may be unaware that they have these issues, and this lack of awareness can be variable, getting worse and getting better, sometimes for even a few hours.
"Poor Insight" tends to be multi-factored, meaning that it can affect perception of negative events (such as attacking someone), short and long term memory, minimizing negative events after the fact, and even can involve outright deception where clients/patients hide symptoms from providers.
The real problem is that the US has flat-out - abysmal - Mental Health care systems. Patients with severe Mental Health issues REQUIRE Case Management, often close supervision, and multiple different kinds of provider types (Doctor, therapist, social workers, etc.) However, what tends to happen is that clients/patients end up in the Psych Ward where their goal is to "stabilize" the patient. Stabilizing patients often means drugging them up with the most powerful medications they have in doses that are beyond therapeutically necessary - which results in a nice quiet unit where paperwork for the staff is minimized.
However, this is the surest way to experience those profoundly negative side effects, amplifying them, even creating new side effects. This causes the patients to stop taking the medications as soon as they are clear of the hospital, which will bring them in contact with the cops, and then the patient has more criminal charges, and where they are dropped off at the Psych Ward to Stabilize the patient.......rinse and repeat.
The above also tends to cause the patient to get progressively more frustrated, understandably so, often making their interactions with others progressively more problematic (from the general public to law enforcement to providers).
IF we had a sensible, forward thinking, long term treatment and management solutions, most of the even severely Mentally Ill can live in society without major issues. But we don't do that..... :-(

That guy on the porch is most definitely in amphetamine psychosis. He’s in a twilight dream state. I’ve done very weird shit like that. Went up to some poor women’s house and busted out the windows in her car because I thought I was a government agent. I even waited for the cops because I was sure I was in the right. How fucking embarrassing- I paid for the windows and worked around her house for months. It was my first step on the walk to recovery.
