0:38 Schumann Arabeske in C major op. 18
10:22 Schubert Moments musicaux op. 94 D. 780 (No. 1 in C major; No. 2 in A-flat major)
28:12 introduction to Brahms (a *must listen*)
31:03 Brahms Sonata No. 3 in f minor op. 5
It's always great to see and listen to Kate Liu's interpretations. They are very relaxing. Kate connects the listener with her inspiring way of playing and also with the composer.
I'am glad I found this new video.
It's always so refreshing to hear Kate play.
The sublime touch and musicality... it is like coming to a well to drink fresh water when listening to her, even with conditions of dull acoustics, strange piano, and muffled recorded sound. I wish she would come to Paris to play . We want to hear her live!
The girl is really coming out from another world. The old one. The (quasi-)forgotten time of Emil von Sauer, Rosenthal, Feinberg, Rosita Renard, Mark Hambourg, Moïsewitsch, Sofronitzky, Edwin Fischer, Annie Fischer, Backhaus, Tigermann, Gieseking, Egon Petri, Tamarkina, even Artur Schnabel or Dinu Lipatti. Etc ....
The time when playing the piano had A MEANING !!!
Thank you Kate, thank you ....

If you haven’t already seen it, be sure to watch her August 23, 2021 concert from Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw. It includes the Brahms Sonata and Chopin’s G Minor Ballade.
I know you’ll have lots to say. The audio quality is great, too.

The more I hear Kate Liu's out of the ordinary interpretations the more my respect for her as an artist grows. Obviously she puts a lot of thought into that, and then shows us a work from a very different perspective. Unfortunately, the piano was very "bright"; more suited for baroque and classical era than romantic repertoire, and this became particularly noticeable at the monumental Brahms sonata.
Gosh this piano doesn’t do her justice. Give her a good piano
Just imagine this, 56:30, with their Grand Queue Steinway, at Carnegie Hall, around the fifties .......;; in black and white ............. would immediately be legendary ....
56:30 painful and breathtaking .... and the fortissimo moment as a fantastic spelling ...
Beautiful playing as always, sadly the piano is not properly voiced.
acoustic a bit dry
@@Donaldharmonyinmotion: That’s putting it mildly. 😖🎹
@@marshallartz395 @Marshall Artz Haha, yes, I was being polite. I am a piano teacher and a technician as well. I could not help listening to her other recordings again and again. This particular recording turned me off completely. This is the worst Steinway I have ever heard, I am not sure a good tuning and voicing will help! All the best for this wonderful lady.
