Excellent talk, thankyou

I think it just ties into appearance, anything other than minimal or formal is seen as taboo of course although I feel it has to do with primal human survival anyway like Avant Grade fashion doesn't always seem natural to the human brain subconsciously.
I could not understand half of the q and a
She is so cool. Thanks for featuring her and her work!
🙄😒 So her thesis statement is that Black men who dress well are queer homos and they dress solely for the attention and validation of the White gaze. Girl bye! Black men dress as a form of expression and it's a part of Black culture. Also, she keeps speaking of a "diaspora" connection to dandyism, YET she keeps using the enslaved BLACK AMERICANS aka Negroes as the historical background and data for her thesis. There is no connection between a Nigerian who voluntarily immigrates to the UK and a Black American who was formerly enslaved. We don't have a shared "THREAD" we are not the same people, and this "diaspora" rhetoric needs to stop.
I was really lucky to watch this live, during Lockdown. Judy is a true legend, but this interviewer was not the most riveting with his questions.
If Edith died 1n 1981 ... how did this web interview take place? maybe I'm trapped in parallel universe .. SPOOF but why?
Quand vous dites que « dans ce cas ce n'est pas antique », est-ce que vous voulez dire que la statue n'est pas antique mais plutôt une copie, ou voulez-vous dire que ce sont plutôt les restaurations qui ne sont pas antiques ?
Ausgezeichnet. Danke, Jeanette.
he was a light skin man
Fantastisch
The sun never sets on soil soaked with the blood of a legionaire.
love this history
So let's make sure our orange pharaoh doesn't try to understand this parallel.
Trump is Lord! Amen!
Met Gala theme this year is gonna be so 🔥 Thinking about relaunching my book club to indulge in Millers treasure..
Ich bin dankbar für dieses Video 📷📸.
Great video, thank you!😊
Loved this!
How am I the first person to comment here? Well, the comment is that you are fabulous! Hope that helps!
VERY inspiring 🙏🏽❤️✝️
Strange people talking about black people. Dandyism..makes me giggle. People create entire careers based on black men! Imagine how amazing it is being a black man, with a fashion company. I do appreciate you guys, what else is worth talking about. Black men gently love the world.
FOH with this garbage!
AAHMAZING!!
Watching this spectacular presentation in 2024. Very interesting research. Thank you all for the initiative.
This is fascinating and i certainly will attend the Metropolitan Museum Of Art exhibition. I will really purchase the book. This was extraordinary seminar I loved it.
This is awesome! Just a humble question, is there a “tie” between a dandy is the Congo and “Dandyism” here in the US? Mr. Andre Leon Talley, the lcon! I was acquainted with him as well when I was a model in Paris, France. He was impeccable in everything he did and was always encouraging to us “new” girls of color. He is truly missed! Peace, Thulani Jeffries, lead singer of United Funk Order
I was waiting for her to mention La Sape and the Sapeurs. That would have added interest. Maybe she'll do a piece on them some time.
57:05 Mensch is that beautiful ... the PHRASING, millimetric-emotive spelling in an incredible dynamic range ... Annie Fischer and Katchen far away .........
i'm happy to find this video, i wish to learn more on noir aesthetics, its vibe is something i miss in the modern cinema
oh yeah!
They don't understand
Anyone else to prepare and learn before the MET 2025? I will be posting coverage of looks on my channel, ig and tt if you’re interested 🫶🏽
Yes! Just saw the pre-order for Ms. Miller's book on Amazon....
Yes!!!!!
Hello Met Gala invitee, who you are here to find some inspiration cause you cannot bother buying this book.
Professor Monica Miller is very well-educated & well-researched on the topic, which in turn allows others to thus become well-informed. Thank You, National Arts Club for this dialogue with her! ✨🙏🏾✨
Surprised more people aren’t here based on this years met theme being announced…
They’re missing out
Just saw the video about that now.

Right!
This video is dry as hell, sorry. I would rather read the 40 page book than listen to this. I am here for Lewis Hamilton though
Thank you for sharing this video, it made my life easier on my research for my Historic costuming Fashion class at Sacramento City College. I’ll be making my own Philippine Terno as my final project.
Miss his perspective so much! Everyone has demonstrated it did not diminish his expertise !
Should say DEMINISH HIS EXPERT
EXPERTISE! AUTO CORRECT IS MAD AT ME TODAY LOL
Had a mexican hacienda styled house with alot of mexican art , think it was in coldwater canyon
I have been to the Tarxien temple many years ago, there was no covering of the site in those days. I also went to the Hypogeum, Mnajdra and Hagar Qim, in those old days I actually walked from one to the other. To be honest Tarxien looks exactly the same. I cannot say the same for Mnajdra and Hagar Qim. Some of the limestone is more durable than others which have suffered weathering.
sweet!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤love Edith Head and this is so adorable and informative!
Loved this! Curious as to why there was no mention of Miley Cyrus?
the educator maintained her poise amidst the negativity thats tuf
Awesomeeee
This is exceptional. What an interesting take on the relationship between fashion and power.
Sigh...climate change , ice ages , warming trends etc have been coming and going forever. It will continue to no matter if you drive a silly electric car or not. Stop with this arrogant lie that you can control the weather.
How wonderful is this. Thank you.
Truly a blessing of Grace and inspiration ❣️ I would love sitting with Edith.
