What a fascinating discussion of such a complex piece from the perspective of two pianist/colleagues who have learned it. What a generous exposure by Claire of a colleague's performance having recognized it as extraordinary. The work is like Prokofiev wanted to capture the chaos and craziness of life in the early decades of the 20th Century and channel it into maximum strain for the performers. Thank you Claire for your conversations which I have only just discovered today, and thank you Haochen for such an incisive performance!
