Lex is asking for the Slayer "War at the Warfield" concert DVD xD
Also, this track is about how war is becoming a trivial commonplace in mankind history, how we humans keep on repeating the same mistakes and sometimes even the same wars alerting listeners to the dangers of war by using historical war references as not to be taken lightly like if it was some videogame or tv show... I sometimes think about how war has almost become a popular game show in recent years. After the Gulf War, some people wanted to sit down and be entertained by the war on TV, we've seen this throughout the '90s and post 2000.

I remember staying up late one Saturday Night in 1990 watching MTV'S Head bangers Ball at midnight. I had my headphones plugged into my little black and white tv I had so I wouldn't wake my parents. The effect this had on me can't be measured. You have to understand Nirvana and the grunge movement was a year away. This was still the era when Bon Jovi and Janet Jackson and Prince ruled TV and Radio. Hearing this was like peering into an entirely different universe. This was for a couple of years for me (funny enough until 1994 when Slayer put out their video for a song called "Dittohead") THE fastest song I had ever heard. Until I heard this I didn't know you could play this fast.
And it's not just RUclips capping the volume. I've been front row at a Slayer show and even then this song wasn't loud enough despite the my body vibrating into another dimension from the sound telling me otherwise.

Love Lex!!! I remember seeing Slayer at the Giant's stadium in New Jersey. They opened with this song ,and everyone started this HUGE pit! People were jumping from the seated areas down onto the general admission(field) area. And that is a 20 plus foot drop to the ground. And all the security guards were running after all the people that were rushing toward the HUGE pit! IT was total chaos! And remember, Sepultura, Sevendust and many others played before Slayer came on the stage. They didn't have 1/10th the pit Slayer started after the first two notes of this song! Epic!

The look on the faces of the security guards thinking wtf did we sign up for. 🤣 total war

@@kytziaf Yep! Tattoo the Earth Tour! It was the first time Slayer and Metallica shared the stage. The headliner was Slayer and Slipknot, every other night switching. That ONE night of the tour, there was Slayer, then Slipknot as the headliner. AND THEN one time only; Metallica closed out the Show! Best show I ever saw! And I have seen Slayer and Metallica many, many times. Oh and the security guiards running after the crowd of people, running into the pit, was total war. All you saw was people falling down like ants onto the ground, people helping each other get down by lowering them or jumping into a crowd of them that already made it onto the field. And all the security guards in bright yellow, running in every direction to stop them. They gave up about 15 seconds after the song started. there were too many Slayer fans!

@@kytziaf It was SOO sweet! Another Slayer story that I can share, was when Biohazard and Slayer were touring. Biohazard was really popular at the time, I wanna say 94-95. Biohazard was playing their first song, punishment, and then there sound board or something Shitted out on them and all you could here was the snare drum. All the vocals, and guitar amps dropped out. And after about 10 seconds of confusion, the whole crowd started chanting SLAYER! SLAYER! SLAYER!, And Biohazard did not play another song, I don't know if they could after that embarrassment. 20 some minutes later SLAYER started with Hell AWAITS! They played a two-hour show that night. It was SOO freakin' good! There whole encore was the entire album of Reign in Blood from Angel of Death through Reign in Blood. They played it just like the album, no breaks, Alter of sacrifice right into Jesus saves, everything was perfect! IT was tough!

Ghosts of War! The first Slayer song I heard and will always be my favorite. Listen to the studio version for full affect, I haven't found good live recordings , I'm sure they are out there, but the studio version rips!

This song brings back some good old memories. When my 20 year old was 4 this is the song he asked to be put on every time we got in the car. On top of the running around the house singing the chorus and freaking the wife out among others. LOL

This song is the best piece of commentary on exactly how disgusting war is.
    "When victory's really massacre"
"The final swing is not a drill/
It's how many people I can kill"
    "When victory's really survival"
    A perfect definition.

Their drummer Dave Lombardo was one of the best drummers in this style of Thrash metal. You can tell from the reactions she was impressed by his skillz. Dude was badass
And yes Thrash is energetic type of music, which is why you see so many kids going wild when they play live. Its hard to top the kind of energy these bands had. Live is even craazier.
Glad you guys chose this one to react to.
