absolutely loving the "you can actually find this on the shelf" reviews...always nice to be able to actually drink along with the fellas. Cheers MBs
I've noticed a growing trend of MGP sourced bottles finding their way onto my shelf. And I have said on camera numerous times, I really like MGP whiskey. Thus I wouldn't be surprises to see them attempting to branch out. 🖖😎🥃
MGP buying Lux Row and then other good former customers like Penelope makes a lot of sense. "Jesus, these guys are making bank just reselling our stuff. We should buy them and just supply the barrels, less overhead."
The Old Gran Dad Bonded 100 proof is a pretty good whiskey in my book!
Oh, dude, you missed Mull; it's the most beautiful of the Scottish islands. The distillery is okay, but Tobermory, where it's located, is incredible. Calgary beach resembles a Caribbean beach, and the seafood is really good. Even the takeaway food truck at the port is great.
Happy Friday and Merry Table Slappin Day
I haven't had this one, but the barrel strength (bonded? cast strength? can't remember now) was great!
Mark Hamill, you missed a prime opportunity to pull out lightsabers!
The high rye mash bill is great. I think Cowtown Bourbon Club did picks a few years ago that were phenomenal. Could’ve been DFWWC.
Thanks for the video guys 🥃
George Remus Bourbon is the most cherry forward Bourbon I've ever had. It tastes like cherry pie in a glass with a touch of cinnamon and oak
Quiz show? 1st to slap the table answers these questions three. If you answer correctly to all three, more whiskey for thee. If not off with thee.
I think this one is a blend of the regular 21% and 36% rye mash bills. The single barrel sample kits these days have one each of the 21%, 36%, and the 49% rye mash bills.
…and sounds like they really paid up for Penelope. You’ll know it’s getting really real when they buy Smoke Wagon or Barrell/Stellum. Baby steps would be Nashville Barrel Company,
Woo! I was hoping for a review of the oldest bottle. Maybe consider writing the date on bottles the day they are opened.
Hey guys, love the show and thanks for the review. If you haven't tried our new Remus 6yr Highest Rye please do. It is our LISV mashbill (51% corn, 39% rye, 10% malted rye) and its delicious.

Sounds great!
Love me some George Remus.
You should do a review of the whiskey I had while on holiday in Bulgaria. It is called black ram
Nice! I get a lot of orange citrus and vanilla in my bottle:)
My question is; How many years after MGP is no longer sourcing and the middle men have all run dry, does MGP distilled whiskey become rare and sought after by the sentimental whiskey snobs just because it's from a bygone era?
Blend of their 2 main ones (36% and 21%)
I just had this today and it hit me like Raid Wasp spray. Maybe just me but that's what I got.
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S.... 🥃
TGIRWF
I wish you would have picked up the Still Austin Bottled in Bond High Rye Bourbon that they just released.
Should have compared to OGD BiB. Proof points would have been closer.
What is the current bottle count in the vault? Rough guess...
MGP just bought the penelope brand that used mgp as the source for 106 mill
May take is these brands that R/S have bought will now have new age stated bottles coming out in the coming years and they will continue to purchase NBP and grow and become a giant. So instead of sourcing to them they will just buy them. Good time to invest in some of these companies. Just saying.
The Remus single barrels mashbills change up.
Here's a great idea for a bourbon name @3:05 "Not another MGP"
How can we tell mpg from other whiskey?
First off, I am NO Expert here but my bottle of Bulleit Rye has 'Distilled in Lawrenceburg, IN' as a hint it's MGP ... I'm not sure about other brands/labels based on their arrangement. Cheers 🥃
I was under the impression that excellent bourbon would cost $80 90 dollars a bottle. I just Google GRB whiskey at $40.00 a bottle which I think is a good price for bourbon.
When's the last time you guys had a bottle down ceremony? Seems like it'll never happen again
Sounds like MGP is putting their whiskey in the Disney Vault.
I'm old enough to get your joke 😁.
Also, some useless trivia. l live close to the town in Georgia from which Joel Chandler Harris (writer of the Uncle Remus stories) hails.
Luxco and MGP merged, and MGP has been renamed to the Ross & Squibb distillery just FYI
It has not. Ross & Squibb is the new name of the old Seagrams Distillery in Lawrenceburg. Prior to the rename, the plant itself was just referred to internallyas either "Lawrenceburg", or "The Old Seagrams Distillery", which the corporate types figured wasn't exactly good branding. MGP itself still owns Ross and Squibb (the old Seagrams plant), their Atchison plant, Lux Row, the Middletown and Sunman storage facilities, and the smaller distilleries outside DC that used to make Green Hat, although that is in the process of being shut down and the production moved to the Ross & Squibb plant.
OMG. The story about Remus is sooooooooooo much more involved than Daniel's explanation. If you look into the entire story of how his wife screwed him over, it was a just verdict.
I'd have agreed with the jury, lol....
He shot his wife in front of her daughter
@@jj9363 Yep. And it took a jury of his peers 19 minutes to find him not guilty, and the courtroom erupted in cheers after the verdict was read.
Look up the story...
MGP should have sourced the whiskey for Remus just to screw with the industry.
I remember when MGP was a bad word.😂
Thirst (Frank)
MGP was making bourbon when nobody could sell it. Whiskey is hot now and and they have the product. People like the taste adn accept MGP Bourbon as a quality product. MGP has figured out, you can make a lot more money at retail than wholesale.
Day 51 of asking for a........ Hmmm what was it?! Oh yeah a Magnificent Bastard Trash Can Shot Cam!
First?
Listen…MPG makes really nice products but I’m to the point where I avoid at all costs. Just have had too much of it.
Christopher Columbus 1st
Fun fact...If he was a hero before, he's definitely hero now to 98% of men who are married, -AND- 100% of men that have gotten divorced
Rex you are looking great. Loo9ks like you have lost a few pounds lately. Daniel... Well you're still bald, so.... congrats?
