from Heaven Hill: “People occasionally say that the label needs to be updated and revived,” he revealed. “But I see it as part of the charm of the whole brand. So what if somebody said it looks like the 1950s? So what if somebody derides it for its big yellow label? I like it because it’s old, untouched, not revised. We decided long ago that we’re not going to touch this thing.”
Promise?
Mellow Corn might have one of the most iconic labels in whiskydom, it would be a colossal mistake to ever change it. Like Tropicana-level marketing mistakes.
Mellow corn is in my rotation for a daily drinker. Great summer whisky and dessert whisky too.
I like Mellow Corn. Nothing complicated about it, I just drink it and its nice.
Damn you! I had to Google the label. It says it's the original 1945 label on Mellow Corn.
Nice to see you guys reviewing whiskey that’s available for everyone again. Cheers!
Mellow Corn reminds me of Mazola Corn Oil, the color, the nose, and even taste!
Loonie Toons is absolutely in Europe at least! In the Danish translation, Acme was changed to Ajax which is a brand of cleaning products
Cleaning product in the states too.
It's called ajax because it cuts through grease (Greece).
@@ShortArmOfGod I don’t get it. I thought Ajax didn’t do much outside of not beating Hector in a duel, rage-murdering a flock of sheep, and committing suicide before the final assault on Troy
we grew up with roadrunner, gtreetings from Greece!
The lads and I purchase a case of 1L bottles of Mellow Corn and throw it into our small oak barrels and age them for 6-8 months and then bottle and gift them for the holidays. Newbies and aficionados all enjoy it.
Looney tunes was my favourite in the 70’s in Perth Western Australia
Mellow Corn is pretty good at 4 years old, which makes me wonder how it would taste at 8 years or more. Those ex-bourbon casks could have more to give and might make that corn whiskey even mellower and more balanced given some extra time.
Genuinely thought Daniel was going to introduce himself as "Welcome to the Whiskey Vault" "I'm tired" "I'm Rex...."
I can't speak for the rest of the world, but looney tunes and Tom and Jerry are fairly well known among geezers in Japan.
Love the new Schappert punch.
Thanks for the review and the animation! Love it! I am glad you like it!
I'm into my first bottle of Mellow Corn and it's pretty interesting, interesting enough that I'll be buying more.
Hello to all you MBs
Släinte
Thanks for the video guys 🥃
The price of Mellow Corn has just increased by 37% because you mentioned it.
Loonie Toonies is in Canada! So technically international
well done gentlemen..
starting the week with the FULL Schappert... cheers...
Mellow to boot... amazing
The first rule of Mellow Corn - stop talking about Mellow Corn.
I am a sucker for bottled in bond, Heaven Hill products. Those hundred proofers are fantastic value.
Looney Tunes huge in Mexico. Grew up watching them in Spanish and recently started watching them in English and it’s so much fun all over again
Acme is also a supermarket in Delaware! It’s where you go to buy your scrapple. 😊
I've seen that stuff (Mellow Corn) in the store so many times and never thought a second about it. Figured it was rotgut. May have to try it now.
Around here Mellow Corn runs $18 or so a bottle if you can find it. Excellent value at that price.
I haven’t seen the legend of Schappert in the comments in a while
Schappert... love that he get's his own animation...
Loonie Toons has made it nearly everywherte on the planet. It was running as a part of the weekend morning cartoons in Finland when I was a kid, not sure if it still is though.
However can't find Mellow Corn in Finland, or in Canada (LCBO at least) where I live now.
While checking for Mellow Corn, I found out the Finnish government achohol store (ALKO) selection is quite a bit better than what we get here in Ontario, especially for scotch. A lot of stuff available that I have never seen in Ontario at all and a lot of the prices are quite reasonable as well.
Yay! You found it!
A new patron clip dropped!!
I never get melons in whiskey. But, in soju and sake, melons, particularly cantaloupe and honeydew, are very common tasting notes. I wonder if that has more to do with it being unaged rather than the type of grain.
"Drink" with a soft "G" at the end is how we in the voice over industry say it.
I'm from Greece, born in 2000, I remember ACME
You guys rock! 🤩I've had a couple of Mellow Corns over my past 20 odd years of drinking bourbon but I now feel a need to hunt down a bottle and in the UK that's not easy. My regular place to get it was Berry Bros & Rudd in St James's in London so maybe I need a trip there! Cheers!
Ya'll get BOHICA on the taxes. The prices are double or more than in the US.
@@kirbyculp3449 We are taxed to within an inch of our lives over here! Was in NYC recently and stocked up on cigars, didn't think to do the same with Bourbon! 🤭
Gotta love socialist EU Bullshit
I’ve been contemplating trying the mellow corn and after seeing guys such as yourselves talk about how good it is considering the price of it. I definitely have to try it. Thanks for the recommendations.
Add a bump to a light beer for something extra!
Very interesting just might try that.
The way I described it to someone in a Total Wine who noted that I was getting a bottle, "It's kind of a one note whiskey, but it's a good note."
Looney Tunes is absolutely international. I grew up with it in Turkiye back in the late 80s early 90s :)
We definitely have Looney Tunes here in the UK meep meep!
I get it - every once in a while, you just have to come up with an excuse to drink Mellow Corn. It has a way of calling to you...
In my market, Mellow Corn costs more than Evan Williams BiB. I guess the word got out.
My intro to scotch was Redbreast 12. It was the first time I truly enjoyed malted barley. Now I love both Islay scotch and many blended scotches. Never woulda happened without Redbreast.
Redbreast has a Scotch?
The comment was in reference to them saying the intro to bourbon could be mellow corn and the intro to scotch could be Irish. Mine was Redbreast 12. It opened my eyes to how good malt could be.
@@Privatecajun1 ah that makes sense. I actually went the other way around and started with Scotch and now I drink mostly bourbons and ryes and recently got a bottle of redbreast.
It's been about 20 years since I've had Mellow Corn last. Funny, I remember it tasting like regret. Might be time to revisit it?
From the UK!
Meep! Meep!
A Briana bottle? Yes please!
Is the metal in the Acme like the taste of water pumped by hand from a well? The way you described it made me think of doing that as a kid on farms.
….or maybe I just got too much lead from those pipes……
In finland looney toons were big in the late 80s and early 90s.. Nowdays not so much.
Mellow Corn…now you have my full attention.
Gonna have to see if our local shop has that on the shelf.
Have y'all had a chance to try the Lewis & Clark bourbon? It's another better than it has any right to be for it's price. Would probably be a good stop along the bourbon newbie trail from the Mellow Corn start... oh, darn, I'll have to try Mellow Corn again to confirm... shoot.
If you're going with corn whiskey, mellow corn is good, but anything out of iron root is good, too.
People like to hate on mellow corn but it’s good with sweat tea
Regardless of price range what do you think has a comparable profile to mellow corn?
I grew up watching Looney Tunes in India in the 90s!
We need a "creamed corn" drink recipe made now please.
That is in fact its one, and only, label.
Mellow Corn is $20 and only in 1L in OH. Gotta really look for a store that has it.
Unfortunately Mellow Corn is £30+ in the UK. I'd love to try it, but I can get Laphroaig 10 for the same price.
I definitely enjoyed Looney Tunes in South Africa.
What does this taste like at 10-12 years old maturing in these 2nd fill casks in KY?
international indeed
Its relatively expensive at £35/40 in the UK, but definitely worth it. How many different sherry finished whiskies do you really need?
Looney tunes was huge in Oz too. Was hugely disappointed you never finished with, ''abader abader, that's all folks.'' 😅
Sorry, I have some Mellow Corn, but I was already drinking some Classic Laddie.
Looney Tunes has definitely made it to Germany. Part of my childhood
Totally here for Daniel's elocution lesson.
New Zealand checking in. Looney tunes made it here so safe to assume it's world wide.
Ironically, here in Australia you can't get Mellow Corn!
Have you tried jack daniels coy Hill? If so, opinion?
We dare you to release a 'Brianna' bottle....!😁
1:30 - Everythink
What do yall mean by greedy with the cuts?
Taking a larger swath of hearts, getting more product but might have off tastes from heads and tails.
80 core, 8 rye, 12 barley
My question is did the makers of ywllow corn age theirs or add food coloring, because the taste will change vs the clear Acme corn whiskey ,(moonshine) is clear .
Bottled-in-Bond is aged at least four years.
Yeah Looney Tunes was part of Saturday morning TV throughout my Childhood in the UK. Beep beep.
As a dutch MB.. hell yeah we know Looney Toones
Is this a FRESH NEW graphic / intro? Dang!
Hell yeah Looney tunes is international! Even translated/dubbed. Loved it as a kid
Banana Bourbon!
Mellow corn is a whiskey I'd like to try, but it's £34 -£38 a bottle here and I ain't paying that much for it.
It's OK.
From Europe here, I grew up with Looney Toons as Saturday cartoons
Dammit! It's Monday ....No Brianna
The only unaged whisky I've ever had is Buffalo Trace White Dog, mash bill 1. Of course there's no barrel influence so it's not complex, but it's good.
The Mellow Corn label hasn't changed since 1945. Unless things have changed recently, it's the only bottled in bond corn whisky. I need to get another bottle, but...so much whisky, so little time. 🙂
I have been looking for enough of the BT white dog to barrel for myself. I have a new 3 gallon barrel ready to give it a try.
@@alumrootHere in Albuquerque they sell it in pints for $22.99. That does seem a tad bit high for 375ml, but then I expect the vast majority of their white dog goes into barrels and so this stuff isn't real common. But at that price, would it be worth it to buy and then age yourself?
@@WhiskyForBeginners I have heard that Total Wine has it from time to time. I see some stores have it for $15.99. At that price, I would buy a case or two. I bought the barrel unused from Willett with their head stamp on it for decoration. It is a #3 char, but I would love to have it filled and used. I figure 2-5 years would be like longer aging because of the high surface to volume ratio.
ok...
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S... 🥃
Hi guys. Loony Tunes is cool in the U.K. ………beep beep!
Oh Daniel, We know what you're talkingk😁 about.
Also, Looney Tunes international? Yes, I'm 27y/o from the UK, loved the Looney Tunes growing up, best thing to watch on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon
Dutch guy here: Looney Tunes def international. When I saw the thumbnail I immediately thought Roadrunner!
Looney toons is definitely international
Didn't Billy Thorpe make a song about this bottle? Children of the Corn?
Rex: "It's melons for me."
Me: "That's what she..." Well, you know the rest.
That is internationale as all hell
I am children of the corn!
I can't get Mellow Corn.
I live 24 miles from the ACME distillery. Not a fan of their new make offerings. But may need to revisit it
You live in Eastern Oregon? Pendleton area?
Yeah. In Hermiston
@@joehixson5340 cool! I live in Boise now but was born and raised in Pendleton! We should try to meet up sometime!
Nice! When did you move to Boise?
@@joehixson5340 10 years ago… I left to work for st Luke’s hospital
The Mellow corn label has been around since 1945.
Hey Daniel, looking pretty tall today, anyway back to my comment: could we get Fighting-k, Stealing-k and Drinking-k shirts for the tribe?
Brianna, bottled in bond with subtle notes of bucket in the tasting notes.
Mellow scorn
Looney Toons ran hot in Hungary :)
