Who Konahrik Was - Skyrim Theory

- Arise, "Warlord".. Here, I discuss a few Skyrim Theories that could uncover Who Konahrik Was. Eight dragon priest masks, in their corresponding locations, unlock the Konahrik mask. Much of this deals with Skyrim lore, as well as some Skyrim secrets. I do other Skyrim top 5 stuff, often leading to secret quests and enemies. Perhaps, the most powerful enemy?
Since I'm on PC, I love the Skyrim new mods. There are quest mods and follower mods that are outstanding. They make coming up with your own fan theory, or happening on disturbing locations more fun. There's no shortage of sad stories and deaths to find, pocketed in secret locations, but they make it a little sweeter.

My theory doesn't account for the Dragon Priests encountered in Elder Scrolls Online, but I have a theory that each of the Dragon Priests were the original Jarls of the holds of Skyrim, and Konahrik was reserved for the High King.
This is good theory too
This is a theory
Brian Sanders I like that theory
They weren't exactly Jarls, but they ruled over Skyrim.
Basically what I think. Since the Shrine seems more symbolic than anything. Plus the Dragon Priest's souls are slowly trickling in from atherius or their soul gems. Daugr are found with soul gems and I'm assuming a lot here, but it would seem that when a warrior died to protect their lord/priest in the afterlife their soul was stored so the body could be resurrected. It's only a theory. It also could be ancient magic long lost to the annuls of war and time.
Plus the last bastion of the Dragon Cult was taken down in the First Era, so it is not surprising they are still "dead". It's absolutely fascinating
I personally think that Konahrik was the chief dragon priest, but he grew to despise the harsh treatment of the mortals by the dragon priests and dragons and began secretly spreading negativity against the dragons, planting the seeds for the Dragon War. Alduin figures this out, and orders the other dragon priests to kill him when they all gather at Bromjunaar (Labyrinthian). The other dragon priests except Krosis (Which means sorrow) are happy to do this, hence his name. He still agrees to do so of course.
Problem is, when the dragon priests spring their trap, Konahrik proves far too powerful for them to defeat, fighting them to a complete standstill. Alduin has to get involved, but realizes that Konahrik may make a better asset than a corpse. He then orders the other dragon priests to curse Konahrik, binding his soul to his own mask and killing his corporeal body. The whole 'need-all-the-masks-to-get-Konahrik's' thing is basically a safeguard to make sure no one with the magical know-how could resurrect him, and that Alduin could have access to Konahrik whenever he pleases.
This sounds like the best theory tbh; fits in with Occam's razor
Caaros, The King of Chaos That would also explain why you can summon Kohnariik on a low chance when you get healed by the mask
Well, I didn't even think about that.
This is a very good theory--similar to mine :) I've actually made a build based on this.
Caaros, The King of Chaos I think konahrik is the most powerful dragon preist and lived long ago also he was dragonborn but he dies because alduin is feeling he is too powerful so alduin kills him. then just like the dragons you are resurected by a unknown dragon born. after this you are caught at helgen. alduin saves you because he wants to fight you himself. thus the.main questline begins in which you get your revenge on alduin
Another amazing video. Thank you!

@Matthew Zachariah definitely, been using Instaflixxer for years myself :)
Miraak chose Kthulu over Smaug.
Lovecraft himself spelled and pronounced Cthulhu many different ways; and "Cthulhu" itself is only a vague approximation of how his name would actually be spelled in his own tongue. Correcting someone on the spelling of a word that has no definite spelling is pretty senseless.

"Oh, I didn't expect that from you."
The Theory that you are the Kohanarik would also tie in with the "Letter from a friend" mystery. That Hermeous Morus is sending you the letters because he wants you to succeed and then later kill Mirak.
No, it's already confirmed the letters come from Gyron Vardengroet.
+SonOfMyths73 who? I always thought they were from Delphine.
Slender Man right plus if mora wanted you to know something hed do like he did during oghma infinium and just appear all tentacles and eyeballs and tell you, i mean he cant even write anything himself and thats canon
No wonder he knew I could shout while I was in apocrypha to find skill books
There's a theory that one of the greybeards is sending you these letters,bc he wants to see you develop your powers as the dragonborn. You can see in wulfgar's inventory that he has a paper and a quill.
I believe Konahrik was the Arch Priest of the Dragon Priests, the leader of their religion. He held the position until death, but because of his power gained over years of favor from the dragons, he was not buried at death. Instead, he was cremated and his ashes scattered across Skyrim, resulting in unique abnormalities, such as Unmelting Snow. His mask, blessed by Alduin himself, was sealed with the power of the greatest members of their order, so unless a time where it was necessary for all Dragon Priests to come together, it would never be found.
Or, when some idiot with a thumpy stick decided to see what the wooden mask did,
Something like that is what I thought. Him being the "head" of the Dragon Priests in the same sense the current High King is the "head" of the Jarls who now rule Skyrim. They sealed away his mask as no one was able to take it and actually use it for the immense power held within. The remaining Dragon Priests decided to seal it away for that reason, a seal that only all of them could break, or a seal that only those capable enough to best every one of them could break. If someone could best all of them, then that person would be able to continue Konahrik's legacy and power. Though I doubt they expected that someone would do that long after they're dead.
As for what became of Konahrik's body. It might simply have been destroyed. The shrine itself has been destroyed, so it is very much possible that Konahrik's body has been as well. Exactly how that came to be is a bit of mystery. Perhaps the dragon killed him and destroyed his body out of fear, or maybe the other Dragon Priests did it out of jealousy and wanted more power? Things like that.
Nice but not that supporting. he would be like other dragon priest being in a dungeon and being a boss a stronger boss than the others
I would say you having to put all the dragon priest masks in their places to unlock Konahrik's Mask would mean that Konahrik had a higher rank than the common dragon priests like Morokei and Krosis.
I've always thought it'd be cool for Konahrik (War Lord) to be a mask and title rewarded to the Last Dragonborn upon the defeat of Alduin and his priests, making the Last Dragonborn to be the first Dragon Priest to follow the Way Of The Voice
the masks aren't so much named after the owner as much as the owners are named after the masks
🤯
Which is why I basically know it's an unmasked dragon priest. That priest lies in Iron bind barrow and his name is WARLORD Gathrik. Konahrik means warlord and his name is warlord, so I am gonna take a guess and say it's Gathrik
@@justawhiteguywitharocketla590Why won't the mask just be called Gathrik? Also Gathrik will be a draugr if you encounter him before level 40.
@Caleb-hl9qo gathrik is a name. All dragon priest masks aren't names, but they are titles. For example, on the wiki, it says Rahgot means anger and Vokun means shadow. The beholders of the masks are named after the masks, so that could mean that since Gathrik didn't have the mask that means it wasn't named specifically for someone named Konahrik

The best I've heard was that Konahrik was an emergency title similar to that of "Dictator" in the roman republic. If the realm was under a great threat, the dragon priests would meet and choose a Konahrik (Konahrik mean Warlord in draconic)among themselves to lead them through those harsh times. After leading them through those harsh times they would give up the mask and title and return it to Bromjunaar until it was needed again. There's also speculation that Vahlok was one of these dragon priests chosen when Miraak rebelled.
That’s the theory I find most likely as well. After all, why would the dragon cult need a warlord when they weren’t at war?
Oh! I actually made a build that answers this question!
The Dragonborn is Kohnarik of Atmora, born during the Merethic Era and was one of the first dragonborns. When the Dragons first came to Tamriel and Atmora, they saw the the potential of Kohnarik and asked him for his loyalty for great power in return. Kohnahrik was fascinated by their offer, so he agreed. He became one of the first Dragon Priests of Atmora. Kohnahrik was reassigned to Skyrim and also became the leader of the other eight priests that went with him.
However, war broke out in Skyrim and many Nords began to rebel against the dragons. The rebels were about to launch a massive attack on the Labyrithian, so Kohnarik used a scorched-earth tactic and had his men destroy most of the city while he fled to High Rock. However, he did not inform the other priests or the dragons about his plan, and when Kohnarik returned to Skyrim, the other priests were waiting.
The eight priests were furious that Kohnarik was responsible for the destruction of the Labyrithian and so they stripped away his power, stripped him of his name, and took away and locked up his mask, and erased all understanding of shouts or spells. Just as the Greybeards can bestow the knowledge of shouts to the Dragonborn, the priests can also take it away. Kohnarik was supposed to be killed by Alduin himself, but he was busy fighting a war. The execution would have to be delayed.
Kohnarik then escaped the dragon priests, and fled again, this time to Cyrodill. He was stopped in Bruma by a group of Nord rebels. Among them was Felldir, the Old, who had an Elder Scroll. He had a theory that the Scroll could be used to banish people from time itself, but he never got the chance to test it. But now, he had captured the great dragon priest, Kohnarik, and he will pay for his crimes. Felldir used the scroll on Kohnarik to try to banish him. It failed, and Kohnarik ended up in the 4th era.
It took time for him to adapt to the new time period, but eventually, after a few years, he became a well-respected blacksmith. But he was curious. Kohnahrik wanted to know more about what happened to the dragon cult and see what remained. He then traveled back to Skyrim where he walked into a stormcloak ambush, and you know what happened. When he saw Alduin for the first time in years, he was at first overwhelmed with joy. But then the started attacking. Alduin was going to finish what he started. Kohnarik felt betrayed. Alduin not only refused to help him, but he was going to destroy the world, when he was only supposed to rule it. Kohnahrik was going to enact revenge. He would kill the other eight priests, kill every dragon in sight (except Parthunax; he helped Kohnarik), and reclaim his power.
yey
Michael Lee Damn Good
There is a flaw in this theory and is that the Last Dragonborn could be any race, and because Dragon Priests were only Nords, it doesn't fit in if say, the Last Dragonborn turns out to be a Kahjiit or Dark Elf.
Michael Lee That is an awesome theory, I should RP it sometime
@@darthdangermouse1453 It's bit iffy. On one hand, yeah it doesn't work for every player's Dragonborn, but on the other the canon Last Dragonborn is apparently a Nord. The only real issues are that Miraak is officially referred to as "the First Dragonborn" and I'm sure Miraak would recognize one of his fellow Dragon Priests if they originally met before they received their masks.
I'll personally like the idea that Kohnariik uses to be a Dragonborn and has a connection to the Last Dragonborn. Mostly because it fits with my little roleplay thing that I always use. The backstory for my character is that he's in skyrim searching for the dragon priest masks he heard stories about as a child.

Here's my theory: among all the priest konahrik was the most powerful so powerful that rivald even Alduin thus he answered to alduin only and was the leader dragon cult. Near the end of the Dragon war, with Alduin gone Konahrik knew the defeat was near but he could not let his mask the sorce of his almighty power fall into the hands of the enemy. Konahrik tore a fabric in time creating something like a pocket dimension and hid his mask there where no one could reach it then gave up his physical form to create the wooden mask in hopes that another one of worthiness would caim the mask and its awsome power thus carying on Konahrik's legacy
that sounds awesome but it's a theory
Mr Elephant It's kinda plausible, the pocket dimension magic definitely exists in skyrim, it's what vaermina feeds off of, so if one were to be powerful enough to rival Alduin he might be able to harness it
alduin isn't as strong as a deadric lord or a deadric prince they alter the world around them by bare presence alone, wisps of their power alter the course of the world, if it wasn't for akatosh's barrier even a deadric lord could destroy the world in days, alduin at best was immortal in the material plane, and vaermina doesn't use a pocket dimension she uses her plane of oblivion, the only being still capable of creating a pocket dimension and this is kinda ironic, is sheogorath, a deadric lord (which are weaker than princes normally but good ol' sheo is the exception since he has enough power to literally wipe out all other princes and lords single handedly but he's batshit insane), and another reason that sadly the theory doesn't work is because all power the dragon priests had (other than their own abilities which are reflected in their masks such as azhidal was an enchanter before becoming a dragon priest but gained more power after) and most became dragon priests seeking greater power, why would alduin bestow upon a mortal the power to rival and possibly defeat or harm him when he sees them as inferior, theres only 4 things alduin would fear, the elder scrolls, an immensely powerful dragonborn who is lucky as fuck, akatosh and the deadric princes + sheo
Could have been Ysgramor. He was certainly a war lord, and he had to be damn powerful to kill so many snow elves
It is posible that Lord Harkon used to be a Dragon Priest but had gone Rogue and abandoned the Dragons? He has a Dragon Priest dagger in his castle.
Darth Molalikith not to mention he knows that dragons are coming back and he doesn't care
Isn't he too young to be a dragon priest?
+Callum Shamwana No, he's a vampire that existed long before the empire, if Serana saying she doesn't know about the empire is a reliable source.
Callum Shamwana he is a vampire
Isaac Jones
+BewareThe Beast
I am well aware he is an immortal vampire.
If I am not mistaken, the dragon war ended long before the formation of a tamrielic empire.
My source is that Nords are always yapping about how "Talos Founded the Empire" yet Tiber Septim wasn't born until the Second Era, whereas the dragon war ended in the First Era.
That is what I meant.
Isn't it obvious? Jonah risk is Nazeem, the could district he was talking about wasn't the castle, 'twas the sky he was referring to, it all makes sense
jonah risk
I used to be a Dragon Priest like you, but then I took an Eggo to the knee...
i think Konahrik is a reward created during the dragon war for their most loyal dragon priest but since alduin was defeated a dragon cult hid it making sure that it would be acquired only in the presence of the other dragon priests or at least their masks
I like the shalidor theory
Theshortguy84 I like that theory too
YOU'RE HAWt bITCH, I lieked the third one.
Unfortunately there's a problem with it: Shalidor built Labyrinthian on the ruins of Bromjunaar. The dragon cult was long since destroyed by the time he came around.
Mr Man YOU ARE SHOR THOUGH
Time Squid well if shalidor could prolong his life with the wooden mask, he could have endured long enough and then built labyrinthian on top to hide bromjunaar and any clues to his past, just as he wants to do with the mask
Can you just talk to me all day Graenolf? Your voice is hypnotizing

While the Shalador theory does sound pretty damn good, I like the reincarnation one the most.
Konahrik was a dank-ass dragon priest from the college of weedsmokers.
One day he woke up and said "I'm gonna be a mother fucking Dragon Priest" and he became a dragon priest.
Will anyone know what I'm talking about?
And that was the day the first meme was created
Dank af
The theory i like the most is that Konahrik is the name of the last dragon born and he was meant to be recruited as a dragon priest, thats why alduin attacks helgen, he meant to recruit you but you ran away.
Alduin even says to you, " Join me or perish" doesnt he.
What I do with the mod Konahrik's Accoutrements is that I was sent forward in time in a much similar way to Alduin, but in the process I was stripped of my gear and powers. This sparks me on a quest to reclaim my lost gear, all along the way regaining my power and rising to challenge the very things that betrayed me: the dragons.
you really do put a lot of personality into your videos, adding more to the content you are speaking about.

My personal headcanon is that the Last Dragonborn is Konahrik, but the dragons and other priests simply cursed him to lose all memory and all of his abilities before sealing him away. I suppose he eventually escaped somehow, but not knowing who he was, he was captured by the Imperials while wandering around, leading to the start of the game.
1:21 What do you prefer waffles or pancakes?
[Remain silent...]
Oh really? Wasn’t really expecting that from you...
Obviously he likes pancakes more. They're way more fluffy.
Waffles are definitely superior. They care about the consumer holding the Syrup in place through use of the grid like pattern they have. Waffles are like "hey man, I see you wish to consume my power well let me hold the syrup for you cause I'm just that awesome".
Whoa whoa whoa. But that syrup-holding capability comes with a price: Harder surfaces. I want to cut into the fluffiness, and let that syrup really absorb on the inside.
Graenolf Exactly. A harder surface means that less and less syrup is poured into the actual pancake/waffle. I mean, the best tasting pancakes are the ones that have absorbed the syrup into them, like a inner filling.
Alex, That One Shitposter Fluffy? Why in the name of Talos do people go for the fluffy ones, homemade flat plain pancakes are the waveeeeeeee!
Ah, but waffles are crispier!
Here's my theory: The gods created the mask as a
secret reward to the dragonborn for defeating the dragons most loyal servants just as they created the dragonborn to defeat the dragons. As well they named the mask warlord because the dragonborn is in sense a warlord for waging war against the dragons and leading others against them
William Smith sounds kinda good but there's one big flaw in this story ... you say the gods have created it , so the daedra of wisdom would surely know about it and tell miraak, he couldn't resist most likely and get it for himself as he is the first dragonborn and a dragonpriest back then
That's very basic, an effective repeat of what was already requested of him, from the video. Don't praise him. And also you have a really dumb counter to that and it's Aedra if anything. Which by this time are really just gone and don't give a crap. Despite their blessings, still being able to take effect.
Mr Man Just a thorey just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to criticize someone else's idea
William Smith nothing is wrong criticising. Just saying this wasn't really anything new.
William Smith THATS THE POINT. A THEORY MUST FACE CRITICISM

Khonariik was a dragon priest that grew in power until his power was greater than all of the other priests. The priests and the Dovah were fearful of this immense power so they banished the priest himself to Oblivion. But what if Khonariik's mask wasnt supposed to be discovered? What if it isnt a reward? What if it isnt there so that something could get in? What if it is there so that Khonariik cant get out and the only way to unlock it is if all of the dragon priests agreed to release it by putting their masks on the shrine? Maybe Khonariik was just to powerful, too dangerous, too risky for the dragon priests to set free? The dovah and their priests imprisoned Khonariik in the Labyrinthian in another realm with one way in: the wooden mask. They banned anyone from ever accessing its power ever again. This idea would act as a safeguard for the dragon priests, because, after all, who could kill all of the dragon priests and Alduin?
hang on a moment, how about the corpse left behind at the shrine? i mean yeah reading the letter left behind on the corpse pointed out that he is weak, stated that he cant go to the shrine alone and had to have protection, but also he said he was hiding the dragon priest masks, what if he was infact Konahrik and he was hiding his mask, waiting for the dragonborn in the prophecy (us) to claim his mask

Well, you could say that Miraak used to be known as Konahrik, and took on the new name, the Nords are based off the Norse, and they are no strangers to having single characters possessing multiple names. And the shrine could in fact be a lock, with the other masks existing as a sort of, "in case shit hits fan-wards, open lock with masks".

I do think it is likely that Kohnarik is likely a dragon priest that had not been made yet. Most of the dragon priests were duplicitous and extremely powerful. The idea that the dragons would reward a priest for killing his way through the higherarchy is actually pretty consistent with how dragon power struggles go. When dragons kill eachother, they become stronger by taking the power of their slain brethren and climb the social ladder, just as a priest becomes more powerful by taking the mask of a fellow priest. It makes sense that there would be this parallel in a cult dedicated to the dragons. Vallhak may be the only one without a mask because he was powerful even without one, but honorable enough that he would not kill for one. The dragons would probably respect that a lot. As honor is something that many dragons do consider important.

Interesting...I love it!
Konahrik can't be a dragonborn, because at that time miraak was a dragonborn
Kevin Natanael there is no, only one dragonborn at a time, rule. There had to be multiple dragonborn for the septim bloodline to keep the oblivion gates closed as there must be a parent and child with dragon blood for the coronation to work and for the amulet to be passed down, and when the greybeards are asked if we are the only dragonborn, they dont say, yes there can only be one alive, they say instead that we are the only one"That has appeared so far" meaning there was likely another one, and that there had to have been times where more than one were alive at the same time
Kevin Natanael maybe there were 2
why do want to know if he tucks himself in or not, freakin werido
Lord Turtwig667 its a joke
Lord Turtwig667 To make sure we don't become draugr
AKIN everyone knows that only the draugr unstuck their blankets. It lets the monsters in
It's a joke you moron
You never know, Konahrik may be hot and Graenolf might be gay and wants to cuddle.
After that you opend my mind I think it is Shalador. It sound so much better because it sound like he builded the hole labrynthian and the thing outside that takes you to the mask of Konahrik.
That ending joke was forshadowing a great future lmao
666 veiwer
can I just say that I love that you have a follower named "Arturia Pendragon." Wish I knew how to mod so I could try that
Fun fact Konahrik was a champion of the 8 dragon priests who’s soul was preserved in a soul gem which was the divided between several powerful dragons. I literally just searched it up and apparently that’s who Konahrik is/was.
"why donøt you come over to my shrine" *huge tentacle monster appeares out of shrine on the video* "wow greanolf, I didn't know you were into that kind of stuff"
I think the mask was actually created for the purpose of showing status; there would be an incredibly high rank (which was never reached) called “Warlord” and the mask would be given to them upon reaching it, the other masks must be placed because there was originally some kind of ritual involving the other priests to anoint the Kohnariik, warlord, and take the mask. This would also explain the fact that it only exists in the past; it was taken by a thief in the future as it had never been taken.
Going off of what you said here, and my knowledge of the Ebony Warrior, i hypothesise that the Dohvakiin IS in fact, the Ebony Warrior, who after many years of badassery, decides the only real challenge is himself and time travels back to challenge himself.
"And am I single? Well, that’s up to you to find out, gorgeous. Why don’t you come over to my shrine and I’ll tell you." 😍😍😍 I’m literally listening to those words over and over again.
love the little bits of interaction with the audience in this xD
: )
