    I started switching over to the Bauer platform recently. I've been happy so far, but still wondered what the longevity of them would be. I remember when harbor freight was nothing but cheap throwaway tools, so you always kinda wonder about the durability. Well I was working in my shop last night and accidentally knocked over an 8' ladder. Sitting on top of the ladder was my Bauer brushless driver with a 5ahr battery. It hit the concrete hard. So hard that the battery popped off and went another 15'. I figured it was shot. No way it survived. I inspected the battery and it looked fine. No cracks or anything. Inspected the driver and it was fine. Plugged the battery back in it and everything worked. Used it the rest of the night with no problems. Don't be dumb like me and leave tools up on top of ladders, but if you do knock your Bauer driver off an 8' ladder, it should survive. I couldn't ask for a better tool at this price. No one else comes close to the value.

      they were cheap but they seem to have really been ramping it up hard over the last years. I don't know what they pay their RnD team but they are crushing it now. The tough choice is Bauer or Hercules... kind of wish they had interchangeables but I decided on Bauer because it has more tools and I want just one battery platform.

    I have a home improvement/remodeling company, we use all brand tools. That being said, i have a few Bauer tools, about 3 .
    We have the Bauer brad nailer, the mud mixer and planer. They're all working with no issues.
    We have about 4 battery platforms, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Bauer & hyper tough 12v for only 2 tools which are the compact impact wrench and a compact impact driver which i use both to install cabinets because my bigger impacts sometimes can't get into very tight spots.
    Funny story how i got the hyper tough 12v platform but they work for what I use them for.
    For more heavy duty stuff, we use Milwaukee.

    The first problem is it's a brushed motor and brushed motors suck. There's a lot of internal resistance which draws more energy out of your battery and also they create Sparks inside with the brushes that are vented to the open air and that is an explosive hazard when you were around volitile vapors. so " just say no" to brushed motors.

    That case cover might flex some in halves but i doubt it will with two halves put together. I took apart a Milwaukee drill once to change a bearing in it and it did the same thing. Put the two halves back together and there was no flexing. The strength is in both halves assembled and that's really all that's needed... not like it's gonna be used taken apart. Lol.

    Those 3 LEDs is my favorite part for the Bauer lines no other vendor do this and I wish they would because with 3 LEDs you can't miss your target. It improves your situation awareness when doing work. Can you try to see if you can replace the anvil with a 1/2. Aliexpress got them for $4 and their 1/2 comes with a 1/4 built in.

    Yeah,my Bauer impact seems to get hot at the cone top before the,”squeal”. I went into the purchase wanting to support the underdog, & as such, feel my home work needs thus far are met, but I’m always noting performance issues should they change. I’m needing to put some grease in the collet area b/c of some squeals; any thoughts on the type I sh.Use?

    • @JJCCENG
      @JJCCENG  3 года назад +3

      In a light duty application like this, I like to start with white lithium spray or silicone spray lube to keep mess and dirt and dust collection low, then if those don't solve it try the traditional thicker greases like axle grease. Thanks for the comment!

    I'm very impressed by your review here. I'm strongly considering using BAUER or HERCULES power tools for my hotels. DEWALT and MILWAUKEE tend to get stolen as they're highly desirable by tradesmen and thieves looking for something to pawn. My question goes toward those two Harbor Freight tool lines against RYOBI. Can you please review the construction of RYOBI Tools? Would be interesting to see how its differnt from MILWAUKEE since they're both built by the same manufacturer.

      @@JJCCENG, Cost is always a principal business consideration. Thats why I'm looking at Hercules, Bauer, and Ryobi. TTI builds Ryobi, Rigid, Hart, and Milwaukee branded power tools. A head-to-head examination of the Ryobi Impact Driver versus Hercules would really help a lot of small businesses and DIYer's. At the end of the day,... is it the Car or the Driver? The Camera or the Photographer? The Marksman or the Rifle? Yes! Quality Counts! (....does it count as much as individual expertise?) Thanks for all you do.

    I’m not an Engineer. I’m a product user/consumer. Engineers try to design products that will last forever and never fail. The problem is that these products they design will be to expensive for the consumer to afford. I’ve never had any of my cordless tools fail. I have just had battery failures. You need buy to best battery system and not worry about cordless tool quality. The tools can be replaced cheaply, if they ever do fail. PS….I never buy the extended warranty.

    I just got into Bauer string trimmer as my first tool much more power than my b&d stuff 2.5 b&d 20v I must say that b&d's 10inch chain saw is a work horse 5 cords and counting the standard drill is cheap circ. Saw is ok 2 handed cross cut stinks light is ok blu tooth speaker takes a hit dropped off a 6 ft ladder still ticking. Bauer seems a much better product to me I can't wait to really get into this line. Oh by the way I bought a 139$ dollar ryobi 18 v plus one JUNK not very much better then b&d 6 inch lag screws made it hot lol😎

    i watched your video on the Hercules impact driver last night and now this one. On other comments you seem to think Herc is better yet with the Herc you seemed to be very concerned about the lack of debris protection for the brushes. However the Herc had better coating on the PBC where the Bauer seemed to have no significate protection. Would you be able to elaborate more on the differences between the 2 drivers to explain why one appears to be better than the other. IMO seems like we want parts of both to make a better one, LOL

    • @JJCCENG
      @JJCCENG  3 года назад +3

      All that you said is a very good summary of what I think of the 2 different drivers. My goal was to point out the pros and cons and let the users decide which one stacks up the best. If I were going to buy one, it would definitely be the Hercules.. the overall design quality looks superior to my eyes... plus circuit boards are the number one failure component of most products so I will take a well protected PCB over a debris screen any day. Thanks for the question.
