I've found them to be good tools, but I also only use them occasionally. I have Porter Cable 20v tools, and I'd put most of the Bauer line at the same level. Now, at full price I'm not sure that the Bauer tools provide much cost savings compared to going with the "name brands"...the batteries are a good deal compared to name brand batteries, but the tool prices honestly don't provide much savings.

I guess I wasn't really completely sure how an impact worked so thanks for your explanation. Great video as usual. After watching I'd probably go for the Craftsman impact.
Mine just took its last breath, but it has been frozen solid on multiple occasions, and used in pouring rain, and driven thousands of screws, 4” 5/16” lags, and removed hundreds of small bolts on cars, and 500+ metal roofing screws non stop in 90+ degree weather with a 5ah battery, on multiple occasions …..🤔now that I think of it, it has been absolutely tortured for over a year and only cost $65😂
I figured out that Amazon Japan sells corded impact drivers FYI. Ryobi CID-1130 for the price is perfect for most everything. Chicago Electric impact wrench with a variable switch and LaBear adapter for everything else.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. It looks like it might be a competitor for the Ryobi level tool, but not quite up to the Dewalt or Milwaukee league. The price on the batteries might be the best benefit to buying the Bauer. I have a perfectly good Ryobi drill and driver set that shows signs of the batteries needing replacement, and instead of paying nearly as much for new batteries as the set cost, I just replaced them with a new Dewalt set. The batteries are where they "get you."
I didn’t even know that was you. I think that was the first time I saw your face! Lol. I’ve had a dewalt 12v impact for like 5 years now and it’s still going strong. I think on some tools you can’t cheap out and an impact driver is one of them
Not sure if you already have tools, but check out Kobalt, my man. They don't have as extensive a line of tools at the time of writing, but their line is definitely one of the best bangs for your buck and their batteries are priced really decently.
@@hardoncrimefromRS Yeah, the Kobalt batteries are a lot better priced. The Hercules batteries were the cheapest a year ago, but last Summer the prices went up and haven't come back down.

Hello! I also bought this because I needed one quick. It seems a but broke off in the driver, and a piece is still in the bit holder, can this be torn apart? To get it out? I had the aluminum housing off but not sure where to go. Thanks!
I was trying to research if it would be possible to convert one of these from cordless to corded. Your video gives me that final important number to do the math with. That motor says it uses 9 to 300w . I couldn't find the current spec anywhere, just the capacity of the batteries. Since it's a 20v tool, that means the max current is 15A. So adding a XT60 connector to a battery shell, and the matching connector on a 20v 20A connector would be able to provide it all the power it requires. Unfortunately, a 24v power supply would probably damage the motor. The Mabuchi site says it's a 18v motor that they're already overrunning with 20v. The max full charge (4.2v x 5 cell) is only 21v. So a 20v 20A power supply it is. Now that I've answered my last questions, I'm probably going to get one of these, and modify the first battery pack that dies, to allow corded operation. Thanks for your video! I couldn't have done it without you. They don't provide enough specs on the official docs.
I have the bnd impact and have made a few random videos on it if you go to my channel. Its a good impact but the charger sucks and no battery indicator, id get the Bauer over the b and d personally.
Not a bad tool. The inconsistency with internal part choices has always steered me away from HF power tools. An impact driver is an essential tool for me so I would go name brand all day long. With that said, this particular tool would be just fine for me and my average household use. I like the Samsung cells but what’s stopping HF from changing the cells to something cheaper?
Good Video with a thorough Breakdown of the tool my only negative comment is that its not fair to compare a Brushed and Brushless motor tool in the same review as its more od a Apples and Oranges comparison really two completely different things although its nice to see Harbor Freight making a effort on upgrading their Cordless tools Perhaps those Battery packs are good priced parts for other brands Maybe doing some minor Hacking or demo to get to the Samsung Batteries ?
With two battery packs and fast chargers, battery runtime is not longer a issue, so why someone still would buy an expensive brushless driver instead of a brushed one?
I noticed that u have to use the battery and tool some befor u get longer run don’t no why but I have some bouer stuff and that how all mine works but yeah u can’t beat the bouer tools they are just good tool
Yes, I will buy this item. They are well made, and if you get 3 years of average construction work done with them, and they then die, you got your monies worth, and a new reason to get new tools :D
Don't think I'll ever buy cordless tools from Harbor Freight after my past experiences with them. I'm very happy with my DeWalt stuff, and recommend them, Makita, or Milwaukee. This is one of those times to just bite the bullet and get something good, since you're locked into it with the expensive batteries. BTW, if you want any torque you need a lot bigger battery than 1.5 AH, you need 4 or 5. It makes a world of difference.
I think I would rather add a couple of dollars extra and get myself a Milwaukee brushless tool. But, since time was of essence I guess this unknown brand would do too.
It’s obvious you fell in love with this tool before you tore it open. The overmould anchors are weak and not enough. What is a company that makes switches but doesn’t “specialize” in them? Impressed with the motor and batteries though.
Not true. I judged it on its merits. A company can specialize in making something and still not be a top-shelf, premium part. That's what we have with the switch here.
i know theyre pricey but itd be great to see some comparisons between top of the line tools of the milwuakee/dewalt/makita brands be it drills/impacts/sawzalls/circ saws/grinders whatever you please, im sure thatd pick up views and subscribers.. the harbour freight brands really only apply to US customers and even then alot of people dont consider them tools theyd use as a contractor/tradesperson the major brands are world wide and the comparisons between the 3 top sellings brands top tools would be great
For the last 20 years of my career, I was working so much that I had no spare time (I retired a few months ago), and if a tool broke I didn't have time to deal with a warranty; I just got a new one. But I did consider the warranty to be a measure of how likely the tool was to break, so I wouldn't have bought a Bauer. Despite having more time, I still don't want to spend it arguing with people about a warranty - either my wife takes over, or into the trash it goes. But not being so worried about something breaking, since another trip to the hardware store isn't something that might have to wait 10 days (I was always fixing things in the middle of the night), now I might very well get a Bauer, since along with the more time I have less money.
Warranty for a car yes you still have to argue to get the work done!....but personally a 1 or 2 year exchange no questions asked I can't see a down side, as a diyer and home own time is more important then money because well you don't get paid for fixing your own stuff...so if I have 3 project to do in a day and my tool is broken which is better right away exchange or up to 3 weeks wait...for warranty approvals
Ok the others have a limited warranty, meaning it has to be a manufacturer assembly issue or a part defect, otherwise it's not covered. Harbor Freight does not sell warranties or rip you off thinking your getting full protection which only 20% of people actually attempt to use. They offer a replacement plan, you can do anything to damage the tool, cut it in half, soak it in the tub, target practice. Take it in and walk out 5 minutes later with a brand new tool, no questions asked. Even if you get warranty work done on a tool, when your done paying the shipping and you get it back, a fixed tool is never the same. I wouldn't say the others have a better warranty, Dewalt/ black and decker has a 1 star service rating on their warranty program. And since HF does not sell a warranty, you can't say the others are better warranties. Getting close to your replacement plan coming to an end, throw your tool under the truck, take it in and get a brand new one.
I love my Milwaukee but harbor freight just has the best prices and I leave my tools at work. I’m really considering buying a Bauer for at home so I don’t have to shuffle my tools back and forth , after work I just want to go home not pack up and unpack at home then load it up again and well ya know that’s a bunch of nonsense to deal with. At home I just need something that can handle some car work and random house repairs and small personal projects nothing crazy . %50 more power with a Bauer!
Good tear down review but I think you're confused. At 2:30 you state you would normally buy a name brand tool. Do you not realize that Bauer IS a name brand?
Only power tools I have bought from harbor freight are the earthquake xt line of cordless tools and I didnt get the warranties on them I wont buy the Hercules or bauer tools because I have a ton of Milwaukee and Dewalt Tools
Very surprised to see the Samsung batteries in the tool. That has always been a critical link with HF cordless tools. I still wouldn''t buy one as the price is so close to a name brand. Of course I have a few name brand batteries and tools so I don't want to start another platform even if it were high quality. It would have to be a super value to attract me. Don't get me wrong HF makes several even many very good serviceable tools and I have many. I just don't mess with their batteries or their carbide or things needing good HSS cutting edges. We won't know what is BS and what is crap unless someone does to tool tear downs like you are. Forget those ding a ling "unboxing" videos--who cares? I want to see what they are made of and how long they last. You are doing good. Take care. Doug
I bought this impact just to try it out and then bought the Kobalt impact for a hundo. Just skip this one altogether. There are way better tools out there for very little more than the cost of this one.
Once you get a certain brand, you tend to stick with it, if, for no other reason, you can then avoid cluttering up your shop with multiple chargers. So no, I wouldn't buy this.
@@ToolTeardowns I already have a Craftsman C3 system, Milwaukee 12 and 18, Worx, and Lynx from HF, to say nothing of the USB stuff. The tool chest top and the charging station start to look like a spaghetti bowl.
i wouldn’t buy the bauer tools from harbor freight. the price point isn’t there. the warranty sucks and the tool selection is limited. they do have a good price on the batteries but at 1.5 ah, it is a little week.
Brushed motor....but the true killer is it only has two cheap brushes....how much more would it have cost to use four brushes. I'll pass....drive through pls
It's has nothing to do with using two ,four or even six brushes in tandem , however it has a lot to do with a shitty brush card and two little shitty brushes that are very soft. Just because someone drills a few holes with a certain drill or whatever tool they may be using and then they say "oh it's a great" doesn't hold a lot of water. Who knew a Ton of screws would fit in a baggy.
Lol. Jk but I did enjoy the review. I think I'll stick with my dewalt for the extra 30$ tho
If you're a DIYer like myself, that would be good enough.
i know theyre pricey but itd be great to see some comparisons between top of the line tools of the milwuakee/dewalt/makita brands be it drills/impacts/sawzalls/circ saws/grinders whatever you please, im sure thatd pick up views and subscribers.. the harbour freight brands really only apply to US customers and even then alot of people dont consider them tools theyd use as a contractor/tradesperson the major brands are world wide and the comparisons between the 3 top sellings brands top tools would be great
It's definitely a good suggestion. If the channel was bigger and produced a lot more revenue I could probably do something like that.
Wow at the thermo paste
If you have the Craftsman why would you need to get the Bawer Impact. Just curious.
I don't have the Craftsman anymore. I sold it after I was done making the videos on it.
Put a 3.0 amp hour battery in that bauer and problem solved.
I got a 3 amp hour battery and at full charge it actually seems less powerful than the 1.5
I love my Milwaukee but harbor freight just has the best prices and I leave my tools at work.
I would buy a better tool but this isn’t too crusty. Good for someone starting out or if you don’t use it much
Very nice samsung cells
Did the Craftsmen driver die??
No. I sold the Craftsman after shooting the videos on it. I haven't had it for a while.
That thing is massive
Thanks man
Thanks for watching.
Good tear down review but I think you're confused. At 2:30 you state you would normally buy a name brand tool. Do you not realize that Bauer IS a name brand?
Bauer is a Harbor Freight store brand. A name brand would be something like Makita, DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc.
Only power tools I have bought from harbor freight are the earthquake xt line of cordless tools and I didnt get the warranties on them I wont buy the Hercules or bauer tools because I have a ton of Milwaukee and Dewalt Tools
I got that 5000000lb 1/2" earthquake impact and it blows my nuts off everytime I pull the trigger.
Take care. Doug
Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words.
I don't think the amp hour comparison was accurate the tool didn't completely drain the battery.
The battery was depleted fully. I waited a couple minutes and tried again, and it was out of juice. That's just how the battery display on this works.
Don’t buy the cordless Bauer power tools, but the corded Bauer power tools are much better quality. Just my opinion
Do you ever watch the tool reviews by The youtuber AvE? It’s a good time.
credit card can give you a 1 year warranty.
Makes sense. But I'm not invested in one battery platform, so that's not much of a concern for me.
Use it for a year , a good hard year and then come see me.
Tool Teardowns
NO!
Are you sure? lol
HF has become so proud of their tools, for a few extra bucks you can buy good tools!
Can you review the Black and Decker cordless impact driver found on amazon?
B&D brand is usually only good only for Sunday DIY'ers 🤫
Please don't go cheap B&D, it's about the worst thing you could buy.
Can you review the Black and Decker cordless impact driver found on amazon?
Thanks. That's a good suggestion.
