    With the motor being brushed. What would the life span on it be before the contacts wear out

    I'm way late to the discussion and someone else may have already mentioned this but, I'm guessing that by injecting the red second and then the black third the gray had time to cool and therefore compromised the bond between the gray and black.

    Nobody except the Amazon no name brands are making these. Why? A 12v corded impact wrench I can plug into my cigarette lighter? Yes please. No worrying about having batteries, or that those batteries are actually charged! Why is nobody jumping on this idea?

      Im guessing the convenience aspect. It does take more time on a stubborn bolt or nut. I like mine though.

      @@JJCCENG I guess. Maybe I'm just used to the concept of an Impact that is powered by the vehicle because I'm an offroading enthusiast. Guys will fabricate huge front bumpers out of steel tube, seal them up, and make those their air tanks. Then they add onboard air compressors, and they have air tools anywhere on the trail. Would be really nice to have that same portability with power tools without having to rely on batteries. I'm gonna give this one a try. Your tear down was very detailed, and makes me feel like it might be worth the money.

    I have a home improvement/remodeling company, we use all brand tools. That being said, i have a few Bauer tools, about 3 . We have the Bauer brad nailer, the mud mixer and planer. They're all working with no issues. We have about 4 battery platforms, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Bauer & hyper tough 12v for only 2 tools which are the compact impact wrench and a compact impact driver which i use both to install cabinets because my bigger impacts sometimes can't get into very tight spots. Funny story how i got the hyper tough 12v platform but they work for what I use them for. For more heavy duty stuff, we use Milwaukee.

    This is an interesting, but disappointing, seat-of-the-pants comparison. I was expecting test data, at least for the charge capacity - physical testing of the assembly and parts would have been a great bonus - but there is nothing here that proves how the products compare. It's easy to say "this plastic isn't as strong" but it can be argued that it is strong enough for the average home user. Do a follow-up that tests the batteries for capacity and charging speed. Drop testing and similar testing would make a better evaluation.

    The black is an overload but as far as the contacts are concerned that's not over molding that's a process known as "insert injection molding" commonly done in the tooling and automobile industry

  • @jettschenker
    @jettschenker 2 месяца назад

    The first problem is it's a brushed motor and brushed motors suck. There's a lot of internal resistance which draws more energy out of your battery and also they create Sparks inside with the brushes that are vented to the open air and that is an explosive hazard when you were around volitile vapors. so " just say no" to brushed motors.

      I used a traditional ratchet to break them loose manually.... I might have been able to to break them loose manually operating the Hercules also, but that's not what i got it for. I didn't want to stress the 3/8 ratchet drive train any more than necessary.

      Other than like he said he doesn't upload often its because his actual knowledge of tools is very limited. I don't mean to bash him he's not stupid but his experience in engineering doesn't translate very well to tools his knowledge is good in some ways but in other ways not so much. there are just a lot of things he says that to me sound very dumb not because he's dumb it's just his lack of knowledge in the subject like comparing the impact wrench to the drill and being impressed by the size difference yes the impact is impressive but he is way over stating it you can not compare the two they work very differently impacts don't need nearly as much torque from the motor as drills do and that's just the start of the problem with comparing them you can't do it. Do keep in mind that I'm just going based on his older videos I haven't seen his newer ones yet

    • @JJCCENG
      @JJCCENG 7 месяцев назад

      All true. I'm doing tools because that's what people keep asking for but my knowledge is of electro mechanical products more generally. I never aimed at the tool guys but that community seems to care alot about technical details so glad to have some crossover interest.

    This Hydraulic Impact 2760-20 stops working when it's +5 degrees outside and when it's minus outside, it won't tighten a single screw. The instructions say that you need to warm it up for 10 sec. but this doesn't help. I don't recommend it for those who need to work outside

    Have it (duo) since 5 years. Good but three four things dislike: 1) The default 2 Ah battery doesn't have any charge level indicator. Not even on the charger. 2) Light is partly blocked by the tool. 3) As far as I know, the drill and impact driver are the only 12V tools Ridgid ever developped. So you cannot get any other tools that use the same 12V batteries. Exctremely limiting. 4) The 12V is the same price as their 18V, so I consider the 12V to be a bit pricey.
