Really enjoying the various panels Drinker, Echo and BSUP. They are far more entertaining than just about any of the current movies/TV.

2:32:45 best part of that scene when Eric intervenes to sarah(?)s mother was after he takes the poison out of her arm, he said "Mother is the name of god on the lips of children" reminding her about how she's failed sarah, and she actually cares but has given up on herself. There's such a nice redemption arc for her... I identified with the kid when i saw it (i was in HS) and now i can sympathize with the mother, esp because his intervention works (esp. he killed her abuser) but he got her clean and then reminded her of what is really important. She makes breakfast the next day and the girl rejects it and the mom crumbled immediately. And then the girl realized that her mother is really trying, and softens. Every modern parent can relate to not being quite enough, so that scene (regardlees of the greater context) kills by itself
Sounds like the remake misses all the heart of the movie

Definitely agree. Mom was lost in a world of dr**s, debauchery, violence, downward spiral... kind of says "children are the light" sort of deal... and parents really are a kid knows because it's SUPPOSED to be "mom" and " dad" protecting them.

I never understand why people deride the '94 Crow saying "it's very much of its time," as if that's a bad thing. The fact that it's so unabashedly '90s is a huge part of its charm as far as I'm concerned.

It’s aged gracefully when I first saw it months ago and the soundtrack is still incredible and fits with the goth/industrial style of the original comic.
I think they’re saying that because it’s a common complaint to be fair to newcomers but there’s later films in the last decades where they use harsh color gradients to look grungy or gritty or snappy unrealistic dialogue and they have aged like swiss cheese.

1:25:00 - Yes, John W. Campbell's "Who Goes There?" was the story for "The Thing." It was the basis for the '50s version (very, very loosely) and for Carpenter's masterpiece.

Well putting it back up was always the plan. I wonder what is the better gameplan in the long run, unlisting or outright making the original streams unavailable.
Most channels unlist, thus leaving the original recording available to those who have the link.
Those making the original unavailable force a view on their archive channel but rely on people knowing about their secondary channel and actively hunting down the upload.

9:00 Yeah, the main villian in the original doesn't even get name dropped (Top Dollar) and doesn't even really come into the film until the last 45min. I'ts mostly just Eric, Sarah, her mom, and the cop Ernie Hudson dealing with the aftermath of their deaths...

On the topic of Romulus, I don't understand why they didn't just try to ape on Alien: Isolation. It would have been a little lazy sure, but a movie basing itself on a game that's a sequel to a movie would be interesting and the plot of Isolation is so much more self-contained and easy to work with.

  • @J.Hermansson

Regarding the original Crow vs this shit. One of the huge differences is that in the original Shelly is already dead, we only see her in a couple flashbacks. And still you care more for their relationship than you do for the two people who is supposed to be Eric and Shelly in the new one.

Regarding time to upload things. I'm a bit older then you guys, born 1965. I remember uploading my music in wav form on a 28.8 modem. it took all day for a 5 min song, and if someone phoned me during the process it would cut off and I had to restart again.

    TRIGGERED
The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus is one of my personal bugbears - because it was _this_ close to being a fantastic movie, but after Heath Ledger died the entire thematic core of the film was changed, and they did it in the most ham-fisted way possible. They fucked up the symbolism of the Hanged Man, they fucked up Heath Ledger's scenes by recontextualizing his character as a villain, and the film winds up feeling like it wants to entirely reject the idea of imagination in favor of mundanity, because 'LyInG iS bAd!'.

100 mins long...and 90 of those are badly acted, badly written & blandly shot garbage. There is one 10 minute sequence in the opera house which is actually not bad at all. But it's too little too late! The leads have zero chemistry! Bill is a good actor, but surprisingly miscast here while FKA should stick to music because she's a terrible actress! The soundtrack doesn't suck, but the songs feel so randomly thrown in with little thought given to why they're there other than "it might make wake up us Goths"...AWFUL FILM OVERALL!
