To be honest, now one year later - i like those builds more, this at this stage and your "green hulk" than some of the later stages. Great fun to have like that.
That's awesome! I know it's not the easiest thing to do, but it would be cool to see the actual build process for some of these upgrades. Either way another great video Adam, thanks for taking the time to do this! Take care!!!
Not many new ideas under the sun😄, I'm gonna do this to my DB24 and was curious if it's been done before. Trust you to have.😉 Absolutely mint channel, well worth subbing to it👍🏻
Good explanation, thanks! Could one program the stock deadbolt transmitter so that the 3-position cycled steering between crab/2WS/4WS modes, as the stock AX24 does?
Great video. Can you let me know upper link length. I’m using 69 and 61.5mm and the diff is not sitting straight. I think upper link needs to be about 58mm to accommodate the shorter distance to the mounting tabs on servo tray. Is this what you did? Thanks
Now your gonna have to buy a new radio so you can have proportional steering on the back. I just ordered the complete front axle assembly to make a rear steer rig. Have an extra C10 & Deadbolt but wasn’t ready to start cannibalizing one of them yet, plus I have plans for the C10 waiting on wheels.
debating on doing this either to my bronco or c10? was it worth it? i kniow having that switch to turn could get old quick.@TheShop-MiniRc made a second wheel on a remote to steer with the thumb i think? Dude is inspiration for mini Rcs just as you are!!
I don’t have a 3rd channel. I’m on stock electronics. Would I be able to run a splitter cable to the servo in the from and rear and still have 4ws capabilities? I cannot trim end points either with the stock remote..
Do the gladiator, I just picked up one and was thinking of doing this mod too it. However I’m still on the fence for it since I’m doing this same mood to my deadbolt.
I initially really wanted to do the gladiator, but I am concerned about having those big C-hubs hanging down on all four corners with the portals. I've also gotta look at the clearance in the back. Adding the rear steer significantly lifted the rear end of the deadbolt. I don't want that same thing to happen to the gladiator since I did a lot of work to get it to sit how I like.
i know this videos was posted a year ago but I'm just getting into modding my scx24 now.. (mostly copying what you've done with snaggletooth) just ordered a front portal axle and an extra servo and I plan to put the stock at the rear. do you think this will have an effect on the ride height on a stock chassis?
Great content! I just finished doing a fcx axle install on my scx gladiator. Also have rear steer with the furitek lcg chassis. Can someone please make the screws just a little smaller. Maybe we could use the Hubble telescope to magnify and install them.
@@CapeCrawlers The swap was great performance wise. It was obviously mix and match the links. I figured a way out to capture inside link to the axle. About the same speed as the fcx. Just dont need to change gears now. Almost have to have another motor and speed control. Gives you the bottom end control. Nic e to have the plastic axle housing. Cuts weight a lot. Metal diff will be great when someone makes them.
@@CapeCrawlers ya I feel you I did the warthog as my first sat way to high did a ht racing lcg jlu shorty its fun but it has it place like you said ...but lately I feel it takes away from the fun of just crawling my brain hurts after an hour of the 3 ch left right game lol
I tried this with a stock servo, and I have found when trying to climb with the back wheels straight, they feel floppy and turn by themselves. When I have then turned left or right they feel firm. Is this a common problem running the servo through channel 3, or is the stock servo just not strong enough to keep the wheels straight?
I think it's the latter: weak servos. I tried a stock servo on my sons gladiator when we did 4WS and it was the same thing you are experiencing. I added an emax and it was good to go.
@@CapeCrawlers a lot of people don't and I think the tattoo culture is going away these days. Love your videos! Thanks for all the work you do and information you provide

I can do that! I usually dont film the process because it's so tedious and I almost always screw things up and make it harder than it has to be LOL
@@CapeCrawlers Understandable, if it's too much of a hassle no worries!
I’m going to do this to my C10! Thanks for the helpful vid and just waiting for the parts to arrive
Thanks for watching! I also highly suggest a transmitter/rx upgrade that allows for proportional rear steering. It's a game changer!
@@CapeCrawlers yeah I have a spear slt3 that I will use!

Use a Y connector on the servos, and they will work together all the time. FYI
Great tip! Using the switch is a pain, especially when trying to record simultaneously!
But then it just does crap
@@SONNIC_BOOM_RC yes. Or you can swap the pins aroumd in the plug to make the rear turn the other way, and you have 4 wheel steering
@@OlmanEg but doesn’t that fry it
will it allow crab steer too?

Totally, the switch control on the V1 remote is tedious to say the least! It’s wicked fun though!
KoolThingRC has an awesome rear steering kit. ruclips.net/video/8Xe4gdsmdVA/видео.html

In terms of weight still looking for a 60/ 40 distribution ?
Sweet So many more lines with 4ws!
Totally! I have to adjust how I look at obstacles now!
Sweet video, thanks for info. did you have to adjust end point.
Thanks! No, I didn’t adjust anything, just bolted it on and ran it.

Thanks for watching! How was the axle swap? The portals from the fcx are dirt cheap! The Hubble telescope comment killed me 🤣

Might snap a lot of dog bones on portal rear steering can’t trim the rear on unless you got a trick up your sleeve I don’t know of
That’s a good point. I left the gladiator alone for the time being
How did you mount the rear upper links to the stock servo tray? One hole is open for screw to go through, the other is threaded.
I threaded it on either side. The bolts grabbed on both ends, or at least felt like they did!
can u put a y connector to the steering servo wire and have proportional steering.
Yes you can. I see a lot of folks do that and Injora sells a complete kit with axles, servo, and y connection to do it.
I was hoping we could watch and learn.
I should have filmed the actual installation. I’ll do that next time around.
Are you still a fan of rear steer ? I don't see you make a other rigs 4ws
Meh it has its place. I prefer the clean look of front steering. The 4WS throws off weight distribution and chassis setup so much I tend to avoid it.

do u have to run the v1 esc? can i use the v2?
You can do either. Both have an extra channel you can use
Any chance you can look at the shirt I just posted? My emax servo keeps making this weird noise and vibrates when trying to turn
Where is it? I didnt see it on your channel.

@Cape Crawlers thank you very much. It's my daughters crawler, so I didn't want to recommend her buy an upgraded servo with just a guess.
Get some portal axles for it and trim the rear fenders so it doesnt rub
I’m considering the LGRP portals since the hubs are less obtrusive than other brands. Absolutely right about the fenders!
The headlights on my Deadbolt only work when plugged into AUX so I cannot use that for the 4WS. Anyone else have this issue?
Cool!
Thanks! It was a very fun project!
I noticed the spiderweb tat on your elbow, you serve time?
No, and I didn't realize that it had that association until after I got it!

The axle doesnt run in reverse if you swap it on to the back?
Nope, it works fine
@@CapeCrawlers sweettt thanks man, Idk why but that Plays with my brain lmao. It just makes sense that it would run backwords maybe cuz the worm gears
Do it on the gladiator
I’m considering it! I worry about the c-hubs of the portals on all four corners though
It is tricky, I tried to do it but I couldn’t find the right links, hopefully you have better luck
I wanna see it on the gladiator
I’m leaning in that direction! I just have to see what the setup will do for the ride height in the back
Do you need a new remote
I switched to the furitek avatar. I like it a lot!
