    Love this video. I just built a Kykar deck that is all redirects and forks and similar effects. It's hilarious, because everyone wants kykar off the board and I keep deflecting their spells. I run barely any removal because I can usually rely on deflecting someone else's.

    I love cards that promote the social aspects of commander scheming symmetry and collective voyage anything with piles to pick however you gotta be careful and if you pick favorites when doing these things.

    About social interactions. If you play a slow or fast decks, they(your play group/pod) won't like you and wont' play with you or the deck. I was playing Atraxa, Grand Unifier. I told my pod before the game starts, it will take me 20-30 turns to get going and I win by casting Approach of the Second Sun. My pod did not say anything except boast their deck wins around 9-10 turns. They got me down to 2 life. One scoop and I won by casting Approach of the Second Sun in turn 25. Just a 2 hour game. Jumbo has a good hindsight. But playing against a Snowflake, I as an adult have to persevere and be patient. Just laugh at curses and rants towards you. In the end, my FNM is a blast. Played 4 games total. Now back to my day job.

    Chaos Defiler is not only good enough that it's one of my non-synergistic BRx removal spells, but it also adds a spice of randomness.

    I find Manifold Insights to be a better (albeit sorcery) version of Fact or Fiction. Mainfold Insights is 2 and blue and reveal the top ten cards of your librabry then each opponent gives you a nonland card. The rest go to the bottom. Seeing ten cards for 3 mana is amazing, then getting each other player involved makes it even better. Each time I play this card, other players say they need to add it to their decks.

    I am all for fun cards in commander and cards I don't see in every deck. There are super cool and interesting older carddesigns aswell... But breach the multiverse felt like cheating every time I have cast it 😂

    I don't know if it makes my deck more fun, but each of my decks that is in the right colors, has a ninja in it. So all my decks besides my mono red deck.

    I actually think cards like Stunning Reversal are bad because unless you’re losing, it’s a dead card in your hand. If you run it, i see it as you are planning on losing.

      Commander isn't about winning, it's about having fun. And you'll remember the times you got somebody with these cards - even if you didn't win - for a lot longer than you'll remember the game where you ground out more value than your opponents.

    • @tywill31

      @@NateFinch i always hear this nonsense, "we're just playing for fun" but once you've lost 10 consecutive games it's not fun lol. On the contrary i dont remember ANY games i lost and "just had fun," but my most memorable games are those wherein i barely grinded out a win. Those are the best games!

    Your S-sound comes through really sharp. You ought to dampen that a bit cause it's pretty bad on my ears. I like the video idea cause I'm usually the guy at the table that is causing some kind of political chaos.

  • @tywill31
    @tywill31 5 месяцев назад +10

    Disagree with ya, dj my man. 1. Politics in edh is way overrated and not nearly as prevalent as is purported. It rarely comes up, and when it does it's usually a not-so-veiled threat. 2. All these make-a-choice/dice roll cards almost without exception are huge time sinks, resulting in confusion and analysis paralysis. Magic is an intellectual game best decided by skill and strategy, not by luck of random dice roll. (disclaimer: my stance is purely derived from webcam spelltable, or the wild west of magic😄)

    • @jeffreylong1478
      @jeffreylong1478 5 месяцев назад +2

      I think it depends on the playgroup. My playgroup politics quite a bit, more than I’d like at times. But becoming good at politicking can also be seen as part of the strategy.

    • @minine6508
      @minine6508 5 месяцев назад +1

      1. That’s crazy, I’d like to refer you to 1 minute into the video where he says playgroups are different. 2. This entire card game is a time sink, people play Storm decks, the point of the game is to have fun. I’ll refer back to point one where DJ says not all playgroups have fun the same way. Your games may be best when it’s decided by skill, but imo that sounds like a pretty miserable experience.

    • @charliemarlow647
      @charliemarlow647 5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, personally, I'm with DJ on pretty much everything he said. As others have already said in responses, a lot of it is just down to playgroups / personal preference - there's no right way to have fun!
      I think your view is very much the way it is because you play on Spelltable. That's not a bad thing, just how you're playing the game. Spelltable just lacks the same social aspect of playing in person, so randomness and politics are much less prevalent. If you love how you play, that's great! If you want to experience more of what DJ's talking about, try playing more in person (if it's an option for you) :)
