Yeah, I couldn't believe they didn't smash the synth. I guess they wanted to contain the Muzzio trigger, but while 8 looks are probably bad the synth on the field is quick death...
CGB chose it probably because he could kill the entire table with burn and didn't care much for the creatures on board because he had a cyclonic rift. However, he used it maybe too soon. The rabbit commander wasn't lethal. Had he held on to it, he could've used it against the Cyberman Squadron at least.
Threshold has been an ability word since Time Spiral so it doesn't have any mechanical relevance, you just do the thing the card says after the dash as written. You chose correctly.
@@Nefyoni Threshold started out as a keyword. Keywords have defined mechanical functions. When they were reworking rules in Time Spiral it became an ability word. @NickTemperistic correct all ability words are this way. It thematically groups cards with a common functionality. So you can look up a single word instead of the phrase for cards with a similar mechanic. Also, they can make ETBs, attack triggers, or any other trigger that all care about that same thing.
Would love to see Wick get a second chance in a future game, probably my favorite commander from bloomburrow. I just love the idea of rats worshiping a giant snail lol
14:50 Honestly, I had the same issue with the way they used Corrupted on a card in All Will Be One. For every other card it's "If opponent is corrupted, do the thing." for this one card it was "Do the thing, unless an opponent is corrupted". Ravenous Necrotitan. "Corrupted - When Ravenous Nacrotitan enters the battlefield, sacrifice a creature unless an opponent has three or more poison counters". It's literally the only card I know of that you ignore the corrupted instructions if the opponent is corrupted instead of the other way around.

Normalize the "Rhystic Study doesn't have to go in every deck with blue, especially if your commander is a draw engine" conversation with your friends.
There is no reason not to put rhystic study in anything: it immediately replaces itself once it's your turn again (because at least one person won't pay) and from there rhystic study is free value. There is no reason not to put it in. Saying otherwise is like saying "no need to have a sol ring".
@@XpVersusVista I said "every deck", not "anything," which is an important distinction. So here's my rebuttal to the claim "there is no reason not to put Rhystic Study in anything" Reason 1 - Redundancy vs. Synergy: The commander already draws cards with its secondary ability, for the same amount of mana. Granted, Rhystic Study is a one time payment of that mana, but it is also not guaranteed to draw (but it is guaranteed to make the table a little more annoying than before). Rhystic Study in this deck is just redundancy with the commander, where I'd rather see synergy (something that works its ability). Which leads to the second reason... Reason 2 - Staples can contribute to stale (and sometimes subpar) deckbuilding: You mentioned the example "no need to have a sol ring." I would say the same statement "sol ring doesn't have to go in every deck" because sometimes it just doesn't fit the mana fixing. For example, I have Yidris that requires four specific mana values to cast, and the rest of the deck is low cost--so having sol ring is usually a -1 impactful card in the deck. But that's beside the point; to tie back to reason 1: In a weekly commander show that showcases commanders of a new set, I would argue that it's better entertainment to see the synergies and interactions of the commander. Including too many "staple" cards can take away from that, and instead it could lean more towards a good Grixis list with a few rats. Reason 3 - Probably the most important reason of all: Rhystic study can't block a 19/19; a nontoken rat can. But this isn't speaking purely objectively, I'm just making the case for my preferences. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
First, gg and love to cgb and friends❤. But i have one thing to say: this is not the first time Gina gets a bit salty on the show, and i get that no one wants to lose, but this is magic, and you must respect the opponents as much as you want to be respected back. Shae was playing magic very safe and smart, as all players should, just because Gina knew she would loose the next turn, doesn't justify the yells and picking opponent cards up and throw them. Lets all learn to be calm and respecteful to opponents, and if you know you are going to loose, tell them in a gentle way.
Gina seems always too salty especially to Shea... I really really love the Show but everytime Gina is in there is too much spitefullness and Emotion in it...
Gina had it. Sadly she didn’t know what her God could have gotten flipped back to the top side. Attack with three creatures during battle phase and on main phase 2; she could have made more tokens to block. She would have out summon Shae each round and won.

Regarding that threshold card: just so you know, threshold is just a flavour word here. It has no rules meaning. Most threshold abilities are worded in a way that completely turns them off when you don't have threshold, but this one isn't. It works as written: ignore the flavour word. (The same applies to other similar words, like landfall. Words in italics have no rules meaning.)
Threshold is an ability word that gives a card different or additional characteristics if its controller has seven or more cards in their graveyard. So I think you can draw and discard, but no longer discard when you got 7 cards in the graveyard.

I do think not taking out the Synthesizer with the Witch Enchanter was a failed threat assessment but that wasn't on Gina. I get wanting Emperion gone, it's nasty and for CGB especially it shuts down his deck, but it's also a 'can deal with it later' threat compared to the constant creation of karnstructs.
