    For the way the Arlo company has treated me, a 5 year user, I would NEVER give them another dime. I was high on their tech and it serves me well even now, but this company's practices are not customer centric.

    I've been an Arlo user since the early days and I'm grandfathered into a 10 Cameras for $99 a year plan that no longer exists. I thought Arlo's current pricing, even before the new increase, was outrageous. Now Arlo is ending support of their early model cameras. I've already bought a couple of Eufy cameras and I'm dumping Arlo. They were a great option in their early years but now they're just another greedy corporation gouging their customers.

      Eufy?? have you not seen the security issues in the news about Eufy? Shop elsewhere unless you don't mind your cameras being hacked by a 12 year old.

      @@sludog I'm aware of the issue which has been greatly overstated. If a 12 year old wants to hack into my cameras to watch footage of my driveway and yard they can go for it.

      If you cant afford 12.99 a month for these cameras then you aren’t who they are marketing these towards…some of these cameras are almost $300 each. If you are willing to pay anywhere from $100-$300 per camera but can’t afford 12.99 a month these just aren’t for you..

    I've had Arlo for years with and without any plans .I never had any problem with the cameras . To me any camera company can be hack if someone really wants to do that sort of thing. To my personal thoughts is most people don't do there research are read instructions on how the cameras work . Now the only bad side to the app is not really user friendly anymore .Took me several mins just to figure the app layout .

    I have Arlo pro 5. I like them a lot and I do not mind paying for the cloud storage BUT: they must increase the quality of the stored videos. It seems like they are compressing the quality. I advise Arlo to: 1) be clear about if this is the case or whether I am doing something wrong. 2) reduce storage duration in favor of storage quality, if Arlo indeed compresses the quality. 3) make a cheaper plan with a shorter storage time anyway: one week is more than enough. But still: they are very good camera’s that I advise to anyone.

    I just dumped my arlo cameras and I already have simplisafe security system so I have there video doorbell 4 interior cameras with privacy shutter and 5 outdoor cameras and with all the cloud storage for all cameras and 24/7 monitoring and a lifetime warranty on all products that I have I pay $27 a month, can't beat that at all.

    Arlo is such a scam! I can't believe that I can't even use the local storage option THATS BUILT INTO MY HOMESTATION without a subscription. Just another classic example of how consumers don't actually own their products they purchase anymore. I will never recommend this brand to anyone!

      It's pretty bad. I've constantly had problems with the UI, system faults, cameras will randomly shut down or have a battery drain.

      @@apocalypse487 I am going through that now. I have had my Arlo 3 for about a year and I was forced to get a subscription plan just to use it. It was a 3 Camera package I bought for I think $699, which was already pricey. I could not believe there was no local storage option !! I don't mind having a cloud option, with 'option' being the operative word here. I want local storage using something like SD Card, and an option for cloud storage if I wish.
      As I mentioned I have a 3 camera setup that I paid $699 X-Mas 2022. Since there is no local storage option, I had to opt for the cloud base plan which is $12.99/month. That's almost $160/year on top of the cost of the cameras.
      Pros/Cons
      Pro - Good Quality, Good Field of View
      Cons - No local Storage, expensive, no recording during live viewing

    I’m really feeling squeezed by these companies that are going to subscription based services. These products cost so much up front, this is another nail in the coffin of their use for me

    I don't understand why there even needs to be a subscription at all.
    If you have a base station that actively can collect data, why do we need a subscription to unlock features that are locally available?
    Just have a time looped video and a "store" option if an event occurs.
    Such obvious corporate greed.

    So what I’m understanding is Arlo is dropping the 7 day free storage. There is a new app that people aren’t happy with. It won’t allow you to delete anymore than one recording at a time and it’s difficult to navigate. I’m going to continue replacing my Arlo with Lorex. I started doing so over a year ago when Arlo first tried ending the 7 day free storage. Another reason was when I had a power failure at my vacation home the system would not come on when the power did. It was useless until I could get to it and reboot the Hub months later. With Lorex it has SD card storage and it comes back on when the power goes out. I only have two more to replace. I think your shooting yourselves in the foot.

    I was having challenges with one of my cameras a while back, so I shopped around and picked up Eufy Cam off of Amazon as a replacement for that part of the house. It works equally well or maybe better, and offers the seven day cloud backup.

      But Eufy is a China made product and you have to have Internet in order for those Cameras to work, Why is this??? Eufy says your the only one collecting Data on the device,,, Hmmm if this is correct then why do you have to internet for the cameras to work???

    I’m not bothered about support, having only months ago paid a lot for 4 Ultra 2's and a doorbell I just want the Ultras to work again. They went off Friday, it’s now four days later. I don’t seem to be able to email, I’ve tried there number but gave up wondering what money they are making by keeping me waiting ? Such a shame the world has become a snake pit.

    I just bought the 3 Camera Arlo from Costco. It looks like I may be returning it after trying it out after what I read here. I am not going to pay a huge subscription fee period so if thats what they are going to require I will be returning it and Costco should be ashamed for not displaying that information up front. Any thoughts from others on this? Setting it up today after tha batteries are charged.

    I have had arlo ultra cameras and a base system for years….. very reliable system but their website to purchase new items is pretty bad they have two many camera choices and don’t explain the difference etc

      Had Eufy for a few weeks and they worked great but quickly returned when I heard about cameras being easily hacked. Thank goodness for amazon return policy.

    I'm going to leave Arlo, because of this change, my older models are useless and won't work with their current system, and their bundles aren't cheap. I may as well just buy a Reolink POE Four 2K camera setup that costs $300 and not deal with a subscription service.

    I kinda expect free storage to eventually discontinue. Like game servers stop eventually supporting games. So that doesn’t bother me.
    What does bother me is that RTSP is encrypted and they have yet to open it up for general use. So they will be obsolete and not useable in the future. Proprietary sucks.
    My system was gifted to me so I don’t care that much. But for what they cost…

    I have had Arlo Pro for like 6 years and I pay $0 to see my videos up to 7 days 😊 I paid like $400 on a black friday and haven’t paid ever again.

    Great pictures. However, as a user of Arlo since mid-2020, don't buy unless you like frustration. Like having to refresh and and log in again for every single day you want to view video for on the latest Firefox browser. After one views one video, the browser window will not allow you to click on a different day. That, folks, is just the tip of the iceberg who's name is "FRUSTRATION!"...

    Currently a sub but if they go past my sub of 10 dollars a month. I'll sell them and find another brand. Cloud storage is cheap to create , cheap to maintain and the price of storage keeps dropping significantly. No reason for them to raise prices unless they want to drop the price of the cameras and hubs drastically.

    This new update is absolutely horrible. You can’t put your devices in order anymore. Yup have to individually delete videos unlike the old update where I could with just delete all. Use to be able to scroll
    Through videos not anymore. Why can’t they just leave things how they are? Annoying

    I keep trying to sub the app just keeps taking a dollar and telling me my account doesn't have a base sub these are trash. Every video I look at says nothing just the same thing over and over.

    I’m watching this vid to see what the changes might be but it seems it’s only the rental charges. My problem is my 4 Ultra 2 cameras went off line four days ago. My smart box appears ok as the doorbell and two much older cameras are working fine. Information on the Arlo website states that they are experiencing problems with Ultra 2 cameras and are working to fix but owners should keep trying to reconnect there cameras. I am tired of trying and losing faith in Arlo, how much longer ???

      What a pain! There are a handful of older cameras Arlo is dropping support for, but I don't think the Ultra 2 is one of them.

    Cancelled my Arlo subscription, bought a new product that stores onto local local SD card. Not willing to pay all these costs as while we are at the mercy of storing our safety they can carry on increasing costs without a care in the world.

    I bought arlo for the 1st time in 2020, but as soon as i installed and start using i notice it's slow. Not a true live video. I was planning to buy another set but since it's slow and not true live i totally changed my mind. I stayed with ring. Better

    Coming from Vivint, Arlo is more affordable and has better quality cameras and especially the 8 in 1 sensor.

    This might me a stupid question but Im new to Arlo. I have the subscription. I made the first payment when I started the subscription and the 20 of April was ment to be the second payment but nothing was taken from my bank. Are the payments automatic? And if not how do I make the second payment

      I'm not totally sure, @rycharde farnsworth. That might be a question for Arlo support. Other subscriptions we've tried charge your card and send you an email confirmation or show up on your bank statement.

      Not to my knowledge. You might have to go old school and find cameras that work with a DVR system to do that.

      @@localone1597 That's not totally wrong. With the top tier of Arlo's subscription, it has cellular and battery backup. But that means $25/month USD and it's not really designed to run on that all of the time.

    as an ISP i do not appreciate ARLO shit products using the same channel as our wifi routers, this causes a lot of problems that the customers blame on us. ARLO has left me no choice. all ARLO devices and IP address's are banned from connecting to our network.

      They really do can you explain how I switch the damn thing to 2.4 ghz to connect new camera. Customer service couldn't help

      @@Daniel-nv2ps I just got this to work on a new 5S a few days ago. Not gonna lie it was rocket science. I had to do a deep dive with Google, modify a number of settings, and it finally (sort of magically) started working. Not sure I could recreate it if I tried. Better documentation would be great.

    You decide to abandon all of those who made Arlo what it is without any options. No options for grandfathering in those longtime supporters and price gouging them without any sort of consideration or choice. Very inconsiderate at the least.

    Arlo is not a good security camera PERIOD...i wish i can return mine but im past the return window. I would not recommend this camera to anyone this camera has a ton of issues...
    1) zones dont ever work properly
    2) updates will mess up your cameras and you have to go through the process of resetting everything and re-syncing them REALLY TIME CONSUMING like 12-24 hours for the stupid thing to find itself
    3) newer models does not record to your base station even with an SD card you NEED a subscription
    5) does not record continuously even with someone in frame for 10 minutes it will record only the 1st 20 seconds
    5) does not detect people on your property until theyre like 4 feet from the camera
    YOU CAN NOT PROTECT YOUR HOME IF THE CAMERA ONLY RECORDS THE 1ST 20 SECONDS OF A BURGLARY OR ONLY WHEN THE BURGLER IS 4 FT FROM THE CAMERA
    THIS CAMERA IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST PURCHASE IVE EVER MADE
    Save yourself the headache DO NOT BUY this camera

    Cameras are garbage. Useless in the daytime. Triggered all day long by the sunlight. No matter what you do, change sensitivity and change position. Still Triggered. I have found a solution. Throw them in the garbage.
