    I just bought a 2013 s6 I've never had a German car so I had no idea about the air suspension, I really appreciate you going through this step by step and actually pointing that out because I was just going to jack it up and take the brake caliper off 😅 thanks for saving me thousands

      @pnswg01  3 месяца назад

      @puprilla It wouldn't break just like that. However, it will cause premature wear over time. There are 4 level sensors, one at each wheel. If you lift the car up, the sensor will detect that the car is not level and add more air to the air spring in an attempt to make the car level. This will extend the air spring to maximum limit.

      @@pnswg01 oh ok so when I go to the settings and turn it off it stops that? Good to know. I can tell this car is going to be fun to do light work on 😂 thanks for the video

      @@pnswg01just got done doing my brakes in absolute record time😅 those two pins on the back that hold the break in was kind of hard to figure out but then I realized it's those steel clips on the back that you got to shove the back of the brake pad into first then it slides right into the pins. Thank u for your time making these videos

    Very informative. Thank you so much, Patrick. I thought I needed to remove the strange bolts, which require a 5033 socket, and I've struggled to do that with my regular 10-point socket. I broke the bolts and went to an Audi dealer to purchase new ones. The guy in the parts department showed me the repair instruction and told me those bolts were not supposed to be removed to do the brake job. I should have watched your video first.

    A great overview video. A few small points for those who care. Audi recommends replacing the caliper mounting bolts each time it is installed since they can stretch over time. Probably fine for most people to leave as-is, but just worth mentioning. Also, they do recommend replacing the 6 spring plates per caliper (the small discs). Audi official parts are stupidly overpriced, but you can find replacements from elsewhere for around $10 each. And I may have missed it, but did you replace the brake clip or reuse it?

    Outstanding video, Cerberus needs new brakes and I'm seriously considering doing them myself. i am a bit wary due to the extreme nature of the car(highly tuned, no speed limiter). I'll keep you posted !🤣

    Hi Patrick, thanks for the great video. I have a strange situation that arose with my caliper. The metal part of the pad broke off and was rattling around in the little chamber until I took off the wheel. It's the little metal piece that sits on the spots you are greasing at 10:34 of your video. You can see the metal part is part of the pad at 10:46 of your video. Id like to send you some pictures to see what you think. Since you've taken these brakes apart before I'm wondering what use that metal part is? It's pretty badly damaged so I'd have to get a new one if I wanna replace it.

    Appreciate the content. I have to do my front rotors/pads on my S6 sometime soon. Any recommendations on brands?

    • @pnswg01
      @pnswg01  2 года назад +1

      Not really. My S6 is pure stock (No modification whatsoever)
      The brand in the video is Power Stop Extreme. They work better than the one I remove with less brake dust. As you can see the ones I replace is still good. They were squeaking for some reason.

      If your rotors have groves in it. YES. Cut / Skim them if within tolerance or replace them.
