- To my knowledge, there is only one company that refurbishes or rebuilds the Getrag 420G transmission from the BMW M5. And they want $6,000 for a rebuilt transmission PLUS a $1,000 core charge!! Or, you can buy a new one. Good luck with that. I take an exhaustive approach to refurbishing this transmission with no knowledge available to me on how to do so. It was a bit scary.

So far so good!
bless you sir
Looking awesome mate, do you happen to have part numbers for the seals? I cant quite make them out in the video. Thank you!
Yes I do. RealOEM doesn't list any part numbers for the transission, but I was able to find these parts at ECS Tuning. Transmission Shift Rod Seal 23127501582; Transmission Input Shaft Seal 23127501328; Output Shaft Seal 23121222769. Those are the three I used. Let me know if you need anything else.
@@artwerksgarage Thank you! Thats much appreciated.
Did you put any sealing compound on the rear portion of the case when you put it back together?
The case got a Permatex black on the seam, front and back.
Is there any reason why you didn't take the opportunity to change the input shaft bearing when you had direct access to it?
Can you buy the input shaft bearing somewhere? I've never seen one available.
Does someone know what does the bolt on the side of the yellow sticker hold inside
I believe it's something for the SMG automatic tranmission if I recall correctly from a video I watched on turning the SMG Getrag 420G into a manual.
You didn't change any internals?
No, I was too scared to pull it apart any further...
@@artwerksgarage That, and getrag parts aren't actually available. I thought you may have made a breakthrough lol
@@rosemont83 I wish!
