- Metric Mechanic has been rebuilding BMW manual transmissions since the early 80s. Aside from replacing consumables such as synchronizers, bearings and springs we’ve also developed machining steps to help synchro mesh. MM transmissions are known for harder shifts. This is not a DIY video. Thank you for watching and stay tuned. We will do our best to release a new video every 2 weeks.

I have one of yours (Getrag 245) !! You would want to correct the text, it's Getrag rather than Getreg.
Are you guys going to upload part 2? Do you upgrade any parts in the build, and how does it compare to the Getrag 265 rebuilt in terms of shifting quality, durability?

Thanks for the question Brintech Customs but that is proprietary information. We don’t sell tools for dissembling transmissions. Sorry about that. The intention of this video was to illustrate the skill and effort we make in rebuilding the Getreg 420. Thanks for watching and we will release part 2 and an install in the coming month.

Gonna have to buy a used one and maby ill give it a try to disassemble this one and maby learn something
Do all the 420's match up to different E's bellhousings ? ( apart from the smg units missing parts)

@MetricMechanic Hello, my transmission is a factory 6-speed manual (getrag 420g), but I have a problem with the bell housing bearings. Do you have a bearing kit that you can sell me for the bell?
What’s up brotha,
I’m having issue with the gears when shifting into 4th, it jumps right back to 3rd a few consecutive time and goes into safe/limp mode. And then after, the car will drive and just stay at 3rd...
This is a 2005 Bentley Continental Gt but it has the bmw mechatronic type transmission. Let me know what you think please...any response will be appreciated!
