    Very powerful tool!! I used to use Insane Bump, an old add on for Gimp, and it's gone now, with the new Gimp versions. But this is another level of tool, very sophisticated and with a gorgeous UI. This UI resembles Fruity Loops, a nice music software.

    Thanks but it doesn't work for me (Windows 7x64 Pro)
    It runs but does not show any image file as a preview nor does it load images.
    I guess others have that problem too, because it is in the FAQ page of your site.
    Running as administrator and re-installing Visual C++, does nothing.

    This is working better than Adobe Sampler for the heightmaps...... it really gets good useable results. Sampler just produces a lot of noise without a lot of struggling with the settings......... Albedo texture that removes shadows would be nice! =)

    Hi. I installed the Materialize program but could not open any .jpg file. The thumbnails are not visible, they are only blank sheets and I cannot load them. What am I doing wrong?

      you need to instal Microsoft visual C++ redistributal to see the textures. Also, you need to go full screen and expand the size of the dialog boxes to export. should work fine then

    Michael, your product is very cool but you could at least gives answer to some of the questions below! Unreal use how to? Where do we plug some of your maps? Is Smoothness a rougnhness map? Where goes edge in Unreal? Thanks anyway, I use Materialize everyday and found it even better than Substance Alchemist!

    I don't understand a single one of the steps or sections of the program, or why we are doing them/what any of them mean. Not a clue what to set a single slider to. Not at all lol. Oh well.

    • @Arrowmania
      @Arrowmania 9 лет назад +3

      $20 to $30 would be an instant "I'll buy it just in-case I need it" purchase for me. I bought Sprite DLight for similar reasons and use that to make quick and easy maps (lazy programmer - I make about one map set every three months, not a modeler).

      this software is to make maps for your texture using one diffused image, not really a 3d software program.

  • @RichardMcWolff

    Looks like very useful software. I'm currently redoing some "internal" maps for a human figure . Is there any way to generate a Glossy Map using this software?

    • @SquirrelyJones2
      @SquirrelyJones2  5 лет назад +1

      The "Smoothness" map is essentially Glossyness. A specular color map is not currently supported as it uses a simpler Albedo + Metalic workflow.

    • @RichardMcWolff
      @RichardMcWolff 5 лет назад

      @@SquirrelyJones2 Awesome. Thank you. There are just a couple of other things.... When using the up and down sliders there are no input number boxes so matching those exactly for the 4 skin maps for the figure might be a bit troublesome! Any advice on this front? Also, is there a way to make a translucency map, you know to get that red illumination that you see in ears, fingertips and other this skinned areas of the body when light is just so?

    • @SarahC2

      Roughness is the inverse of the smoothness... just invert the image. =) 2 years too late, sorry.

    How do I use the unreal 4 plugin?

  • @podsamopedro3893
    @podsamopedro3893 4 года назад

    Очень хорошее приложение! Спасибо. Но!
    1. Не читает большинство стандартных картинок. Причина мне не понятна. Просто видит сам файл, но то, что он картинка, программа не понимает
    2. Очень неудобно постоянно прерtлючаться в финальный результат а потом обратно в настройку Карт. Нужно сделать так, что бы все изменения моментально отображались на финальном результате без лишних нажатий.
    3. Не хватает размытия в Дисплейсе.

    How did smooth change the way the light is reflecting on the bricks? Wouldn't that have to be a change on normal map or height map?

    • @ProPuke
      @ProPuke 5 лет назад +3

      Smooth is hardness/roughness, but reversed. A smooth surface reflects light sharply - so you have clear sharp specular highlights that suddenly fall off when out of light (so sharper reflections). An unsmooth (hard) surface reflects light less brightly but more evenly in all directions (so no sharp reflections, but receives a little more light at steep angles where smooth surfaces would not)

  • @MrDino1953
    @MrDino1953 Год назад

    Amongst all the mumbling, he never addresses this; for any of the different component maps, does brighter always mean 'more'? For example, in the smoothness map, does whiter = smoother?
    In the version I have, there are buttons P C O S in the control panel of every map type. What the hell do those letters stand for? There's no mouse-over help on anything.

    lol - even the subtitle software can't understand what he's saying. Tip for tutorials - dont mumble to yourself. work out what you want to say beforehand and keep to the script. nice software though.
