you have to enable bimp+displacement in the material options; by default blender is set to bump only. you can also select displacement only, when using bump+displacement it uses both the normal and displacement inputs. you can also use the height map as height in the bump node
While the accent is definitely different (In the comments you said Finnish), it is suprisingly very easy to understand. I didn't have any issues with it.
Great tutorial. This is a very useful tool I'm beginning to understand the process better now thank you. You might mention that people need the node wrangler enabled to use the principled shader short cut. Your English is getting much better now too by the way, well done.
I nice tutorial as allways MrSorbias. When it comes to Materialize I am not agree that it is fast and easy. You need to put in the texture for every socket and the do the tweaking. Takes time. The only positive I can see about it, is that it is free and have a nice and clean interface.
Yeah, there is sides on that definitely. It's not the perfect solution, but I think it's at least easier than trying to build the same with for example blender nodes.
Are you from Finland? xD Because, so far, I though you were Serbish for that accent hahaha Thank you as always, this program is very useful. I used to make normal maps online.
How do you preview changes on material while you work on it? Looking at b/w or normal map while changing parameters doesn't do much unless you hit "set map" and "show material". So you have to work blindly.
Awesome materials in the program. In unity and unreal I'm having trouble getting the same results. Unreal probably could give you the results you want if you are good with their material editor. I'm still learning.
Hi. I installed the Materialize program but could not open any .jpg file. The thumbnails are not visible, they are only blank sheets and I cannot load them. What am I doing wrong?
I have to say, I am not sure about this. Have you tried multiple different files? For example, if the jpg file is too big, there might be some problems. So if you use some file, try to scale it down to some reasonable size. I am not sure what is the biggest size this software works with, but with little testing it could be found.. Have fun :)
Hello, this is coming way too late, but I stumbled to this same problem myself and found the answer. Then I remembered that someone asked this question from me, so I had to come back to answer you. :) So, the solution is in this link. The nickname finepointcgi created his own version of this software that can be downloaded from his google drive link, and that at least fixed the problem for me. I hope it helps you too. :) github.com/BoundingBoxSoftware/Materialize/issues/10
Looks good. I believe that if the textures are well renamed, Node Wrangler will admit them perfectly. Any ideas on the minimum requirements to use it? Thank you very much for the video : ^ )
They are named well, but for example, smoothness map is an inverted version of roughness map, so Blender doesn't know it. They should add a feature for node wrangler imo to be able to add those also with invert node. About the minimum requirements. If it seems that some computer won't handle the texture process, I think they can make the image little smaller in an image editor and try again and I believe it should work. (Just thinking, not sure)
@@MrSorbias shift + Ctrl + T will bring up the principled setup in nodewrangler. It all all the maps and hooks them up. You just have to rename the smoothness to roughness and it will add it. I'm sure you already know this because you are frekin awesome. Do you think if you added it to the specular it would work? Also...poliliogon(not sure on spelling) has a free add-on that works well for adding all the maps. I think it takes smoothness into account. Thanks for your great tutorials sir.
Yes, I was aware all the time of it. This was my way to try to demonstrate the problem, it was probably stupid way tho. 😂 But anyways I think your comment was good and clarifying and YOU are awesome! :) if I renamed the smoothness to specular, it would work, but then I would always need to remember to add the invert node which I would probably forget at one day and then maybe be confused. Anyways, I believe the developers will come up with a solution for this very soon, because THEY are awesome. 🤔
O is for opening images for that texture slot. S I believe is to save that specific texture and P seems to be loading the diffuse map to the selected slot. About C I am not sure, in my tests I was not able to see any effect after clicking it.
I can not get my work to save. Just spent an hour creating them and then created a folder for the textures and (Select) will not highlight for me to save. Any ideas why? Great Video BTW !
Oh, that sounds bad. Tbh I don't know what would be the problem. I have too little experience with the software also myself. I hope you're somehow able to export the maps at least
@@MrSorbias I completely forgot to go into Tile and set the new image size. Once I did, I was able to name the texture and then save it in the same named folder.
AwesomeBump and CrazyBump run on linux. They are not that sophisticated I think but better than nuthing. ;) I could not find a package of materialize for Linux. :((
I don't myself believe that there would be any virus included in the file. At least on my computer, nothing happened and I tried to google if someone has reported something but found nothging. But if you know how to check it better then do it, just to be sure. I think the virus cannot attack from a packed zip file (or can they?) so you can scan the zip file without opening it.
I checked everything, with Kaspersky, No threats !!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍 thanks 👍
I did edit most of my textures manually in PS... You save my time, and made me happy that i cant explain... God bless ya man!

A better way to make textures seem life-like or more realistic. Excellent.
hey man, thanks for the tutorial 👍

Lol
Very nice english?
Can you share/create a tutorial on how to use those maps into Lumion software? Thank you!
Whats up man, I saw this before as well, thanks for going over it! This is very very helpful!
When you read "roughness", say it like "ruffness".

Yep, finland. :p
Excellent.
oh shit, this is gonna be useful for commercial stuff
Are the edge map and ambient occlusion map of any importance? And why are they important? Or is it just there so you can tweak the look at any moment.
AO is very important map. Also edge map can be useful sometimes. Better have it than not have. :)

ctrl + shift + t doesn't work for me, what to do now?
Am I missing some addon? Or something like that in User Preferences?
The addon is node wrangler. I think it's automatically on in 2.8 but you can check in user preferences
Thankyou, this is a very helpful guide Sir

this channel is amazing. thank you for your tutorials.
Could you make a video using the maps to create a material for V-Ray Max? Not sure how to assemble. What goes where?
I dont know why when I save the project, the folder remains empty.

Hello, I installed the program, but I cannot transfer photos to diffuse map (there is a question mark on the photo). What is the solution, thank you.
You can’t install it into your programs folder - try installing into documents or something and it should work!
How would I use this for Lightwave 3D transferring the image to for example also Photoshop I don't have Blender.

A secure program?

So is it basically open source version of substance?
Not even close. And substance painter won't automatically generate your normal gloss metallic etc maps if all you have is a diffuse texture.
Materialize is pretty much exactly like Crazybump which we had for years, but its online and has a slightly different interface.

Yeah, there sadly is not yet Linux version. You might wanna try some windows simulator if it works.
There should be a package that runs within Unity, so if you have Unity for Linux, you can run the program in there.
