- I flew on EL AL B787-9 Dreamliner Business Class from Hong Kong to Tel Aviv. This is a video review of EL AL B787 Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class products. The video shows behind the scenes on EL AL B787 operation from the cockpit and interview with cabin crew. EL AL B787 represents the Israeli airline's best long haul flying experience. All the food served on EL AL is Kosher.
EL AL is also well known as the most secure airline with additional security measures such as interview and baggage screening.
I flew to Tel Aviv in order to get on the last EL AL B747-400 to Rome and back. Don't forget to check out the last EL AL B747 videos:
• Farewell EL AL Boeing ...

Thanks to all of your support of the channel! This year I've flown 130 times, 300,000 miles and created 75 videos with 180 million views! None of this would be achieved without your support! We made it happen together!
This weekend I will share with you all the highlights and my top 5 flights this year. None of the top 5 flights can be bought by ticket or money. They are all exclusive contents made it because of your continuous viewing and support.
Sam Chui hi
You are running out of flights right now on earth ..its time to fly to the space 😜 sam😂😂

130 flights this year? Wow!
Me: 0 haha maybe one day
Amazing your all Videos. Go ahead.
Most, if not all El Al pilots are all ex Military / Air Force pilots. This is also because their commercial planes are equipped with *missile defense systems* (flares, etc.) to protect its planes from SAMs / Surface to Air Missiles.
Do they equip with parachute as well?
So what is the system? Flare and chaff? Just curious. Or maybe that's classified info. Lol.
Why?
@@spindleblood their older planes use flares but the new ones have lasars
@@junruluo4821 Israel has some "enemies" right now, and most of these enemies are their neighbouring countries so..
The plane and crew is nice but Air Koryo remains at the top
That's true supreme leader air koryo is the greatest airliner in the world.
Of course. Skytrax rating is absolute bs
Hey fatso, I'm an American. Where's my Christmas gift?
Highest Incarnation of the Revolutionary Comradeship, you are so right. Kaplarrr!
I thought commies hate jews and love Palestinian “freedom fighters” aka terrorists
Two things one needs to consider when flying EL-AL.
1) The Pilots an almost certainly ex. Israeli Air Force, some highly trained tactical transport, most are figter pilots.
If there is an inflight emergency, who would you feel more comforatable with in the cockpit ?
2) EL-AL have the most stringent and prooven air port security procedures. Other airliners learn from Isreals practical experience.
EL-AL might be a bit more expensive some times, but it's well worth it to know you're in the best hands in the buisness.
I was always scared flying when I was younger but flying El Al put me at rest. The security measures, the actual aircrafts and finally having elite ex fighter pilots pilot your plane puts you at ease.
A huge thank you to El Al for the permissions to take that amazing footage! Awesome!
They definitely take security seriously. I flew El AL in 2006 and I can tell you that they don't mess around.
I didn't fly El Al but went to Ben Gurion Airport to catch a flight out of Israel. Security was so strict that the security people literally rummaged their hands through my luggage (no item of clothing was exempt), interviewed me & asked what was I doing travelling with a group of people (I was with a tour group).
This was the early 1990's & never had experienced airport security this thorough until after 9/11/2001.
well they should do it to all airlines
@@noodlegamer7401 no..
@@noodlegamer7401 the extra security is very expensive and therefore it doesn't make sense for low risk countries to pay for it.
The extra security on El Al is paid for by the Israeli government
@אביהו מה המצב
Sam got access to an El Al cockpit? Dafuq 😮
Ikr😂😂
I got too because of my bar mitzvah
So did I but I'm israeli so...
El Al screens passengers pretty thoroughly so a member of the press like Sam was probably considered a PR opportunity and not a risk, I don't know if it was arranged beforehand or invited but I don't see anything odd.
@Abdul Mtoro III 😄😄
As a Jew who flies El Al relatively frequently between Tel Aviv and the US, I get to experience a similar length flight every time. I am, however, not able to be in business class, so that was interesting to see, and I also understand and am part of the Jewish culture, so it was fascinating to see everything from an outsider's perspective. Thank you so much for this video, will definitely be saving it
It must be nervewracking for Israeli Jews, being surrounded by countries that hate you. But,then, everyone hates we Americans as well.
I think it's lovely that there is a prayer at the entrance of the plane. God should always be first ❤️ Joanne from Singapore 😊

How secured EL AL is:
All the pilots were experienced at the Air Force, theres at least one armed security guard undercover in each flight, and the planes are equiped with anti-missile defense system.
What is sad because Israel is a terroristic country
Experts Bombing civilians...
thats sounds insecure not secured.....................
@@metalgearsolidsnake6978 why
@@ok-zh8pw well you have to have guards and who knows what on the plane, i would not want that with me, who knows what might happen.
El Al is the most protected airline in the world. Back in the day I worked at LAX for a cargo airline and El Al’s cargo aircraft was parked near by always with 2 plain clothes guards with what appeared to be Uzy guns under their coats. Don’t mess with El Al!
I’m actually surprised they let you film the cockpit just given the extra security for El Al flights.
They would only need to see a few of his videos to work out that he's an aviation celebrity and not a risk to them, to consider letting him onto the flight deck.
Perhaps just a camera left there. You don’t see Sam.
@@dash8brj Exactly. They use their brains, not hide behind rules
Rest assured that there several police ppl undercover for security.
Plus the pilots and others from the staff members are ex military soldiers who went through some of the hardest training in the military .

The flight path reflects the diplomatic relationship that Israel have.

We appreciate the positive tone of your review. The "we" is not because I work for ELAL (I do not) but I am an Israeli we are all proud of almost everything we do but are extremely self-critical as well. As soon as we board an ELAL plane, we are at home.
Wish us whites were allowed to be proud of our culture again, lol.

With my 20 years + ( on and off ) of flying with EL-AL , one thing I CAN say without fear of contradiction , is that the attitude from the cabin crew has changed dramatically for the better , maybe it's because air travellers have more choice ( sometimes I fly Easyjet to England) , but the whole set up is light years better than it was even 10 years ago .
Is it el-Al or אל-על
Indeed, I would have Zero fears flying El Al. Even before you step into the airport, you are being watched and profiled like a hawk! The checked baggage goes through an amazing scrutiny!!!
So you've flown both Iran Air and El Al. That's a rare distinction to have 😅
It certainly is! As long as he doesn't have a stamp in his passport upon entering Israel, he shouldn't have a problem going to some of those other countries. But Israeli passport control know about this problem, so stamp a separate piece of paper when you enter Israel.
@@lapamful they dont stamp you show your passport to a laser scanner and then it prints an entrance ticket
What's the problem
I took El AL from Bombay to Tel Aviv in November 1995. I remember the month because Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated the day I left Jerusalem. Any way, I remember being interviewed by El Al security at the gate for several minutes. They asked me all kinds of questions, particularly where I had been for the past few months. I was in India from Indonesia and they were curious about my various destinations. It seemed annoying at first, but this is Israeli security at its best. Even an ant can't get through!
While the security is listening to your answers he's more interested in your body language. They read your body as if one is reading a book
Finally!! A proper review of El Al on RUclips! I've been waiting for this since ages.
Flight attendant (the one who talked about her kids and her life-changing decision) was so lively and happy :) Great video

Sam it's great to see your diverse coverage of cultures and traditional values. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Great video, as always, Sam. Love your videos. Always keep an eye out for them. That retro EL AL livery on their 787-9 looks very nice!! And a very nice cockpit landing!! Wicked sir!!
Great video as always, Sam. I enjoy how you share the stories from the crew members as well as the in flight amenities. I am happy to see new flight videos. I hope we have the worst of the pandemic behind us. Happy Landings!

EL AL has improved so much in recent years. There is nothing like fair competition to make things better. The crews are so much more friendly now. Well done to EL AL. Kol HaKavod!
One of my favorites you've made with the awesome pilot view flying over tel aviv and additional day to night montage.

Absolutely correct friend..noticed how fit he was..all these men and women have had military service...the best...you can't mess with them..
All flight attendants are trained in combat these days. Is he military? Probably tho.
Yes. The staff are all trained in hand-to-hand combat.

I’m so excited that you did this video! I love watching your videos so much. They’re educational and just great. The female flight attendant and I have so much in common. We both left accounting for flying!!! There’s truly nothing like it ✈️
Loved the video, the background music, the infectious charm and enthusiasm of the airline staff & THE FOOD PRESENTATION!!! Lovely.... all very lovely. Good work, Sam Chui.
Why do i hear Eldow whenever sam says El Al. Is it me or someone else felt the same??
Ibrahim Ahmed finally
Yep, he is not pronouncing it right lol
His English is awful!
Mostly when I fly business class I talk with the lounge staff but also with the cabin crew. It's always so nice to hear all the different stories!

I love this video, it's like traveling without leaving the PC. Thanks for doing this Sam! Love from Panamá.
We always joke that EL AL stands for "Early Leave, Always Late". That being said, they are far more on-time now than they were 42 years ago on my first El Al flights.
I do appreciate the extra security of El Al. This is what real airline security should be like.
And still late. As an Israeli, I prefer to fly with other companies rather than El-Al. Unless I have no options..
EL AL is a word in Hebrew.
@@BigPeretz אל על is actually two words in Hebrew.
its, Every Landing Always Late:)
I think there are few more like Sri lankan Airlines Sign UL= Usually late and Pakistan international PIA= Please Inform Allha
Great vid Sam, EL AL Cabin crew seem to be very friendly and genuine people. Props to the lady living her dream as well.
Israeli passengers were and are the most demanding, difficult, often aggressive and unreasonable in my humble opinion. I was often faced with very challenging and embarrassing situations as crew as orthodox Israeli men often refused to be seated next to women which caused all kinds of chaos on boarding.

I loved the flight attendant's story. Admire her. There is a human story behind all the glamour and spark of an airline attendant.
You ever stop to think that each time you land, the pilots are delicately maneuvering the plane into a controlled crash with the ground. Each impact has the potential to go many ways wrong. I consider pilots and crew the heroes who get us there safely!

For my people, seeing the coast line of our country in a plane with the Star of David, piloted by our brothers and sisters, is a very emotional experience after many centuries of exile. Many of us never made it there. Many others who returned came on foot or in leaky boats running the British blockades. Welcome to Israel, dear Sam! God bless you and be well and happy.

Airport security at Ben-Gurion is super tight and not everyone is allowed to use the airport, sometimes you are checked even before you see the terminal building.
I always felt safe that some nut job wasn’t going to cause any problems on any flights leaving TLV.
Like so many words in Hebrew there is no direct English translation but El Al roughly translates to 'To the Skies' or 'To the Most High'. I'm so thrilled you've finally flown and reviewed LY! :) So thrilled you got to enjoy the final flight of that beautiful graceful bird, the only ever Queen of the skies - the mighty B747. So so sad to see them go but so many memories of flying on LY B742s and B744s. Yay! Good on you Sam, so happy you experienced the genuine Israeli and Jewish hospitality and hope you had a great time in Israel, one of many to come. I'm former QF crew and enjoy flying LY whenever I can and always when I head back to the 'Motherland'! Toda Raba and Chag Sameach (Thank you so much and Happy Holidays) Cheers :)
Because they deserve that.
Admon Soshetz this July I made Aliyah on El Al’s 747 “Haifa” it was retired a few days after that flight has already been scrapped.
Armon Soshetz. Shalom-Shalom.
Literally translated 'to-up', but a close translation I guess would be 'upwards'.
- Chag urim Sameach
That's extremely close to Arabic الي العلي Ela Al Ula, which means to the heights, Hebrew shares so much with Arabic language it's just amazing.
El Al's unspoken meaning is: "upward (spiritually)." Because Jerusalem is surrounded by 7 mountains, going to the Temple in Jerusalem required going "up." El Al takes you to ISRAEL (not just anyplace), "up" to the Holy Land, both physically and spiritually.
El Al is my no. 1 favorite airline, hands down.
My first experience flying El Al was in 1988, when I was 10. Miami to Montreal to Tel Aviv. Fantastic. That was also my first flight on a 747z I flew them again in 2001 New York to Tel Aviv on a 767. Loved the flights and the service. I love Israel and hope to travel there again soon.

Fascinating video Sam. To clarify what the cabin crew told you, the biblical phrase el-al, means “upward,” “heavenward,” “aloft” or, most fittingly, “skyward”. The phrase comes from Hosea 11:7, which reads: “And my people are in suspense about returning to me; and though they call them upwards [el-al], none at all will lift himself up.”
wow, EL AL allows you to film takeoff and landings in the cockpit! incredible.

El Al did such a beautiful farewell for their 747 fleet drawing the outline in the sky and you made such a great pair of videos of those 2 flights. Thank You very much for making those videos. I recently went on the final Qantas QF74 747 service out of San Francisco which was nice all the crew stopped to take photos of themselves in front of the plane as it was parked right in front of the window when we arrived back in Sydney. One of the stewards said that the 747 is a very majestic aeroplane and will be missed. The crew said they are very upset that the 747 won't be around for much longer. I was very lucky the crew moved me to business class on the upper deck so that I could visit the cockpit after we landed in Sydney. Turns out the captain and I had been to the same high school. I'm very grateful to the Qantas crew for arranging what they did.
Nice .!!
