If I ran a photography school, this would be the final for the wedding course. Set up a fake wedding in low light.
that would be dope! and no re dos. if you miss the first kiss shot you instantly fail LOL jk but.. maybe
@@alexisrose4221 with kit lenses!!! Lol
I had one back in July. Fortunately I wasn’t supposed to take pics in the dark but since she was my friend I did some just to practice and omg 🫠 it was the worst I couldn’t even see thru the viewfinder. I’m a beginner so you can imagine how nervous I was, even when I wasn’t getting paid. But yeah worst experience ever.
If a wedding coordinator hires a photographer and doesn't put adequate lights in the room, you should not be mad if the pictures come out subpar or full on awful, or if they end up receiving far less photos than usual. People have literally no idea what decent - good lighting is to the success of a photographer!!
So true!
With the time I start finding out that actually lighting might be 95% of a good high level photography
Great work! Especially being the only photographer there, having no assistant and moving your flashes around and dealing with the low light! True pro at work! Keep up the great work!
I really like your technique of action camming the photography, then after adding your commentary. We don't need to hear the event, just you. Plus I think it lets you stay in the moment of shooting, then later tells us what to you is instinct. Good Job.
People think I’m crazy for passing up jobs that I don’t think I can do well but that only hurts you in the end like you said
Hell yeah. I agree. This is the one reason that I am not really going out to find "paying clients" because simply put, I still suck too much, and don't quite have "all the right gear" (which is not THAT much gear)... but wouldn't want to tarnish my name before I even get started.
Another great video, as always. I liked how you stressed that if a wedding is beyond your limitations, don't be afraid to turn them away. It may be a hard pill to swallow for some but could save you major headaches down the road.
One of my favourite videos, I particularly loved the 100% crop shot, lots of noise and you can see noise throughout all the pics and they still look beautiful. I really need to get away from 'noise fear' as this is just a part of photography (for now at least!)
I think we can be so focused on everything being perfect that we can miss the storytelling and what matters. Thanks Taylor.
omg yes!!! I try to explain this to photographers in my area that use flash every ceremony they can. first it produces different quality than the majority. so many do not allow flash. as a result, i just don't and i keep my work consistent in the church/ceremony sites. I don't normally push past ISO 3200 - you are my hero with that ISO 5000+!!
You inspire many to be photographers💕 The mini tips you give away are great for beginners♥️ Keep doing this great work🔥
Another awesome video Taylor thanks so much for your time. greatly appreciated
You are an absolute LIFESAVER. I'm doing my first -evening- wedding, no assistant or anything. A lot is going to be dependent upon weather and I'm a bit worried about the indoor aspect and venue lighting, but you made me feel a lot more comfortable. I've ran a couple of the settings you posted at the bottom of the frame and they're solid. Thank you so much!
Great video and exactly what I've been looking for today! Thanks!
Great work!! Your techniques are always very helpful.
The first wedding I ever shot was a night wedding in October. Talk about a challenge, but in the end it was a wonderful experience and made me a stronger photographer.
I’ve learned so much since I subscribed to your channel, Taylor! Just photographed my first wedding lastnight and wish I came across this video before hand. But, glad i learned a lot for next time!
You are a brave soul ! A wedding at night ,I did one recently and RAIN RAIN RAIN...I was able to save the day in the horribly small 20x20 room seventy people were crammed into due to darkness and rain...your suggestion of the 35mm 1.8 saved me !, don’t go anywhere without it anymore and has become one of my favorites! Thanks!
I usually skip when watching videos. But I was caught with this one and ended up watching the whole video without skipping. Imagine shooting events with less light! You sir is above PRO I can tell. Looking forward to your other video.
Wow! If I just looked at the pictures, I wouldn't have thought this was done with minimal light and at night. I just shot a wedding with a similar situation. Definitely learned some pointers and tips if there's ever a next time :)
I wish this video was up a couple days ago lol. I shot my first wedding yesterday and it was all after dark. During the reception i was at ISO 5,000 and was worried I had it bumped too high. This makes me feel a little better but was having a hard time getting my flash positioned in good spots to bounce it. Thanks for all your videos though they’re super helpful
Some great tips, Taylor. Thank You!!!
This is awesome Taylor, great job!
I loved this video man. I've shot two weddings and sometimes you never know what you're getting into until you're in it.
Your shots turned out great to be using iso 5000..
This is helpful. One of the first weddings we did was very dark. It was very stressful
Oh my gosh thank you so much for that 100% crop shot! I've always been concerned if I was doing something wrong at 3200 when they turn out like that, and everyone talks about how great the performance is at high iso (a7iii) but I now know it is what it is. You the man taytay
I had a wedding under the full moon this year. Outdoor and cloudy, they forgot to turn on spot lights and I shot it just like you. Trust the high iso performance and don't blind people with ocf. Definitely the right choice for the moment.
Your videos are always educative and inspiring...
Thanks!
I really really like your channel. So good and informative. I’m now a big fan of yours. 😊😊
The exact video I needed today
Awesome Job Taylor, I bet that was pretty tough. ISO 5000 and still able to deliver. 👍🏾👍🏾 Having a flash is key in that situation. Always impressed in your work 👊🏾💯
Terrific Insights!
this video was awesomeness !!!
Oh man..love ur pictures
I love they you put the preset you use as well!!!
Great work👍
oh yeah! Im not afraid to bump that ISO as high as I need to. I still shoot weddings with a 5DMkII and software nowadays does an amazing job reducing noise. A fast lens is a must!
question i will be shooting a wedding sunday one camera i will be using is the 5d mk ii
with only 9 focus points where do i put the focus to get the bride and groom walking and making sure the face is sharp in low light no flash........
@@xpy1 Id say the point above center. when shooting horizontal. thats what id do.
I feel this pain at every November and December wedding in New England it's tough but as long as the couple is aware it's all good
Great content as always! very helpful for us noobs
Helpful tips. ❤️
Amazing..amazing.. You are really good.blessing man
This Channel makes me want to open up my own channel to show everybody how photography is done under every situation with great visual quality that looks like 2020.
N0F4 KE do it!!
Love ur videos!
Thanks for the informative video bro
Greatly appreciated!
Subscribed. Helpful for my upcoming weekend.
Good luck with more progress and success
Why didn’t I just push my iso at the wedding from last week 😩 this video would’ve been perfect! But I’m so glad I can learn for next time 👍🏽
Thank you 🤗
Night photography is useful for me thank you
Kudos to you! That looked super challenging and most photographers would have crashed and burnt trying to document the wedding.
This is useful for me and I'm gonna learn this for my wedding photography someday if I have a DSLR :p
One of the features I never knew I needed until I had it was the 5D IV’s flicker detection. Flickering fluorescent bulbs are such a pain, as you mention @11:00. Then again, I shoot with the 5D and primes, but there’s still a lot to love about the equivalent Nikon setup with the D850 - and capturing a wedding with ambient at ISOs like that (without swearing at your AF) speaks well of any camera. Do you ever use the AF assist light from your flash?
Sir,
This video very helpful for night photography. Very nice. Your a legend.
Thank you sir
You're a wizard!
Thank you ♥️
Great result in this challenging situation !
I'm curious how you approached the technical part of working with high Iso with the couple ? Did you warn them beforehand about the (acceptable but still present) grain that might appear or they didn't mind ?
It's very useful 🤘
This was so helpful. Honestly event venues should really consider the lighting options they choose
Thank you for recording and posting this video! I recently had a wedding in an all wooden restaurant / venue and it was very dark. Is there any other additional advice you would give for that? Thanks in advance!
Damn. ISO 5000. Always enjoy your videos
Superb photography ❤️❤️❤️
AWESOME
Hi Taylor, love the video. It was perfect timing for me as I just undertook a similarly challenging wedding... candlelit. I'd love to see how you processed your images here. I am struggling to find a balance between sharpness and noise reduction. Also colours are much harder to get right in images taken at 4000-5000 iso. For example, the whites of eyes often go pinky red. Cheers from gloomy England!
I don't know nothing about photography, but u r helping a lot bro for my photography skills
Do the clients ever watch these behind the scenes videos? Im curious what they think of it
I think most do. They always share them on Facebook
mikes1984 lol imagine this is what Taylor means when he gets paid for hybrid coverage. “Yeah guys your wedding was shot on my GoPro! Here’s the footage”
@@worldrallyblu haha😂😂
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto How did ypu white balance? how many kelvins?
Beauty of camera
Good lights setup
It’s wow 😮
I've shot amazing portrait at night ceremonies outside at 12800 ISO with a d750 and thanks to the sharpness of prime lens the results came very good I even printed one in 60x40cm and it looks perfect withbasic lightroom pos- process. Those FX cameras are damn good, the key is to get the right exposure when shooting because you are more limited in light corrections at that point
I would rather low a bit and use a flash for a wedding tho :D
Great video
I enjoy watching you struggle... er... um... I mean I enjoy watching you overcome difficult situations. It was very helpful, and I appreciate how you talk through how you approach and troubleshoot each scene.
Just happy 5000ISO is totally usable haha
What an amazing video. Shooting amazing photos AND an awesome video to document it?! Fantastic! How are you dealing with the ISO Grainy texture at 5k? I've got a low light wedding coming up at the end of the year and I'm stressing.
Very useful👌
Super impressed with this! I would have died.
Amazing
Taylor I'm going into something just like this for reception. Outside in a tent, Christmas lights, at night. I have and will be cramming all the info I can take to perform well. This video is awesome!!! Love your work. My first wedding/photo gig was outside night wedding and it went bad. Thanks for the vid, can not wait till your next one
What a crazy wedding.
This came one day too late😭 I shot a dark wedding yesterday and ended up struggling a bit more than I thought I would lol anyways great content as always :)
Smooth shadow
Woah I saw the first dark wedding in October 😋💕
Great work brother... 😋😋😍😍😎😎
Excellent job and very informative tutorial. I wonder what would have happened if you had used the shutter speed at 1/60 instead of 1/100. What I guess is may be you would have risked the blurry image on one hand but a little less iso grains on the other. What are your thoughts?
The flower girl is cleaning up her "mess", bless her heart!!!
I have a wedding coming up next Saturday at 5 pm so were in the same boat Taylor!
Excellent
Great video Taylor! Question - how are you able to find your focus in the dark? Do you use any light to get your focus on point?
Omg good
Really impressive
Geniously congratulation
Extreme talented guy
Inspired
Am a big fan of you sir ..❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥📷📷📷📷
I like it
Really Good 🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦
woooow I couldn't imagine myself with iso 5000.... simply amazing. By the way, when you took their family pictures and how they were walking towatds you at 11:00, did you use off camera flash, yes? Haven't you changed ISO then?
He was running the flash at 1/64 power (the text at 9:45 says that in the top left hand corner) so staying ISO 5000 would work okay with that. He mentions ISO at 9:45 or so.
You are expert
Happy 😊
Love you brooooooooooooooooooo❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glass! Glass! Glass!
great
