I recall trying to listen to animals stories, every morning before heading to school. Trying to find the strongest signal for wls. It was one of those preternatural moments in your life. A fond memory, that stays with you for life.

I freaking loved Lujack. As a kid, my dad gave me a cassette of Animal Stories. I had that thing memorized.

Grew up in the Chicago area during this time. Loved WLS. Miss the old Steve Dahl show too.

Steve Dahl was a self serving tool then, and still is today! Who takes an entire radio station entourage ( and anyone listening to the radio at that moment ) into their wife's delivery room while she's giving birth to his baby? Who does this shit to the women they love?. SHE WAS SO PISSED OFF ABOUT IT but can you blame her, it was a terrible idea! And good for her...... she never, ever forgave him for doing it, and every time someone asks her about it.... she lets shit fly. BTW... Rest in Peace LARRY LUJACK, never missed a show.

During my teens there weren't many radio stations that could be heard where I lived in the Arkansas Ozarks. Most of the local stations were dawn-to-dusk. At night a few Clear Channel stations across the country powered up and changes in the ionosphere combined to allow my radio (AM only, of course) to receive New Orleans, Nashville, and good ol' WLS Chicago. If I was very lucky, conditions would continue to be favorable long enough to hear Animal Stories. One of the perks of a trip to the North was the ability to listen to WLS as much as I wanted. WLS was the source of my Top 40s nostalgia and the good memories of my teens and early 20s.

Ol Uncle Lar will always be the best there is & he's probably telling these stories in heaven right now. I always loved WLS & WCFL when he was there

I know! I got Animal Stories on vinal, an album!, for Christmas around 1982. Best Christmas ever! We listened to it over and over, laughing hysterically. Since I'm older now, I think it's Lil Tommy that starts the laughter that cannot stop. Ahh, great memories.

Lujack was great, but Animal Stories owes a lot to Tommy Edwards too.

I grew up in the 60's in a small town in central Indiana and Super Jock was only thing that I could tolerate before I was fortunate enough to move to California.
