- The Smoking Tire heads out to Adams Motorsports Park to test out the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS. We put it through its paces on the track and run a hot lap to find out if its 200 horsepower advantage is enough to take the lap time crown from our current leader, the Volkswagen GTI.

I own a 2010 SS Camaro, manual and I love it
Same here!
Same best car
Same!
Is it quick or just talk i know its heavy asfuq
This guy is a Mustang lover.
This guy is literally the only person I've heard give a negative review about this car, and I'm surrounded by Mustang and Challenger guys ..
Damn are you review the mustang or the camero?
People can say alot of things about this car but i'm buying and dying in this one
same dude:D
I love mine 😭😍❤️
Yea sounds like he just found a bunch of negative things to say......dude shut up and drive!
I bought a 2010 ss today. Gonna have fun!
I have this car on my wish list ... cars are expensive where I live, I had to wait this long so this car is affordable by me!
Dylan Bradley I just bough a 2010 with 10k miles for 20k. I'm in love 😍 very impressed with this car
Dude these are like 15 k in Dallas . everything is cheaper everyone is moving here lol
Jet Threat Leo North Carolina is even cheaper. Got my 2012 Camaro for less than 12k
@@nandoramirez7736 yeah I'm in North Carolina and just copped it for 10k
Imagine this guy went on to be rich doing this wtf? I was so impressed by ss handling, brakes, steering is awesome, seats are, awesome, lights are awesome, ls3 426 hp launch control and no lift shift ! This guy made it sound like he driving a 80 station wagon
My iroc doesn't have gps or a cup holder and i dont give a fuck its a sports car not a mini van
+Jeremy Sayers Two door minivan really.
+Jeremy Sayers its not a sport car its something called a muscle car
+Jeremy Sayers i'm with you on that, i don't give a fuck its a sport car not a van.
WarmSoftKitty back when the iroc was new it was a sports car.
WarmSoftKitty the iroc was built for corners it was modeled after the iroc race car so it was considered a sports car
This dude is clearly a Mustang driver's boyfriend. It the best muscle car available. The only things you pointed out as downsides were makeup. Its not how she looks, it's how much she puts out. Your bias is obvious.
Yep, clearly obvious.
@juan arcila Agreed.
Brock Gibson so is yours
Brock Gibson I thought I was the only one thinking that the whole video lmao he doesn’t even kno how to drive the car like a man haha
Facts lol
women rank visibility as the number one reason for buying a car??? good cause a camaro is a MANS car
Neerav Reddy I learned to drive in a work truck. you don't know bad visibility until you've drove something like that. Anyone who has an issue with visibility is simply not meant for the vehicle.
Clearly Camaros needs more cooking tools :-D
Neerav Reddy 😂😂😂 I'm a woman and I own this car. Love love love it. My Camaro SS is the best.
Clarissa Adams looks like your a man
My mom has a 2010 2ss camaro black she bought it brand new the day it came to the lot she ordered it a few months before. It's not a mans or a womens car its a whoever got the money and wants a sexy car that's is fast as hell. She has had it up to 145 with me in it I cant imagine what she does when she drives alone lol
As a Mustang Fan and past Mustang owner of over 20 years, that switched to the LS3 powered SS because of ease of modding and actually being fun to work on instead of hell, I can say this review is just pure hater-aid. I DD a 2010 SS and LOVE IT to death. I got over the roof line and visibility issues real quick. That was my only complaint. Drive it enough and learn the car, it's not an issue at all.
Same here I want a 5th gen so I can mod it for alot cheaper
Today you can own one of these for $20k or less. I get my 2012 SS 45th anniversary edition next week. Can't wait!!!
today u can get this model for as low as 8k
Yeah they're dirt cheap now.@@SWViking
LOVE my 2010 Camaro SS. Visibility is fine for me :)
im 6 ft 1
'will it be ok for good visibility and rear passenger comfort?
i have a 2010 2ss and i love it,why did you put it on a gocart track and compared it to a gocart lmao
I watched this when he first posted it, and was sad because I loved it. Then I got a ride in one and I FELL IN LOVE. Then I got to drive one.. and it was the most beautiful memory I have from college. I bought one after a MONTH of working detail at a dealership. NO REGRETS. I am now a tech at the same dealer and I will NEVER get rid of my beloved 2010 2ss RS. This goes to show you it doesn't matter what a review says about a car. People have different opinions and these reviews should be considered entertainment and not educational.
"low roof line", "blind spots", and oh my gosh....... "NO NAVIGATION"! It's a sports car my man, not a minivan.
mine was 40K and I love every inch of it, would agree with the aftermarket exhaust part but that is about it.
Thank you for making good points :D
LOL @ 3:00 Lego-man grip. Nice honest review, Matt.
I like how blunt and honest you guys are with the reviews, good stuff.
This guy Matt does excellent reviews.
Gives lots of info on the driving experience, sound, handling, interior exterior and his personal opinions. Good job, much better than most car reviewers.
gotta love these nonbiased reviews! cough topgear cough
i kinda think the mountain runs ( like most of the reviews or one takes) reveal the true handling, power delivery, etc
its a better car than most think
Great review as always. Its always good to see a dude that just tells it how he sees it review cars.It would be cool to see what the Mustang does around that track in comparison.
so matt, after having tested both the mustang 5.0 and the camaro by themselves, which would you prefer? (as if I didn't already have a guess)...but glad you finally reviewed them both!!
Watch Jay Leno's review on the Camaro.
Saw one of these today , great looking cars if i have to say it :)
Matt thanks for calling it as YOU see it. That's why we watch you and why you are good at what you do!
One of the best roadtest guy ever, man so down to earth. Thks
Well the only "positive" thing I heard is that the mustang is a better car and that this camaro doesn't compare at all even to a V6 mustang that is how this felt lol
Go fanboy go!! LOL ;) ....you just keep thinking that,..Until you meet me at a stoplight! ;)
@BlazingCheerio The real problem with the forthcoming Z28 is that, as far as we have seen so far, nothing they are adding to it will improve any of the things we don't like about this version. More power and bigger brakes are always a good thing, but everything else is going to be the same. Nevertheless, we are waiting for our eventual chance to test one out for ourselves.
Excellent review Matt Farah - I watched a few other car journalist reviews on the Camaro SS, and I feel like they did not really give me a good idea on how it handles or how much of a driver's car it is - you hit the nail on the head. To add on, the in-car view and audio during your driving session helped as well (I liked being able to actually hear the engine)! Awesome video and review!
Your the man Matt!!!! Great review! All the best to you, hope to see many more Smoking Tire episodes.
I’m still getting one thanks for the review 😂😂😂😂
Me too😂😂
This guy is full of shit. In his review of the 2014 Corvette Stingray, he didn't mention any of these negatives like the visibility or the steering "lego" grip, but the Corvette uses the same steering wheel and has the same roof height and blind spots. Sounds like to me he had a slight incentive to give this car a bad review. He also ran it on a go cart track and gave an HONEST review?
You nailed it! This guy is an IDIOT!
Super Man The difference is that the Corvette has better visibility, you can actually see over the hood.
I’m 13 and I’ve always wanted a camaro since I was smaller but this is my favorite style gonna try to get one in the future
@drewetc by comparison, the Mustang has a soft foam rubber and real aluminum dash. And that is even on the $23,000 base model.
@darthemma yes, the seat was all the way down. I'm 6'3" and hit my head on the roof all the time. I also have to lean way forward to see traffic lights, a major inconvenience. And I don't drive a Mustang. I drive a Corvette.
Ya same problem here I'm also 6'3.
terrible review
@PATTYZ102 working on that, we had someone make us a cool XML animation thing, I just need to figure out how to integrate it.
Matt, I just saw a little compilation of a few episodes on Attack of the Show! Congratulations big guy! Hopefully it will bring more people to the show, you deserve it. Keep up the good work and good luck fighting that 1mph over ticket...absolutely ridiculous!
great video! I'm still thinking of getting the ss 2010.
i actually bought a 2006 M5 instead. pictured in my profile pic
+Always Hatin The repair and maintenance cost though!
Yin Tang yea its a bit much but I thrash most cars and get major looks from car enthusiast because they know how much of a beast this M5 is. did you get the SS ?
+Always Hatin still going back and forth between the Mustang 5.0 or the SS...
5.0 all day. my friend has one. 2011 5.0 matte black. The SS is cool but not as cool as an 5.0
A ford enthusiast giving the Camaro a bad review. SHOCKING! Compare it to the 2010 Mustang gt. That car is a P.O.S!!
What are you nuts lol the 2010 mustang GT handled better than this 2010 camaro every review prove it... Just because it was down on power, but that's why the 5.0 engine came back better than ever. The 5.0 GT stumps the shit out of this SS lol using a smaller engine. The camaro has a 6.2L and it gets killed by a smaller displacement 5.0L Stang.. Now that's what you call a POS
george palacios 2010's are junk. The 4.6 is too weak.
Matt owns a Corvette, I don't think that makes him a ford fan.
***** Then go and tell all the magazines that their reviews are bull lol because in every single review of the ss vs 5.0 the ss always gets smOked
haaha anyone can easily figure out that the 5.0 is faster than the ss. The stang its lighter, with 420HP, and close ratio transmission.
Of course there is replacement for displacement its called engineering. The ss has 1.2L more displacement and only made 426HP lmafo... Thats only 6HP more than what the 5.0L puts out lol is that what you call no replacement for displacement haaha the boss 5.0 makes the ls3 engine look like a complete turd lol 444HP with only 5 liters of displacement!!! Thats what im talking about lol...
What do you drive? Exactly...stfu!
Your show keeps getting better and better, Top Gear and you guys are the only cars shows i watch. Its a matter of time before you blow up and get 100k+ subscribers.
@ShepperdW fine, but it's marketed as such.
the only bad thing i hear about this car is the interior. im average height (5'9) so ill have no trouble fitting in this. i dont heal toe. and i dont really give a shit about interior. i just want power and going sideways. and these cars are relatively cheap these days. think ima get one. as for the comment on the clutch. so what if its not very forgiving? people should learn to drive their cars better. not ask for a car that does everything for you like most of the new cars.
I can't see a god damn thing out of my 4th gen either. :)
@furian777 I don't consider the challenger a Sports Car, because it's terrible at every performance test and certainly doesn't feel like a sports car. It's a great looking, comfortable cruiser that sounds good in SRT8 trim.
@citi0rhythm carbon fiber, aluminum, burlwood, well-woven cloth, foam rubber, leather-covered rubber, etc.
Someday i will have this car ...
Keep on dreaming until your dreams come true
I was in the same boat man and I worked hard enough an I picked up a 2010 with 10k miles 😍 was worth it man I'm in love. Keep grinding!
my dad picked up a zl1
aren't all vehicles all plastic -_-
Love the little Camaro on the hood. Excellent and educational review!
@DaBluedude100 *with the exception of the last-generation cars, (94-02) where the SS was the top-performing model and the Z28 was the "mid level" model.
Dude just biased
This guy hated the camaro before he even drove it. I'm still going to buy and smoke your VM. He has no idea how to drive a Muscle car.
I was so obsessed with this car. I was going to buy one. I just seen this video, I got to 4:13 and couldn't bare to watch anymore. So thankful I caught this video.
@squeakywilllive1 you'd have to get it done at a custom shop, and it would probably cost several thousand dollars. as far as I know, GM doesn't offer any upgraded interior options for the Camaro.
How is he unbias, First of all how many of you have actually driven the 10 SS ? I just drove my boys yesterday for an hour around town. Everything Farah says is mostly accurate from my experience . Interior all plastic cheap looking check, Lego man hands steering wheel that has akward grip check, cheap looking gauges check, Quiet for a 423hp V8 unless you put exhaust Check( Mine had exhaust so ok), decent chassis and handling but long and heavy front end check, bad visibility and blind spots check, Gear shifter is sloppy and clutch requires a delicate balance( more than normal)check, Good power and torque check, Not an eye catcher anymore too many around check check.. Think about like this, a pro driver would find even more things wrong with this cars characteristics, so there his review was fine
Im buying a 2014 SS2 LE soon they stepped it up quite a bit compared to these models it looks quite nice inside and out, I still think the gauges in the center are a bit silly but oh well
I think most of what he said was ridiculous.... The most silly is the "Lego Man" grip... Through all of the driving he didnt do the "Lego Grip" until when he was talking bout it.... Silly... And as far as "Eye Catching," thats subjective..... So I can see why people bashed him........
+Extortion I have a 2015 2SS and everything he said was valid lol. Still sounds nice though.
yeah after 3 tests drive I fucked off and bought a subaru
That new camaro is a disaster. This vid is on point.
I feel like "disaster" is a bit of a stretch. A lot of it is taste. I can't STAND driving Mustangs... that doesn't mean it's crap. It just means I, personally, don't like it.
You wouldn't know, you don't own one, they are great cars, don't let this doushebags opinion sway you!
biteme812 I do, actually. I own a 2014 1le which has had some problems. It's not a disaster.
thelonelydirector I don't have the 1le, just a normal SS L99. understeer is the main problem (and can be fixed with a tap of the throttle which brings you into oversteer sadly) but I've seen just minor suspension upgrades do wonders for this car.
The problem I have is with the transmission and the MyLink software. The transmission has been replaced (with under 4k miles on it) and is now grinding into 3rd. The MyLink software just has problems with iPhones. Won't stay paired.
Did the Mustang run that track? You should put all the times up on your website somewhere. Do you think the extra weight and aero drag caused by the extra car on the hood caused the slow time?
do they ever run go carts on that track? it looks like it would be really fun for go carts, but a little small for cars
good review
@ShepperdW I've never claimed to be a pro driver, although I have a pretty solid amount of experience. If you can beat me around a track, good for you, but I don't care. The GTI, with me driving, was faster than the Camaro SS, with me driving. That's a fair comparison.
@PunjabiSherrr Forward visibility is just as big a problem as rear visibility in the Camaro, and the rear "blind spot" visibility is even worse. Backup camera won't fix that.
@p4horror that's awesome to hear that you enjoy it so much. I want to buy one but the prices right now are still a little high. I test drove one a few months ago and liked it. The engine vibrated a few times pretty heavily for whatever reason but overall it felt pretty high class. I love the reports I'm reading about people removing the mufflers and getting hardly any drone. Enjoy your car, vw GTI driver here, big turbo and not enjoying FWD :)
@ChristianFirefighter Adams is a real track that competitive time attack is run on every single tuesday with cars. All kinds of cars run there, from Mustangs and Camaros to Miatas, GTI's, and Subaru's. Just because you drive a Camaro and don't like what I have to say about the car, doesn't mean our methods of testing all the cars on the same track aren't as fair as they can be. If the track was longer, it might have done better, yes, but on our track, it didn't do well. Deal with it.
@donnis618 The Honda Civic Si is a $23,000 car. The Camaro SS's base price is $32,000. For that kind of price difference, I don't want a hard plastic dash.
if people are complaining of visibility you can't drive a LAMBORGHINI or Bugatti. ........Camaro was design as a sport car not a MINIVAN with a big windows.
@630Produktions The theme of this episode was "all show, or not" and the model is Bumblebee on rims, which is about as "show" as it gets.
@TheSmokingTire cool... glad to see they are willing to provide you with vehicles again even if you do not always give sparkling reviews. Kudos to GM for that.
Matt, I'm a huge fan and just wanted to ask: How would one go about starting in road journalism? I wrote for a small car news website before for free but that went no where, because what I TRULY want to do is review cars. So, any advice?
@Roninwarrior7 the point of the test wasn't specifically to compare the lap time to the GTI, that car just happened to be the quickest car we'd tested on that track at the time. We agree that on a track with faster corners, it would have performed better by comparison, but unfortunately, on a budget as small as ours, that's the only track we've got, unless someone else is sponsoring a particular episode and providing track time.
Would the supposed additions coming with the Z28 help take the crown back from the Mustang?
Great review!
@TheSmokingTire Did you pick up the Raptor with the new 6.2 in it?
@ShepperdW I was driving the GTI. So the only fair way is to have me drive the Camaro too.
I appreciate your honesty. 💯
I'm totally diggin that hood ornament.
@allboyshatebras we have 4 different intros that we rotate through, and we're having a friend's band write us a theme song.
hey Matt I hope you get this question, would a 2006 corvette C6 be a better choice than the 2010 Camaro SS??? used ones similar price
thanks
Looking at picking up a low mile 2010 2SS how have you guys liked yours?
Worth noting that Adams motorsports park is literally a go kart track
@Josephalosaurus nothing really, it's just a styling package.
Props on unbiased reviews
What sort of time does the 2011 Mustang run around this track?
yeah, im 6.5" and when i sat/drove the SS i wast impressed, i had to bend my head wayy down just to see stop lights at intersections, and my hair touched the ceiling even with seat all the way down. In the area of looks and power i would definitely give it a ten, and the seats are very comfortable :)
@tyranity Check out the 2011 Shelby GT350. Supercharged 5.0L .
and for the visibility...u can always put the rear view camera at the back
Very impressive show on this one... A semi-home track to race and compare on? You guys are definitely giving off an aura of being a high-quality, legit car show.
My 2015 2SS With the 1LE Package is a beast
Great control bro
@sparias if you've ever been to a driving school (on a race track, not the high school version) , you would have been taught that the correct position is 9 and 3 not 10 and 2.
@JayKay3000 someone commented below that he owned one of those cars and ran a 48.2 or something like that. Quite a few of them were faster than the new car.
Hey Matt, Since you guys do Adams motorsports park alot for your reviews, you should start a lap time board that you guys update with everycar you test there
@sford01 yeah, not a bad piece if you ask me. They did a good job with the editing. I didn't realize how close I was sitting to the damn webcam though!
i own a camaro rs, i must agree blind spots are problem yet after awhile you'll get over that and knows how to park even in tiny spaces..
Very good review :)
I agree with the issues with visibility, some hard interior surfaces(Although many other performance cars of the segment are guilty of this as well), and the user interface issue such as the unergonomic steering wheel and poorly placed pedals, however once you discount the 5.0 Mustang there is just about nothing in that 30k performance car segment that will really outperform the SS around a track in terms of overall speed.
What sort of time will a 2011 Mustang run on this track?
@nbw86 Yes but that's quite a long shopping list. Even on the well-equipped 2011 Mustang, some of the upgrades you mention are only available through aftermarket parts. Although the modern muscle cars are performance-inspired, you have to realize the parts used are not track-ready. They're really just pretty-looking, above average street cars.
@conanobr we tested the GT on Ford's media drive program, and we weren't allowed to just peace out and run it on a track. I have requested a GT to test, but we use the same track for all our testing. It may be small, but it's the only one we got.
@lilshaw696 yeah the white one.
