The Longines hydroconquest boutique edition has a deployant clasp in the style that you like but it has a quick adjust that extends it by like 5mm by pressing a button on the clasp.
You missed a perlon strap, which would have addressed many of your gripes with the other nylon straps. It also has an advantage of breathing better than the others in a humid climate.
Great video Nick, you always keep things candid. The only thing I'll add is that you forgot about canvas. Living in a hotter climate leather is out of the question as it gets sticky and smelly too quickly. I usually go metal bracelet, but if I have a watch on a strap, my personal preference is canvas, as I hate the feel of silicon or rubber, and I don't like the look of NATO/Zulu straps. Cheers mate, and still hoping for that long term review of your Citizen.
There also are cannabis straps, they don't absorb moisture and sweat as cotton would do, they are a natural material unlike nylon, and can be easily washed. I do prefer a good "Milanese" bracelet though, easy to regulate, lasts forever, pleasant on your skin, comfortable in summer. I agree making bracelet without half link and without fast adjustment is outrageous.
"...then you have this tongue of the strap hanging out there looking at you stupid, confused, not knowing, what's going on..." "...18 meters lug width, sounds like an Invicta..." I love this channel
That clasp system for leather strap from CW looks like the ones that Omega makes. Though to be fair CW prices are probably much better, and I'm thinking I should pick some of them up myself.
I have a few christopher wards and love.them, but I despise that deployant clasp on their leather. With small wrists like yours, I find it to be bulky in a way that's uncomfortable and pinches when I put it on. Surprised you like it so much. So much variety in the details on watches. Guess that's why there are so many if them out there.
G'evening Nick 🤓 . Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate it. I've always been a bracelet guy but there's one or two there that I haven't seen before and another style I rarely see but for the most part I stick to my bracelets, however I have big wrists and I recently discovered I actually like NATO's because they're comfortable, they look good and I can pull it off without much if any excess to deal with 😇 .
Maybe because I have a big, or big ish wrist, the deployant with the keepers on the outside doesn't really bother me. Most of the time, my deployant is on the second or third to last hole, so there is just a little bit of extra strap to tuck into the keeper. But even in the case of having a lot of extra strap, it seems like it isn't any worse than using the same strap with a tang buckle.
I like NATO straps, but it has to be the thin variant with slim rectangular metal keepers, in that variant, the excess straps folds and tucks nice and thin in the second keeper on the outside of my wrist and I also like the looks of it. The keeper strap is also thin in those and I don't mind it at all, I actually also like the metal ring on the end of the keeper straps as in rests on the inside of the wrist and visually balances the hardware on the outside. I almost tend to say that the crappier and thinner the NATO, the more comfortable it is. Also, in the nomenclature I'm used to, NATO is the thin style with smaller hardware (be it with or without the keeper strap), and ZULU is the style you're showing, i.e. with oval hardware and thicker strap. An alternative of the Erika's MN strap can be purchased elsewhere for much cheaper, e.g. from Cheapestnatostraps, but the straps is arranged differently (so that it does not stay a closed loop if the buckle disengages). I actually resewed mine to the Erika's configuration, which is quite easy to do. Also, one big point for bracelet - they're really universal for pairing with clothes, shoes and belts of any color, ideal for a one watch business trip etc. On the other hand, NATOs are so cheap and easy to swap, that you can easily match them to your outfit each morning (but you risk ending up with like 20 straps like me..). And a last point, bracelets are great for watches that you get wet as they don't absorb water - even though webbing straps don't get damaged by water, they stay wet for longer.
Only watch I own is the Samsung Galaxy S3 Frontier. Pretty sure most watch snobs would shun it like the plague but it serves it's purpose well and is very customizable. First off it still actually looks like a normal watch, there are endless aftermarket strap options, and you can change the watch face pretty much however you want.
I need the quick adjust feature on my wedding ring. My skinny ass winter fingers and fat summer fries might as well belong to two different people. Someone invent this.
I used to hate NATOs too until I tried Haveston straps. Great quality and mostly single pass, even their full-on NATOs are less encumbered with hardware and flappy ends.
Strapcode just came out with some awesome deployment buckles and their leather is good quality as well. I have 2 of their buckles and they are the kind Nick likes with the tongue on the inside.
With the butterfly clasp you’re supposed to slip the strap through the keeper first before you clasp down the 6 o’clock side of the strap. This keeps you from having to bend your strap to put through the keeper like in this video
The reason why needle straps usually have that much extra fabric, is because they’re designed to go over a thick coat or jacket so you can still read the watch without having to pull back your sleeves or remove your gloves
on Etsy and AliExpress you can get Omega, IWC, Tag Heuer, Breitling, and Hublot deployants, with the tongue the tucks under ... but without the relative company logos. If you want something generic and cheap for watch brands outside of those listed. I’m all for authentic items, as I have them for my Omega Co-Axial Moonwatch ... but often there’s nothing similar that’s authentic for the other watch brands. 🤷🏽♂️
I'm too weak. I stayed away from watches for as long as I could, as I don't want to stop buying knives lol. But there's no going back now. Looks like I'm going to have to pick up some hours at work😂
I hate to correct you (who am I kidding? I love correcting people!) but a Zulu strap is defined by the thick, rounded hardware loops, not the lack of an under keeper strap. You can get Zulu straps with that second strap, and "single pass" NATO without it -- but I guess that's not NATO spec. BTW: when people come to me for advice on buying watches, I always tell them what "This guy on a RUclips knife channel I follow" says, first: "DO NOT GET INTO WATCHES."
"Ahegao deployant straps" so that's why I prefer these.

I think I'll just follow your earliest advice in the video: "Don't get into watches". :)
Great overview! I wasn’t familiar with a few of those.

I really enjoyed this video. It is very helpful in showing and explaining different watch bands and bracelets.
You’re revealing your power level a bit too much with the ahegao reference.
Nick you say don't get into watches but between you and talyor from best damn edc i'm getting tempted more and more.
Perlon straps are nice, and Crown & Buckle makes some really nice single pass chevron straps (Tudor style)
Nick when will you be reviewing that Noble? I can’t wait

What are your thoughts on curved end leather straps? And you posted this video on my birthday, pretty cool.
Might be inelegant, but velcro strap in my favorite. dead easy to put on and adjust.

Thanks for the informative video. A discussion of straps wiith tool-less lug pins might have been helpful.
I have been rocking the casio f108wh for 4+ years now, I cut the strap right after the third hole, and it is the ticket
Awesome video! And boy oh boy that Christopher Ward is 🔥👌
Do you know any ways to fix a latch on a watch bracelet that keeps flopping open
Sadly, no, that usually just means 'bad latch'
@@NickShabazz the band stays on it's just the little flappy latch which used to be very secure

Manufacturers who use 19mm innner lug width should be beaten.
Even worse 23.....
Don’t forget good ‘ol 21mm.
Yeah can't we just agree that 20mm or 22mm is good enough for everything?

Nick’s main problem with someone welding a watch to his wrist is that he wouldn’t be able to switch watches...you have a real problem my friend.
Strapcode sells deployant clasps in the style you like. Not cheap, especially with shipping from HK, but cheaper than Chris Ward. Very well made too.
Like this one? www.strapcode.com/collections/deployant-buckle/products/parts-nt-acc-de-013b It's not very good and the CW looks easier to use

Nixon makes a bracelet that has a locking keeper. Neat feature, but unfortunately only seen on plastic bracelets so far as I know
They'll never do it, but the day Monta sells their bracelet with generic endlinks is there day I buy one.
