    I really like the Milanese Mesh strap. It would definitely add a touch of class to a lot of watches. Great for dressing up a watch that has a dull strap.

    I totally agree with you about changing straps on watches. Its the fastest and cheapest way to expand your collection options. I just did a video this week on changing from a bracelet to a NATO on my SARB017, how it totally changes the profile and look of a watch. Always enjoy your content, keep it up!

    That Heritage strap is quite nice, but the Horween strap beats them all.

    I agree that changing out straps is fun. I own a dive school and I am constantly going from rubber to something befitting the day. I must say that I would definitely not do business with Strapsco. You had a complaint or hesitation with almost every strap. Thanks for the warning.

    I'm one of the "oh no not NATO" people - my wrists are big enough without padding the watch. But elastic zulu staps (stretch webbing , militaire, Luff etc) are really comfortable. Especially on light weight watches - I wear Vostoks on cheap Ali elastics until the fraying gets too annoying. Lots of colour options, simple to adjust and cheap.
    I also love Barton elite rubber - black, blue, maybe one with contrast stitching. Great value and comfort, super tough.
    Most collections will benefit from a basic rally strap too. I have a 20mm but most of my watches are 22 - I keep meaning to get another but get distracted by "Ooh, shiny new watch" :-/
    And mesh straps. Yes. Absolutely, although the fasteners can be fiddly. Bigger watches balance better with sharkmesh - Deep Blue's best product is their discount sharkmesh bracelet IMO.
    Question though - with all these 70s nostalgia watches being released, when will Speidel Twist-o-Flex come back in style? I loved mine when I was a kid, but I'm not sure how well they work with dive watches. Might just fall off. Still, they're cheap...

    I 100% agree. I own a black dial watch, and a blue dial watch. I own a black leather strap, a brown leather strap, a blue sailcloth strap, a blue alligator strap and the original metal strap that came with the black dial watch. So I'm covered. Each strap has it's own purpose. But I do still want one more strap, a gray stray of any sort. I'm leaning towards a canvas, but another sailcloth would be nice.

    I recently got the Sea-Gull I ordered during the 11.11 sale on AliExpress, and a milanese strap was included in the package as extra option to the leather one on the watch. My first experience with these, and I have to agree that it's one of the most comfortable straps you can wear.

    Of course many watches come on 5 link or jubilee bracelets. A Sail clothe strap is another that has a great feel. Definitely silicone or rubber straps for dive watches ... perhaps a velcro on workout or beater watch. I also love a racing style leather strap. Similar to NATO are Zulu or paratrooper. Cheapest NATO straps, which you mentioned, is a great one stop shop to look at the variety out there.

    Heritage /vintage style are best.
    They always make a nice watch look nicer as it's the contrast from a shiny watch to a rougher looking strap.
    Don't look cheap like nato etc but they don't compete with the watch on the eye.

    Thanks for this very informative video. I have given up on the stainless steel bracelet I bought for my Casio Duro (Either too loose and or so tight that its leaving marks on my wrists). I have ordered a Milanese Mesh bracelet off of Ali Express.
    Question is, how much can I adjust it? My lifestyle involves a lot of transition from rough to formal environments and I require something versatile, with a very snug fit, but also dressy.

    Good video Dave! I wish you could have added more watches to the same straps for more variety, and also think that a perlon strap could have made it into this video.
    Any recommendation for a decent or premium perlon strap? I bought one from cheapest nato straps and it was very stiff and by the way the buckle was manufactured, it is virtually impossible to pass the strap through it to secure the watch... So unpractical and pretty much unusable.

  • @adrianmark613
    @adrianmark613 3 года назад

    NATO strap are light and cheap. But my watch doesn't stay firmly on my hand with this strap on. It always slide to the right side of my wrist. Will only stay firm if I set it tight. But it's just too tight and hurt my hand. After an hour, my hand felt numb. There's only 'loose' and 'tight'. No 'perfect fit' when I'm using NATO strap. Wonder why

    • @peoplez129
      @peoplez129 Месяц назад

      What you do is wear it on the next eyelet past where it's too tight (so it's really tight), and that'll stretch it out so where it felt too tight will be loosened up a bit. But that's also just the nature of the material used in NATO straps, the fit always stretches. Alternatively you can just wear it at the point where it feels just a little too tight and then reach your finger under the strap and pull on it here and there to loosen it up. You kind of want them to be a little loose though, because tight straps limit your wrists range of motion. If you tilt your hand down and it feel tightness, that's just not comfortable. The real issue with NATO is that the material is too slippery, and that's why everything shifts soo easy. That's why people use NATO's with something like a rubber or leather backing layer to give it some grip. The main benefit of a NATO is really how the buckle placement is off to the side of the wrist when on, rather than in the center like typical watch bands. So if you're working at a desk, the buckle being off to the side is much more comfortable than the buckle being dead center of the bottom of your wrist. The thinness of the strap also helps in that regard, as it sits more flush between the wrist and palm.

    I don't get why people wear mesh straps. I have one and it looks horrible on every single watch I own. Even though people seem to be very satisfied with it. Divers, chronographs, dress watches, light dials, dark, sunburst, doesn't matter it completely ruins the look. I also don't like it on your Guanqin. Simply because everything is silver, there is no contrast.
