Its gorgeous!!! Lookin like a christopher ward finish. I think mechanical watches are the coolest inventions in the last 5000 years.
I own this exact watch and it's fantastic. Especially on a leather strap. It caches the light in so many ways and is fantastically well made. Go Monta. All the way.
Great vid - I have the same size wrist as you. Is it true that the clasp is quite long for smaller wrists ?
It's a beautiful timepiece that really needs to be seen in person to appreciate.
Yeah but it's an online company, so just video 🤷🏻♂️ I could never buy one without feeling the watch
@@nicolofurlan2278 I have to agree
I bought my wife the pink noble. When she took off her fitness watch & put the monta on, her first words were "doesn't feel like I'm even wearing a watch". It is so smart and perfect for her to wear in the office. I can think of only two negatives. First the hefty import tax (I'm UK based so add 20%) and secondly no quick release for swapping to say an Everest rubber strap every now and again. Aside from that, she is wearing a gorgeous watch, very rare in the UK and a limited edition. Time keeping & power reserve etc performing really well too
It goes both ways. When I bought a Christopher Ward I was immediately charged 9% sales tax (I live in California), and before delivery was charged an additional 10% customs tax.
Such an elegant watch. The Torquise dial one is amazing, as there the dial lives up to that best in class bracelet. (Monta is even more affordable used.) I have that Oris Cervo Volante too, and they're both fabulous dials and cases, though the Oris has the better crystal.
Cervo V is nice!!!
I've been tempted to get one so often. But in the end I went for a longines spirit. Maybe I'll get one if I can find it cheap as they don't appear often in the UK.
They do pop up every now and then on the watchexchange on reddit usually for 1100usd used. Keep in mind it wears like a large 38.5mm.
100% agree with a 36mm version!
I think the Monta is a great value. I would love to check them out in person and hope to make it to the Windup Watch Fair in Chicago this summer, as I'm sure they will be there. The BB36/41 now has gone away from the sporty/dressy combo in favor of more dressy, which makes this stand out more. Honestly, the size is better for me as I found the BB36 too small and BB41 bigger than I would prefer. It definitely is not at Aqua Terra level (except it wins with that quick adjust clasp), but that doesn't take away from the Monta at under 1/3 the price. My farther has the 38.5mm blue AT, so I have hands on with that one. I like that these seem to be standard in their lineup and I can see why.
I think the Noble will wear like a large 36mm because of its larger lugs. I found the bb36 to wear true to size maybe a bit smaller like a 35.5. Yes check them out in person. The noble is the star of the line up! I review a skyquest in a couple weeks.
@@EscapementWatch That Opalin Skyquest is gorgeous! It was nice of Tudor to homage that model. 😉 I just got my Explorer II I'd been waiting on (5-6 months) or I'd seriously be considering getting the Monta.
grats on your new watch!
@@EscapementWatch Thanks! I am definitely in the honeymoon phase. A fun thing was another sales guy at the AD saw me getting my watch (black dial 226570) and let me try on his black dial 16570 Explorer II he's had for 22 years. I can see why people with smaller wrists or preferences would like that model, but I love the maxi dial look, shape and orange color of the GMT hand, and the technical upgrades. The difference from mine having AR on the sapphire and that one was quite noticeable. I waited a little over 5 months and it's my first luxury watch purchase. I'm on the list for the GMT Master II "Batman," but had no delusions about that showing up any time soon. I like the more tool-y/less flashy nature of the Explorer II vs. the GMT Master too.
haha my aunt bought a full gold DAY DATE with diamonds on the markers for $65,000 Canadian and they offered her a batman on the spot for her husband. He said no I don't need a watch. This was during the PEAK of Rolex prices. I told her she could have flipped it and made 10k but she didn't care. She is not into watches. But she's so loaded. So moral of the story....spend more and you will get the batman! They will magically find a fresh batman "IN THE BACK" somehow in a couple days
I've never tried a Monta on but I do have a BB36 and I would be very surprised if the bracelet actually feels better on the wrist. I'm intrigued and I do agree, if they did a 36mm I'd be much more interested.
Agree on the size. Add it in black or anthracite with some decent anti-magnetic properties ( more than a diver's watch) and I'm sold..
I could never get a good fit with the bb36. But the new one has a jubilee which should fix the comfort issue. Plus T fit for hot weather and doing physical activities. My wrist usually grows about 1 micro adjust after a gym work out and bracelets become too tight. So a tool less on the fly 1 micro adjustment is game changing.
I’ve heard from numerous people that Monta’s bracelet is easily the best in the sub-$5k price point
@@JackoWillMakeLives-loveu Wish I could see it in person.
@@jaysterling26 agree.. anti magnetism is quite important in todays world..
I've been cross shopping the BB36 with the anthracite Noble and I'm leaning toward the Noble. Everything I've seen and read about Monta makes me think they'll be around for some time and I'd like to get in on the ground floor.
The smile dial bb36 is totally not worth the asking price
@@EscapementWatch I agree. Plus it feels too small on my 7in wrist.
@@EscapementWatch got the anthracite Noble last week. It's killer.
Thanks for this video! I love that you provide comparisons to other watches in this price point.
As much as I like Monta watches, I always felt the design aesthetics of the brand has been a bit too conservative and really well suited for older people. I rather go with Christopher Ward instead or even Zelos. It's also a bit more expensive than other brands and I think in some ways yes it's warranted but it's a bit too much I feel. Also some of the styles are out of stock usually so yea it's difficult to even buy unless you go second hand or grey.
Cheers for the review.
Zelos HH is great 👍
Very tempted by the Skyquest white dial. Fantastic watches
I review the Skyquest in a couple weeks, it is a tougher sell for me. Personally, I think monta shines with the noble line!
great job thanks for introducing this brand to us.
A great video as usual. Thanks for sharing. I wonder how this Monta compares with the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Automatic 39mm?
Good question! I have very little experience with CW so I'm unsure
I have a CW Cranwell and a Monta Triumph. The Cranwell's finishing does not compare to the Triumph's finishing. The Triumph is also much more comfortable to wear. The bracelet is amazing.
How does the finishing compare to the Longines spirit 37? Also, between those two, which would you choose?
someone just asked this question but here was my response: very similar. Case quality I would give it to Longines. I know that the spirits bracelet is made in Asia region but it is fantastic still. I don't know where the Monta bracelet is made but I'd give it the win in this case. As for the markers and hands pretty much even. I know monta goes the extra mile on the hands and after they coat them they round the edges with extra finishing. Which I assume longines and other major swiss brands do as well. Although the skyquest I will review for next month, the second hand wasn't good. I've modded many watches so I know the second hand is very flimsy. I imagine it is very difficult to finish the seconds hand. hope that helps. I'd go with the Longines personally because I like the sizing better and the history of Longines. If the noble was 36mm and I got a couple 100 off with a discount I'd go noble.
@@EscapementWatch thank you for the detailed response! Your are definitely one of the best watch RUclips channels !
WOW thanks I appreciate the compliment.
Great video! Just discovered this watch myself and now it's on my list. Quick question: what do you mean by "hotspots" on a watch?
like points of issue. Like for example the case back on a Rolex Submariner sticks out a lot and jabs my wrist. So that would be a hot spot.
@@EscapementWatch Makes sense, thanks for the reply!
What a beauty. That clasp is absolute🔥.........🚒!!!! I feel like it's appropriately priced for that level of finish work. I'm quite taken w/ it. TY for sharing it. Cheers....🥃
I'm going to hold out for a slightly smaller one. It looks like a great watch.
Don't think that'll ever happen brother😢
How would you say this compares to the longines spirit 37mm in terms of fit and finish?
very similar. Case quality I would give it to Longines. I know that the spirits bracelet is made in Asia region but it is fantastic still. @Escapement & Watch thanks man! Love the videos!
Like always, a great Review Falling Titan ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I appreciate that
Nicely done video with an excellent description. Have you had the opportunity to look to the new Longines Conquest and if it is the case, would you give and opinion comparing both in terms of quality? Regards!
Yes I have, the latest video on the channel is the all new Conquest 2023. They are very close in all aspects is the simple answer.
@@EscapementWatch Do you lean towards any? leaving aside heritage. Ty for the reply!
monta for its much smaller size
Excellent review. Sharp watch.
Glad you enjoyed it
They really are
This would look so dope in a deep red sunburst with yellow gold indeces and hands.
Interesting. That would be cool. They had a baby blue and pink limited versions I believe.
@@EscapementWatch yeah, ive mentioned it to them before, all they said wash "interesting idea", so hopefully they'll do it sometime
Monta is fantastic.
Sweet piece!
It sure is!
@@EscapementWatch and I like the exact one that you're holding.
Love the watch but I'm wondering if I could pull off the smaller size with a 7 and a half inch wrist. 🤔
yes there are guys who wear 36mm with your wrist size. This watch wears like a large 38.5. more of a 39-40mm on the wrist with its large white dial
I have a Triumph and it looks fine on my 7.25 inch wrist. The watch wears larger than 38.5 mm. I assume the Noble is the same.
Can’t really tell the difference between the Atlas the Noble and the Triumph, they all look like OP‘s
I have the silver dial Triumph from Monta. I wish they would delete the self winding and depth rating was removed above the date.
Where are you seeing bb36 for 750 retail? They go for three times that
The BRACELET for the bb36 smile dial retails for 750. I own a bb36 and I too would buy it 100 times over for 750. But if you go back and hear it again. I'm talking about the black bays bracelet
please, plesse do one in
exquisite
timepieces
Is the crown screw-down?
yes
I like the watch, but hate the brand name. It feel like something is missing at the end..Monta..dunno..
It is best to have 5 letters in a name. ROLEX TUDOR OMEGA SEIKO MONTA it is part of the MAGIC FORMULA TRICK
It’s a beautiful watch but I need 40+ mm to look decent on my wrist.
Monta is very good but trust me for 2k the best choice in this category
is ML Aikon.
It looks ok...not really my cup of tea.
@@watchluster That's what I thought until I actually bought it and wore it,for 1500$ quality of the braclet and integration is insane, polishing, fit and feel, outstanding legibility and dial done to micro perfection.I was just shocked why ML gets bad rep when their product is obviously excellent
and way better than my Carrera.
@@dado380 Sure thing I'm sure it's a great watch but I just not into the design of the watch myself. It gives off the same old man's watch vibe especially the hashes on the bezel. Just not my styling but I'm sure it's a great watch for those that are into it.
I almost got one, but the bezel just ruins it for me, those claw like polished hash marks look too busy, I just know I would get tired of it, kind of gimmicky to me
Amazon Link Broken leads to amazon but not product.
Sorry that is just my default upload description. You can only buy on Monta website: montawatch.com/products/monta-noble-silver-dial
really nice watches, but everytime I visit the site every couple months it seems like there's another price hike on the watches.
Yeah everything is on the rise recently!
For a micro brand the cost should be at least $400 lower. But a nice watch. And I appreciate that they don't use NH movements.
not all micro has to be cheap. Just like how some people get custom hand bags from small leather maker artisan microbrands. They are high quality and high price but not as much as the name brands. The micros focus on LOW sales so they have time for attention to details. There is a market for high end micro and low end micros.
Let’s not talk about Rolex.Or compare
Awesome watch !
When they started to build their own movement, they will be unbeatable.
From what I can see/ find they're Oris money in the UK £1.4k sorry it might be a lovely watch but not for that money
if the bezel was brushed instead it woulda been perfect
finishing close to oris? WAAAAY better in everyway, i have an aquis and a noble, not even close tbh. Still love both
Unpopular opinion: male end links look better than female end links, and if the watch is not enormous it does not matter for the wearing experience. On the female end links that first link of the bracelet sticks out vertically and looks bad. Fight me in the comments below!
I don't like the look of male end links. Sometimes they are too fat like on chrisward...or too thin on other brands. Or even when they are perfect like on rolex they just don't look right, imo.
I wanted to like this, but the design is just kind of meh. Something about the hands feel off. How would you compare this to something in the Christopher Ward collection?
Sorry, it has been almost 3 years since I last touched a ChrisWard. And I never had the detailed camera and lenses I use today. So I can't answer that except Cw seems to be great value. And a commenter down below said looks like Cward finishing so that is a good sign.
I have 3 Monta’s and 3 CW’s and can definitely say Monta quality, finishing, overall is a step up for sure over CW.
Nearly 2K? No thanks.
The price is just too high I think. The Formex has tech and design. The Seiko has the brand. Compared to this, the Manta seems like a run of the mill microbrand with outstanding finishing. Which is not enough.
I know I’m in the minority but I have no love for your star of the show because I don’t like the look or feel of a metal bracelet.
this bracelet is so good it will change your mind maybe?
@@EscapementWatchThat would be an expensive experiment but I have a drawer full of leather straps that would look great on this beautiful watch just in case.
yeah I lean towards leather as well
People need to stop kissing Rolex ass. It is glorified tool watch.
Basically San Martin.
It is just for attention on RUclips as a small channel it helps get eyes on the videos. As it is the number 1 brand the people care about on this earth.
@@EscapementWatch well said.
The problem with monta for me is they are a but boring, very safe design and nothing interesting going on
Swiss made is now a very broad term
I don't know where every single part is from but I do know that Monta's handsets are made in Switzerland and they go the extra mile with feutrage finishing after the hands are complete. They seem to care a lot about swiss made parts going into their watches.
@@EscapementWatch they probably are but I know they are not assembled in Switzerland , I can buy the parts and say it’s Swiss made even if I assemble it in my garage, it’s a very grey area
movement has to be cased in Switzerland to have swiss made on the dial. That is the assembly, especially for monta since the hands are made there too. The owner of Monta travelled to Switzerland last week and has been sharing photos of the 2023 watches and wonders and the monta assembly and QC in switzerland. check out their instagram to see the photos
You could be right I’ll check it out
