  • Many homeowners are interested in becoming good DIYers but they hesitate to try to fix drywall damage because they think it is more difficult than it really is. After many years of doing this, I have some simple techniques to make these kinds of repairs which give great results without it being an ordeal and creating a huge mess. In this video I go through the steps to make those repairs in a good bit of detail and explain many minor details that make all the difference.

Happy Thanksgiving! I will be doing some taping on some areas where a little bit of cracking on the tape line has happened. I am so happy you shared this. Great tips for me to follow. Thank you Rusty Happy Holidays :)

Thanks for watching, Ronda! Yes, the thing I like about this video is that I do more explaining about the process I use to get a nice repair. The problem most people have is they put too much mud on and build a big lump on their wall that immediately looks awful. They also try to fix it in one coat which is always a mistake. It takes some practice, but once you get a feel for how to work with the mud, it really is simple.

Thanks for another video. It's been awhile. I trust you're doing well.
    I'm a lefty, also.
What's on the other side of the wall you're working on? Why isn't pushing the stud into position an option after cutting the nails/fasteners that are holding the stud in place? Since the stud protrudes at the bottom plate, maybe the stud's bottom/end was not properly fastened to the bottom plate.
Why not vacuum up the mouse droppings and other debris?

Hey Art! Doing well and hope the same for you! The exterior of the garage wall is stucco, so I didn’t want to do something that might damage the stucco. It was a pretty simple fix to trim the stud to be able to flush out the sheetrock again on the interior wall. Didn’t bring along a vacuum for this repair as I didn’t think I would need it. No a fan of working in mice infested areas! Thanks for watching!
