The feathery touch speaks. It says you've been doing this for quite a while. Thanks for a video on the skim coat. 👍

Fantastic content as always sir! Do you ever run your butts with the 10" box run? 2 on either side? Thanks!

Also at this stage if you're a box guy taker the time to run the 5" knife along all the box edges wall and ceiling same time as 2nd coat on 3 ways.

Is that hot mud or joint compound and do you mix water into your joint compound or just mix and go?

I don’t use hot mud, I don’t know what it is. I use CGC all purpose mud (red label) that comes in the box. For skim coat I dump the box in a bucket and about 3 cups of water and mix to a creamy finish. Most time I cover the bucket to keep the mud from drying out and preserve that creamy texture.

The amount of water used can differ depending on how comfortable you are with soft mud. But softer mud is better for skim coat.

A good trowel mechanic would use his trowel to feather the edges not a knife

I agree that the trowel has advantages, it’s just that not everyone uses the knife. And I also think that the knifes has its advantages. Knifes and skimming blades have a place in taping I think. 👍🏾😁❤️.

I see you have completely destroyed the floors like all you drywallers do! It's pretty pathetic that you are one of the trades that takes ZERO effort to keep your messes to a minimum, and you cause others huge amounts of work cleaning/fixing everything you destroy with your negligence.
