I was a little nervous to try this but your video really helped and I felt confident to do it! Yours are my favorite tutorials I’ve found on RUclips, excited to try more things from your channel!
When it comes to the egg beater wraps i am often slipping, do you have tips to avoid slipping? Thank you for your tutorials and greetings from germany :)
Can you explain what you mean by slipping? Unless you keep the ankles squeezing tight together, you will slip quite a bit until new tension is applied; say going into this scorpion or going into butterfly. At what point are you slipping the most?
Hahaha! Yes! At least at first. The first scary part of the silks popping off the hip bones when you fold forward. If you keep tension on the fabrics and feel that tightness as you straddle, it will give you a feel of greater control, compared to having too much slack on the silks and reaching lower which feels more like a free fall
What do you mean hold onto the ground? You definitely want to be a couple of climbs up because this drop does lose a bit of height. As you are learning it, be sure to have a spot who will make sure your legs bend to the outside because if they go to the inside, it can turn into an ankle drop and you would need to start higher than how tall you are. So if you have very low silks, wait to try this one until you have access to more height, a good crash mat and a spot. Keep me posted!
@@aerialesteemi used to have a huge mental block with this and yes i was inside and did one climb up lol i can now do it out side without holding onto the ground😅😂 and four climbs up!❤
Yes, def make sure you are comfortable with the Silks and have enough core strength to be able to hang upside down and be able to sit up easily. You also want to feel comfortable with climbing as you need to be high enough for proper clearance. This move needs to be done with a spot to make sure your feet go to the outsides instead of through the middle which would make you drop much further than intended. I’d make sure you have all the fundamentals down before moving on to this.
Hi Hazel! Getting the wrap initially can be a little tricky but become much easier with practice. You can alternate legs which a lot of people find easier. That means when one is scooping backwards, the other is in the front lifting upwards, like how an egg beater works. This way your legs are less likely to collide with each other. Typically, a bent arm hold is an easier position for wrapping since you have more mobility in your lower half. It’s important to scoop the silks by circling your leg from the outside to inside and once you catch the fabric, lift your leg up high- almost to 90 degrees from your hip, so that you can sweep the leg backwards to then swing it around and catch the silk a second time without losing your first fabric. Then you bring your ankles together at the bottom, squeezing your heels together to hold the tension until you can transfer the tension to holding the silks in your hands. I hope this helps!
Yes, there is! It's from a same side hook inversion; also called catchers wrap, then wrapping the bottom leg two more times and pulling the foot towards the head. Its a very different move from this one.
@@melanieeberheart7999 I don't presently have a tutorial filmed for it, but once I do, I'll let you know! All the ones I will be posting are pre-recorded before Covid and waiting to be edited. But I do have one for Catcher's Wrap I'll be posting soon. Keep on the lookout!
Hi Melanie! I wanted to let you know I just uploaded a catchers wrap tutorial. For "scorpion" instead of just wrapping the tail into the thigh once, you would wrap the tail around the leg 2-3 more times with the last wrap going over the ankle. Then you would square your hips and pull the wrapped foot towards the head. If you type "catchers wrap" into the google search bar you should see multiple examples of it! Thanks for visiting my channel!
Thanks to your video for the first time I did it I’m so thankful for this video your an amazing teacher 😊😊😊
Yay! This is so awesome to hear! Thank you ☺️ I’m so glad it helped you. How long have you been practicing silks?

Is it normal to feel like your free falling and are going to die?

Is there anything I need to be able to do before attempting? I have a good amount of flexibility especially in my back but I'm fairly new to silks.

There are lots of moves to show off your wonderful flexibility!

You called it a "double" scorpion. Is there such a thing as a single? If so, what does it look like?
Yes, there is! It's from a same side hook inversion; also called catchers wrap, then wrapping the bottom leg two more times and pulling the foot towards the head. Its a very different move from this one.
@@aerialesteem Any chance you'll upload a video of that one?? If not, I can always look it up lol Thanks for replying!
