    People needing 33s and a lift, 4wd triple locked and this guy just does it in a Falcon. I love it. I wish I knew more of WA to explore.

    i have falcon Au wagon 2002 model, 6 cylender LPG & petrol. lots of people come to me on car parks, to chat and ask about my car, and compliment me for having falcon. i bought my falcon due to its back cabin size and power. but over time people being interested in it, even my brother and friends offer me to sell them. due to such amount of attention i kinda love being falcon owner hehehe
    from reliability point of u, i did some maintenance myself , pretty easy to maintain, easy to order parts on ebay, and car is heavy as fuck, solid steel parts i think. it has over 450k mileage still runs without issues. a taxi driver on car parks told me, he once used to drive falcon for 13cabs many years ago, crossed 1000k was still strong. 13 cab taxi company in melbourne has still some of them in service left from 2002 he said.

    Foresters on a lift with the right tires are very capable off-road, you don't need to spend big money to get something that can handle itself in rough terrain, you just need big money to spend on the head gasket when it fails

      @@underdogoffroad9847 No probs!
      I see that you guys do a bit of adventuring in more of a professional type level (meaning are properly prepaired not like all the weekend worriors making vids lately) and notice using uhf radios? Check out one of our fb pages, Aussie 4x4 CB am/ssb users as it explains about fitting an am/ssb as a backup CB as youd be aware of the uhfs limited 5w piss weak 3km range. As you guys would adventure further out than the others, might be worth your while fitting even a $50 'AM' Cb to give you 30-40km as after 'overrange' with the uhf, no mobile signal...the AM Cb may then be your lifeline.. We usually only inform 4x4 and adventuring guys like yourselves to keep the yobbos and swearing crap off our airwaves. Cheers.👍

      @@theozBandit Thanks! We try to get to remote places in a safe civilised manor. Not interested mindless yobbos thrashing gear . In terms of comms, we have UHFs, I have a phone booster and Chris has a Satellite phone. Those ssb radios look like they’d come in handy for even basic things like a group getting split up or guiding people into a meet up spot on the first night. Might have to get one before the next big trip. Cheers!

      @@underdogoffroad9847 no probs, I thought that youd have other coms like Sat phones etc as you guys got it all together 👍
      Not sure if aware as many dont realise but the AM cbs are the two ways everyone used before all going to uhf and turning it into the crap is now. We still have uhfs but they sit on scan and we use the AM CBs cause they just go way further and all the users use the coms with resepect.
      You can either buy cheap 2nd hand AM only cb for as little as $20, or pay a bit more for a quality unit as a Uniden AX144 for around $60, it is also a ssb cb so you can press a button (turns power up to 15w+ and totally legal) and talk up to others 70km away or even at night talk to others over 8000kms away and all over the world as we do when camping out in outback due to our clear skys! We recently had a convo with a group of 19 x 4x4ers in Canada on a exploring trip, all set up camp in snow at -18... while we were sitting round a fire at Mt Augustus 28 degrees! Now that would been awesome content for your channel! 😊 Alot of the others in group have splashed out couple hundred and gone for the new digital Uniden 980 am/ssb CB and have spoken to others on a highway straight in WA north 89kms away....making uhf look rediculous!
      Anyway, just wanted to pass on as much info as possible as you guys are exactly type guys we love to talk to on the Cb when out.
      Will gladly be spreading the word about your channel and same on FB...so no doubt will chat again.
      Cheers

    Bugga me; you're a breath of flesh air after all the 4x4 modification marketing bs about all the **** we seemingly "have to have" to drive off the bitumen these days. You are doing ; but doing more, and better than I did 30-40 years ago in standard holden utes and wagons (and a FX wagon (??) .
    Found your "stick that in ya pipe and smoke it" videos while searching ideas to go back to a 2wd bush road vehicle . Clearance IMO is the more important factor ..
    Am finding your audio a bit (like a lot ;)) rough so I likely missed a few bits .
    Diff locks and ratio ? Could you explain that a little more please ? Also wheel size?
    Auto better than manual in your opinion ?
    Ever thought about a suspension lift ?
    Apart from the falcon; any suggestion for other vehicles to consider .
    "Very educational" is how I would describe your eye opening videos .
    We only need to look at the cars used after the horse and buggy days and where they actually went to realise a 2wd car can a long way off road when just a little common sense used .
    Thank you muchly :)

    • @underdogoffroad9847
      @underdogoffroad9847  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for the great feedback! We will focus on our audio a bit more...
      It is sad we have moved away from the standard Holden/Ford for everything days and become so dependent on having all of the gear. I have found the tracks are still very 2wd friendly the further you get from civilisation and the people are more positive towards the attitudes on vehicle choice.
      Clearance is the big one. Older road cars had so much more standard. We have found all the cars in our videos car get to where we need with the current clearance. Plus I like the low centre of gravity and not drawing too much attention on road.
      White wagon has standard diff ratio and gold wagon has upgraded 4.11 diff ratio which makes car torquier at low speed and easier to crawl over rocks. But car does rev higher on highway. Red car has even lower 4.44 ratio which helps further. Diff locks we found more helpful then 4wd on chewed up tracks where you can lift wheels. 29” tyres are sufficient on 2wds for what we do and 27” tyres on the awds. All on 15” rims as the smallest rims we can fit.
      We try to keep it informative as I feel that the knowledge is being lost as people rely on gear to get them through.

    • @underdogoffroad9847
      @underdogoffroad9847  2 года назад +1

      As for auto vs manual- greatly depends on the vehicle, but in most modern case I would say the auto wins. For vehicles without lose range, such as Falcons, you definitely want auto as the gearing isn’t good enough to crawl over rocks without giving the clutch a hard time. Subarus on the other hand run completely different awd systems on autos and manuals. I prefer the way the manual system is better and has more upgrades so I believe a modified manual is best. For stock Subaru gearbox I would probably say auto.
