Another Esperance & surrounds exploration trip. Filling in the gaps between some of the places we had visited on our prior trip, 12 months ago, and to try some new challenges. We drove on countless beaches, climbed mountains, explored the coastline in a yacht, encountered dolphins up close, and even got bogged and unbogged! Our plan to traverse all the way to Point Malcolm was cut short however...

2WD Falcon & AWD Forester to Remote Offroad Bilbunya Dunes & Baxter Cliffs
Просмотров 11 тыс.3 года назад
Underdog Off-road Trip - Number 1 2WD AU RTV Falcon and AWD SG Forester visit the remote Bilbunya Dunes and Baxter Cliffs. Our vehicles aren't your regular kitted out 4WDs, but we can still show you that you can go offroad safely on a limited budget, even with unconventional vehicles.
Subarus are literally made for offroad from facorry yet none of them were marketed or kitted for it as such from factory which i never understood. They've got a great fulltime awd system, complete with the boxer engine which keep the centre of gravity low, even in their more top heavy cars like foresters and outbacks, so they are less prone to tipping. Never understood why they werent popular to mod among 4x4 guys
Foresters on a lift with the right tires are very capable off-road, you don't need to spend big money to get something that can handle itself in rough terrain, you just need big money to spend on the head gasket when it fails
learnt all this the hard way
finally lifted my fgs with rtv front suspention and on 28"s goes hard
Great video. Really shows your awesome skills instead of relying on 4x4 accessories.
"even if your vehicle isnt the most capable in the world" he speaks for the subaru not the au falcon of course as we all know an au can do everything
It really does pay for the old saying, slow and steady wins the race. To many people these days go for a Hilux or Ranger but our forebears didn't have that luxury and they did inland Australia and coastal beaches in 2wd cars. They too would have taken it slow and in most cases succeeded. I suppose the only reason that Ford Australia didn't advertise these car's off roading capability is because too many morons would do paddock bashing wrecking the cars and then claiming it on the warranty. But even dirt roads in our interior can be safely driven in 2wd cars for you don't need a 4x4 for a dirt road. Had friends with a farm 10km from a sealed road and they drove their bog standard NC Ford Fairlane in all weathers on the dirt roads and never got stuck.
The Australian counterpart of the Country Squire.
Great driving sub you love it mate
Are the RTV suspension parts still available new?
@@jimwolfe2862 only if you go aftermarket, such as Monro shocks and Whiteline bushes and so on
Yeah aussie cars were made and tested beyond city use . People from the 70's expected more than stupidly low sporty looking cars , pointless anyway with our rediculous money oriented speed limits. Ground clearance an lsd , tyre pressure and nouse , love it!
CHUCK A BARRA INIT
Around the 20 min into your video you said your not sure what this is about you were talking about the ramp of stones . What this was used for was for the unloading of sheep off the back of a truck. the truck would back upto it etc.
Bloody well done fellas
The trutracs are good too.
Id love to know what modifications he did to these falcons. Im thinking of doing the same with mine
The mighty AU FALCON 😁
This video would've been 10 time's better if the camera was in the Ford
is that white au from murray bridge
Western Australia, must be another one out there
Probably a dumb question but these road legal yeah?
Well done guys I have a Ford RTV Ute and absolutely love it. Keep it up Cheers
Be honest its got enough dings already.
Dont see many rtvs round now. But impressive makes my bf wagon seem bit one dimensional. Cheers
Awesome guys ! Serious hats off to you 😃👍 that AU is sensational ! Keep these vids coming
What size tires are you running on the falcon?
235/75r15 front and 265/70r15 rear
thanks for the info, i run similar sizes on my bush basher commodore. 28" equivalent on the front and 28-31s on the rear.
Great video and words. Didnt like the audio quality of voiceover.
Thanks for the feedback!
Where did you turn off the highway to this track ?
From Esperance, follow Fisheries Rd to Israelite Bay and then follow the track North East to the dunes and cliffs
Diesel Pajeros are known to struggle in sand as they are significantly heavier than a dual cab ute with the same power
Absolutely love seeing what you are able to do with your falcons ,this is the first video I have seen showing a 2wd in yeagerup and going up calcup hill ,me and my best nate have been doing this for years and we have never seen any 2wd at all ,by the way we only had Mazda 808 sedans with 13# 206 /65 rear tyres and a sand cover for the engine
You will become a truly great sand driver learning in 2wd. Big ups 👍
Great video - what time of year did you do the trip? I’m doing similar in May
Thanks, this was early January. There were a few dry salt lake sections between Israelite Bay and the cliffs that will turn muddy in winter to make things more challenging.
Just came across your vids . Great views great cars . Thanks heaps.
2wd 24/7
I bet you've fitted a lokka to that.😄
Yeah factory Ford vacuum locker in the Falcon and ARB air locker in the Forester
@@underdogoffroad9847 The places we took 2wds years ago was crazy, it's becoming a lost art.
I'm new to the party and loving your attitude and no fuss approach. I've been to all the places you've shown in my stock Ranger and to see you do them in your Falcon wagons is brilliant. I'm a bit over the outrageously tricked up 79 series 3.5 tonne van pullers and their blatant sponsorship schtick. More content please. (I've done the subscribe thing)
awesome stuff, don't need crazy cars to go see around Australia if you have the skill :) What do you reckon Auto vs Manual? I burnt out a clutch in my subaru impreza on boggy sand so bit worried about manual...
The thing that you are not considering is how much you are tearing up tracks doing it this way. The fact that you can get a vehicle somewhere doesn’t make it a good thing to do. Tracks are being closed all over the place.
I was spinning wheels, but the small road tyres physically can't dig a hole deep enough to bother a stock 4wd. The Pajero on aggressive tyres did far more damage on the day. And that is still nothing compared to what people on 35" muddies do. Locker and anti tramp rods also keep the ruts very smooth, unlike open diff vehicles that did the diagonal holes. Fair less track damage was done in the days of Kingswood and Falcons compared to today's big rigs
So does the other 50% of the 4x4 community with their 500hp GQ
Typically so ignorant from someone who will never know the pleasure of getting a 2wd into 4x4 only areas
great to see you are all having fun
Hey mate didn't you get the memo?? You can only do that stuff in 100k plus dual cabs or 200k plus Toyota's with every conceivable aftermarket option and every gadget from BCF or Anaconda.. well done mate those guys must hate seeing a taxi where they are haha👍👍
Missed that memo, I'll keep this in mind next time 🤣
Many years ago, when i had an HZ Kingswood wagon, I ran 265s on the back and 245s on the front. We used to camp on the beach all the time, towing a tinny. Only a couple of times had to pull the cut down conveyor belt tracks out to get out of trouble..
You are a complete embarrassment to the 4WDers with all the "have to haves" --- love it !! You need to do more videos just to really rub it in :) What model falcon is that? ---- just read the BA falcon above Is there a similar commodore? The Eaton auto diff lock as in the Mahindra utes would be interesting to try . I very nearly bought a 2wd Mahindra tray back ute recently ;)
Thanks Ian! Holden made a lifted awd wagon called the adventura. No rear locker, however would excel in this terrain.
Love this channel! Timmy C Arizona
Love your work. I have a lifted au wagon now. Inspired by you guys
Love seeing the Falcon get into the rough stuff, way more interesting than seeing the usual 4wds decked out in brand name gear
Hey guys awesome video, I've got an AU ute and a BA wagon which are getting a 4wd conversion, I like the snorkels fitted to the cars, where did you purchase them?
Hi Geoff, both snorkels are TJM. TJM make snorkels for AU and BA.
@@underdogoffroad9847 thanks for the info, with one of my cars I'm considering installing the V6 diesel and running gear from the Territory but I want a 5 speed manual box.
People needing 33s and a lift, 4wd triple locked and this guy just does it in a Falcon. I love it. I wish I knew more of WA to explore.
Do you think it's possible a toyota tacoma or light pickup with 2wd could drive the beach like this? Timmy C Arizona
Amazing water and beaches!! I've got to come visit your country. Heading to San Diego Friday to beachside camp for a week! Timmy C Arizona
5 psi...?? Very cool to see 2wd vehicles kicking ass like this. Beautiful country!! Timmy C Arizona
I think we were at 8psi rear and 12psi front most of the time and then down to 5psi rear when I got stuck and for the tricky parts. Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome! Guessing you were at 10 psi. Timmy C Arizona
Would have been about 10psi. On softer beaches we can go down to 5psi, however I think you are spot on with 10psi on this trip.
@@underdogoffroad9847 didnt know i could go down that low will try thx
