Love the Zwickey in your face at the start of the vid! My son, started hunting long bow during rifle season in MT a few years back. I was amazed he filled a tag on a nice mule deer the second year, and a raghorn bull the next! And, not in a blind as well. Always impressed with someone who can do it with a stick and string.
Nice shot! Nothing like hunting with a longbow. You can be silent and deadly so the neighbors won't hear and tell on you when you need meat. Mark my words, hunting will be banned at some point in the future. People had better get this skill down. Where did you hit this buck? Spine? Top of lungs?
Top of the lung! 🫁 and yes we like the quiet and deadly way 🤘
Excellent job!!
Very genuine and humble narrative and the right attitude at the kill.
Quite an accomplishment!!
Thank you 🍻 appreciate the comments 🤟
A pile of bait is not humble, it is cheating. This is not hunting, it is poaching.
Congrats on a great deer with such a challenging weapon. Appreciate the honesty in your narrative unlike some many videos out there. Very well done!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you 👍 yes hunting isn’t perfect and it shouldn’t be!
using a longbow in the middle of the pumpkin patch is awesome. everyone else chases the deer to you. i love using a bow and flintlock for the challenge.
The challenge makes it worth it 👍

heck of a job
great video, thanks for taking us along
Your welcome 😃
What a brute of a buck!
Congratulations!
Great old sled! Keep the clunker going!
I like the rigging equipment used in this video, how fun is that, I have a small saw mil, I can see some of this stuff coming in handy both in the field and near the mill as well. Good stuff.
Dale
Congrats from a fellow longbow in the rifle season shooter from Alberta. Great buck!
Thank you 👍it’s fun sticking to it
Well done Beautiful Buck this is your reward for putting the time in to be proficient with your longbow there is nothing like it
Beautiful!congratulations!!
Great buck!
that got my heart pumping 😅
Amazing video great buck
Congrats you’re hooked!!
Well done! He had you pegged..... and you still nailed him.
Thanks 👍 yes lucky he didn’t bust out of there
Very nice buck. Great video.
Thank you 👍
Great job
..Unreal.. Nice shot. .Nice buck.
Thank you 🤟
congrats! what a hunt buddy
Thank you 🍻
I'm Late to the video but well done I'll be hitting the woods with a longbow this season instead of the compound and I hope to be lucky enough to get a young uneducated deer much less a trophy like yours great work
I hope you get one 🤟 very rewarding regardless of size! Cheers 🍻
Great show, my friend, excellent hunting, I love traditional bows, for their simplicity and efficiency, another subscriber, successes always, all the best, Pauliano Quintão, Minas Gerais, Brazil!!!
Thank you good sir 🤟
Great Buck! Thank you for showing footage of following the blood trail. That is one of the most exciting parts of the hunt, but most people leave it out of their hunting videos.
Exactly! It is very crucial to learn 👍
@@tytanventures I think everyone wants to portray it as though there was never any question as to the quality of the shot. Sometimes a deer runs 100 yards after a perfect shot. Sometimes a deer runs only 50 yards and it's still takes some time to find it. The uncertainty of it all is part of the excitement.
Great buck. Congratulations on a video very well done. I love the longbow kill
Thank you 🤟
Nice to see another Canadian Trad guy!
Thanks John, yes they are hard to come by now of days 🤷♂️
Very awesome work. Congratulations ! Working on getting my first longbow harvest. No more compound for me
It’s well worth it in the end 👍
Good job
Nicely done my friend. In the state I grew up in, (Oklahoma, we could use archery equipment during black powder as well as rifle season also) I think here in Texas ( where I am now, since I retired,) I dont think I can, but I will be going back to Oklahoma for most of my hunts anyhow.
Nicely done on this buck young man., How fun is that .
New sub from Texas my friend. Keep up the fun videos and I hope you both have a blessed weekend.
Dale
Thank you for the comment Dale 👍 It definitely gets the heart pumping especially with a stick bow🍻
Congrats
amazing beast bro
Thanks bro 🤟
Hope she gets an opportunity!!
Nice work
Thank you 🍻
Excellent man congratulations I hit a deer in the same spot this year never recovered him so happy u did
Yeah those high shots are dangerous territory! 😬
@@tytanventures sure are
Really nice, primitive as it gets, I'm a bowhunter myself but I tore my rotator cuff and hunt with a crossbow now.
Thank you! As long as we all are getting outside and enjoying the wild it doesn’t matter what weapon we choose 👍
He looked so powerful drinking there.
Your lucky to have taken the deer hit in the back strap. I thought it would of went for miles. Good job!
Yeah it was a fairly high shot but the treestand angle helps 👍
Pope and Young with a stick bow 👍
Thanks for watching 👍
Just out of curiosity, what did the necropsy show when you dressed him out? Was it all I lungs or did you get the aortic?
Incredible animal!!!
Lungs! Thanks for watching 👍
Brand setup on the bow do you have? looking at getting my first long bow and could use advice
Martin bow, premium wooden arrows and Zwicky broad heads 👍
Nice buck congratulations what longbow do you shoot?
Not sure on the brand unfortunately 👎
New sub great video
Thank you 🤘
Can you tell us more about that bow (brand weight etc)? Robertson??
It is a Mountaineer long bow around 45lbs! Not a top of the line bow
good job. I had to use my dodge truck to get a buck today
Yikes 😳
did you use the front bumper? or rear?
how many HP you using?
Awesome job man. If you had to guess, how many yards do you think he ran?
I would think close to 80 yards 👍
@@tytanventures Very nice.
I’m surprised you’re still allowed to have that bow and arrow in Canada. The point on that arrow looked awfully sharp. 😂
Yup you have to make sure your broadheads are razor sharp before you go out and make a kill 👍
Elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes. hinds,... what's going to be next? Hummingbirds? The case is to kill something.
my cat was an incredible hummingbird hunter.
Awesome. What was your draw weight might I ask?? is this an English longbow?
45lbs yes it is 👍
Treestand -1
what was the deer eating. Was there some bait on that spot?
Yes he was eating alphalpha bales and barley 👍
You were so busted. Handsom deer. Congrats. What did the arrow hit? Top of the lungs? Not all that much blood but the hole was high. Thanks for the video.
As to our surprise it was a double lung! Dead center through one lung and caught the end of other 👍 thanks for watching 😁
Nothing better than a trad bow kill. Congrats
Thank you 😊
That was pretty shallow penetration. What is your total arrow weight? May wanna go a bit heavier. Heckuva buck tho. Congrats
Not too sure on arrow weight but the tip is 125grains, we are thinking to go heavier next year👍
Great job. How long were you sitting?
A couple hours but we sat all season waiting for this moment.
@@tytanventures brilliant. Nice shot after all.
That's nice buck. Very good video. I'd love the fact that you can actually see a good clean shot. Even though the placement wasn't the best, you even said that, but it was a clean ethical kill. Great job
Thank you! Yes it’s tough to get a trad bow kill on video, we don’t like to say we made a good shot when it is questionable sometimes! Try to keep it as real as possible 🤘
What caused the lack of penetration? Also, what was your bow and arrow setup?
The arrow turned out to have really good penetration it just pushed back out after the shot(about 18inches). Not sure on the make of long bow but broad heads are zwickey 👍
What about bow weight and arrow weight?
Bow weight is about 45lbs not sure the weight on arrow but fairly heavy.
@@tytanventures I'm not a hunting bow expert, but 45 sounds quite light. Especially compared to your typical warbow draw.
45 is a bit light yea but your accuracy is way better with a lighter bow
When y'all get old y'all have something to talk about oh, that's fine buck good job
Thank you! And thanks for watching 👍
I tried this in pa a year or two ago. Didn’t even get close to a deer
It’s very very tough to hunt with a long bow
How many pounds is this bow???
Roughly 45lbs
I harvested my first buck with a Ben Pearson "Rouge" recurve bow when I was 15. It's nothing like it. you just have to be picky about your shots and distances. Your buck is bigger than the one I harvested in 1979, he is a beautiful buck, Congratulations
Thank you 😊
What pound bow was that?
45lb long bow
So, were you hunting over bait?
Yes
I’m glad you found it. And congratulations.
Terrible shot considering the wide open , 10 yd shot and terrible penetration.
Лайк молодец
Учуял олень но ты его пересилил👍👍👍💥💥💥💥💥
Awesome 👌 yu smoked him!!!!congratulations on a longbow kill for the book
Thank you 🍻
You shoot the distance from the base of the tree to the target, not the distance you are from the target. Might be why you hit high.
Good to know! 👍
Nice work, your level of patience and nerves of steel are impressive.
You probably hit an artery nice deer though congrats!
That was sick too bad that bait pile was in the frame . Try it with out bait next time . Then we’d be impressed .
It's funny you complain about that but what is funnier is that it's been proven that the Native Americans used baiting techniques to harvest wild game.
by whatever means are legal. if it's legal, no need for complaining.
Is that bait I see hehind the log
Yup 👍
Native Americans did it so don't say it's "not hunting like the old days" 🙄
Yes it wasn't a very good shot .Must of hit the main artery.
It was double lung believe it or not!!
I wouldn’t shoot him, he’s too pretty
Don’t bring a girl in the stand with you and you can concentrate more
Hahah never heard that one ☝️
Dude unless you knew he was dead you gotta be quiet!!!
That’s probably a really good point 🤔
Angefüttert und auf 15 m Distanz- richtig weidgerecht!😡
I enjoyed your hunting.
But it was a pity that you seemed to lack your courtesy for the sacrifice of deer for your pleasure.
Don't get me wrong. I respect your hunting.
But there was a lack of respect for the life of the deer.
You have the right to kill deer for pleasure, but please behave with good manners.
Ngl hunting over a pile of bait is bs
Is it? Its been proven that the Native Americans used baiting techniques, and I'm pretty sure they were "real hunters"
@@projectredbeard2199 Are you comparing modern day sport hunters who do this for fun to Native Americans who hunted to survive and support their whole village? Idiot.
Is it wise to wear bright orange whilst hunting? Wont you be nore likely to be spotted by the dear?
cool video question Why would you drag it so far without gutting it..
When it’s -20 to -30 sometimes it’s better to get it home to a warm shop first
Funnel them, feed them when it is cold and then kill them.......Hmmm
ya, it's called feeding your family.
Over BAIT what the f….ck, big deal, real hunter….not!!
Do you even hunt?
@@ankilo5519 YEAH I DO, I’ve killed over 7 different species of big game including pope and young with longbows and recurves for over 55 years…..and I NEVER hunted over bait, no skill involved!!
@@greghaskell1676 Im surprised, how can a grown person behave like a child.
@@ankilo5519 because I’ve been hunting with recurves for 58 years and killed 7 species of big game and some pope and young and NEVER, NEVER over bait…..child …..I think your a CHILD for thinking hunting over bait is ok……grow the f..k up and don’t act dopey!!!!!
@@ankilo5519 also hunting over bait requires “0” skill…..no knowledge of game at all, put down bait than sit and kill, unfortunately guys like you are only interested in the kill not the true skills involved or the journey.
