Should consider getting you one of those phone holders that strap to your forearms. May be useful for climbing those ladders. Fumbling the phone up there would be an oof moment.
Nice few repairs. Seems like its a real benefit to have a good selection of capacitors, contactors and motors in the truck vs. having to do a one time trip to the HVAC supply house. I saw one contractor with a huge collection of them all organized based on their microfarads and all USA made. What a dream to see that on his truck...yes, a lot of inventory but he keeps tabs on what he uses and replaces them on his regular trips to the HVAC supply. I know it takes up a lot of room but CAPS tend to be the number one item that fails, thats what he said. It seems only fair for HVAC contractor to supply their customers with USA made parts when they have the option...if customers want China parts, they can buy them on their own. Its a sad day when folks call for professional service and all they get are Chinesium parts for the rather large cost to hire them these days. HVAC GUY uses USA parts so this isn't on him...others do and it seems wrong.
So much for the Made in USA products! I gave up on Titan a couple years ago because of just dumb issues like that! I only use AMRAD now and I just don’t have problems anymore and carry a lot fewer of them.
@@Paul-IE-Repairs I have to blame the HVAC supply warehouse(s) for this. They should be offering all high quality products for the HVAC industry, not the cheap stuff from China or cheap USA grade. I'm very sure there are better brands if they would stock them. I remember the name of "Hubble" when I was a teenager and their products were all top notch quality in electrical/commercial. I believe they are still providing only quality products but they are expensive.

BTW little Giant has come out with a ladder that has a platform you add in the rung that’s stable enough to support a large amount of weight and it’s great on your legs don’t have worry about falling down or legs tiring out it’s awesome a little pricey but well worth the investment
I repaired X-ray machines in Hospitals and doctor's offices. Talk about always in a rush. They would have you think people were dying while the machine was down. Lots of small stepper and synchronous motors in them. I hate to say it but the American ones were crap and would overheat and fail. The Japanese motors were great and would run forever.
I think that would be worth a phone call to Titan Headquarters as a contractor. Letting them know that cap just cost the installer time and gas. Companies need to hear about this so they can kick some butt in the manufacturing dept or quality control and maintenance folks.
All in a day's work. Things do happen, but we deal with it and keep stroking. Poor Riley, he'll be ok. He is in good condition, so he will bounce back. Have a good one.
Retired now but use to work in an ER. You would not believe the number of people that fall off of ladders. No one is going to pay your bills if you fall. You might want to turn down those types of jobs.
ALWAYS buy two you can always return it for credit and look at it before you leave make sure you have the correct hardware wires etc not damaged don’t ever trust the warehouse to get it right i mark my inventory with date and rotate it out after three months time consuming yes but I know what i have and it works when i need it too i wasted so much time and money going back and forth it adds up like you said had to pass on jobs because i was tied up with parts issues if you don’t plan to succeed you plan to fail
Can someone explain to me why they hang the condenser 10 ft up the wall instead of just on the ground? My guess would be so you don’t have to run the line set up the wall? Or on the roof?
I would have taken a pass on that job....not worth the money if you would happen to fall and permanently disable yourself. Rooftops are one thing but this is ridicules.
What would it have cost the builder to build a small platform for the condensers so you could safely work on it? 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Unbelievable what builders do anymore… I think in cases like this, I would upcharge for scaffolding 🤷♂️ Might be a good idea to pick up 2 capacitors when you don’t stock that size on your truck…curious if that was a USA cap or a Chinese cap
Those are rare and I'd walk from an install like that. I'm not risking my health, safety and life for my job. I'm dedicated, but I've got my limitations.
I knew you couldn’t hvac without throwing at least one bad word out there every now and then 😂

That was the first time I've heard him do that. Normally I'm cursing for him.
I think I have made sailors blush a few times when it seemed like nothing was working right 😅

5:42 I'm not comfortable on ladders either. Been like that my entire life.
What gets my goat with that one, it could have easily been put on the ground.
@@jthonn Probably in an area where copper thieves target coils.
@@BlenderRookie Probably so, dang shame.
wow! I have never seen that with a capacitor, crazy! 😃

Ran into needing that size capacitor twice in one week so I started keeping one on the truck haven’t needed it since.

AGREE...
3 weeks ago i had 2 brand new MARS contactors with bad coils, it burned the coil wire right off at the spade.

Those AC units would be better on the roof than hanging on the wall up high
That really give technician hard time
Scrappers/tweakers would love that.
Good old Rudd/Rheems in the 2nd ones are tanks...tons of those still going strong today.

I felt your pain on the first broken spade connector. The second one had me in tears both laughing and crying for ya...... ")

Get yourself a painters hook
It holds paint buckets on a ladder
Works well
Thanks Curtis, i enjoyed those three fault visits, i hope Rileys foot heals soon 🤔 Au

Nice work on all jobs Curtis.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for another great video...as a homeowner you've taught me how to do PM(to a certain point) on my HVAC and saved me over $500 in easy repairs!
Glad to help

Instead of calling "C" "common" I like to think of it as "center" (since it is the center tap between two capacitors.)
At 16:09 I don’t understand how the compressor looks frosted with those superheat readings. Assume r22 system from pressures.
I saw that R-22 is at the lower left of his app screen at 15:57
Had few customers with counter leaverd units Nothing like working off a lader hope ryly heals ok from his hay u all watch this moment 😮 👍

I always heard it "No one plans to fail, they just fail to plan". But we've all been guilty at one time or another I suspect.
Great job,Curtis!
Thanks!
I just have to hear Ted cook do it and my RUclips bingo card will be full
That last video is a prime example why I only carry turbo 200s and it’s 5 year warranty
Not a lot of money made, but you made other peoples' day by fixing their air conditioning!
Thanks for the patience. Great work.
I swear we’ve seen that first one before, if I remember the heatstrips weren’t working
My eyes could be deceiving me, but isn’t there an access panel to the air handler on the wall your ladder is leaning against?
You are raking it in ,and you only bought 1,that is tight.forget about adding a hard start, like that house is going to have ,great power supply
Nice Job Curtis!!!!!
Thanks!
Ohh wow you changed the filter at the business 4 months ago.
What happened? Did the terminal break off on the capacitor?
Spot weld didn't hold.
Great video 😊😊😊
On the 2nd call look like you had high superheat and high subcool and you said its fine. What happened there?
It was hot in conditioned space. Needed long time to settle out
Are you liking that open top tool tote better then your MCT bag?
Yes
Random question. How’s that ultra watch holding up in the hvac field?
Fantastic
Poor Riley. Get well.
Curtis, what brand of capacitor do you recommend for a outdoor heat pump unit?
Obviously not Titan lol..

Why change the cap twice?
Oh wait… somehow that part was shown twice. Where the spade connector broke off.
Contractors are like 30$ hell I even carry a couple used ones that I put on old system then when we replaced them I would salvage them
Those cinder blocks holding up that room addition or original room don't appear to be a great idea. No building codes over there?
