These are good looking knives. I picked up this one and the Trapper Basket weave up last month on cyber Monday. The Copper Lock had a broken back spring which made it impossible to unlock the knife without mechanical help. I called SMKW which is were I bought the knife from gave them my order number and told them the problem, I was told to send the knife in for warranty. This overall is okay, other than it cost me another $10.00 to ship it back. This made the knife cost me $42.00 overall, have to say kind of pissed me off. SMKW sent the knife to me broken. Well now that I have complained I must say the replacement is great, I truly like the feel and look. Great review keep the videos coming, Live Long Prosper and Collect Your Own Way!

I took a pass on that one Thrifty as a matter of fact I bought it and had it here and returned it….. it didn’t give me the fizz it’s a nice piece but it wasn’t for me!!!! Thanks buddy see you on the next one!!!! 😊
I have two of these black reserves. I have this one I got for the initial price, and a trapper for 28ish. I think they are a great "in between" if you don't want a full Reserve and or D2 steel. Fit and finish is very solid, in the 20 buck range, I think they are a screaming value.
Sent by Froggy. Looks cool. I like Italian switchblades but it's cool to see other knives. Frog gave me a few knives but my favorite is a bone handle Frank Beltrame Italian stiletto. He's good people. That's a cool knife.
I got one because full size copperlock are only just reappearing, and i find the mini too small. No issues with mine. Yes the handle is a fatty, but that's not a negative for me with this one.

Hmmmm. Not for me. Twice as much as I’ll spend on a 440 RR. Twice as much as I spend on any knife, really. I’m kicking myself for not buying it the first day. Great pattern, though. I’m going to try the Frost midlock version, just to get the feel of it. I like the look of this one, glad to see RR adding new patterns. That’s a sweet-looking blade.
Had it not been something I didn't have from them I may have passed. It's a good knife, but I can get a Brother brans like this and not have to pay for the box.

I think this is the best of the series so far. But I have the three that were just released (gunstock, razor, peanut), so we will see if it remains the best of the series. Good stuff as always brother 👊🏻
Liked your review but I don’t understand what Rough Ryder is trying to do. When they came out with the Reserve series it sort of made sense but I feel for what you get they are about at the top of the price point. But this series has no appeal whatsoever. This looks fancy! I love seeing g10. I think that's the reason for the price bump compared to other rough Ryders. It's very nice looking as well. Still watching just wanted to say.

I got a feeling. This new lot they have out, the fit and finish of an RRR with 440a. And a mid price. I think the old price RR’s are going to become that. Old and gone. No more cheaper prices. I’d pay the RRR prices with D2 but not this new lot. What do you think’s going to happen? Would be interested to hear Slippy’s too. And others. Maybe on a live? Dave.

I carry a lockback quite frequently. This one is probably a bit larger than what I'd use for an EDC, but I have a slip that fits it quite well should I want to.

Excessively large and/or elaborate packaging is a marketing technique designed to fool purchasers into thinking they are getting more for their money than is actually the case. Apple products are a perfect example of this, but the fact is that cheaper and size-efficient packaging, provided it offers sufficient protection to ensure safe arrival into the buyer’s hands, does not mean the product is cheap. This is a trick of psychology, like what GM did in the 1980s when it slapped Cadillac badging on the Chevy Cavalier, called it the Cimarron and inflated the price.
Only neophytes would buy a knife based on the packaging. Usually we don't even see the package until the knife arrives at our door. And if anyone buys a knife without checking the knife's specifications, then l would guess they get what they deserve. We should be aware of blade length and overall size before laying our money down...no box is going to make fools of us. So...the packaging on this knife is a bonus to make you feel proud of the purchase and the knife inside the box, not to fool you into making an unwise purchase. Take the box and be happy...there are plenty of real issues to complain about.
If Rough Ryder was an American made knife and this was a limited edition knife, say a hand made each one in a well established highly respected company IE: Buck, and was a limited run say 1500 knives only, then I could see the need for such an ornamental box. Rough Ryder is not an American made knife. They do not have a well established custom shop, they make decent quality knives for every day use that are of decent quality, definitely priced right and hold an edge fairly well. This is basically putting lipstick on a pig.
Talk all the crap you want to talk about "Made in China" quality.....Rough Ryder hands down has the BEST presentation boxes of any Knife company. I gave RR Knives as gifts this year, the boxes just made everything AWESOME!
Nice , but maybe a bit overpriced for the materials used , although fit and finish seem fine . The backspring problems are most likely due to a poor heat treat , but this is supposition on my part . Great review . 👍 ✌
That is a very nice knife. I especially prefer the satin, brushed blade finish on the blade; much nicer than highly polished. One minor suggestion regarding your videos. I am not interested in any kind of unboxing stuff. I have never understood why that is there. Thanks.

That's how I've received the Black Reserve series. Mid grade. A good knife, but the box is excessive and probably raises the price.

No I think it's a mid level series, and they are probably testing the waters. Regular RR are too successful for them to be eliminated.

Yes, I don’t get the huge boxes and the ones with magnetic closures. Once I get a knife, it is never going back in said box.
