COPYCAT PANDA EXPRESS BEIJING BEEF RECIPE | JUST LIKE TAKEOUT PANDA EXPRESS
INGREDIENTS:
1 pounds thinly sliced beef - flank or top sirloin
1 cup diced onions
1 cup diced red bell pepper
5 cloves minced garlic
3/4 cup of cornstarch
oil
Beef marinade:
Sliced beef
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. Chinese cooking wine
1/4 tsp. white pepper
1 large egg white
***Mix well and marinate for 30 minutes on countertop
SAUCE:
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp. oyster sauce
2 Tbsp. Hoison sauce
2 Tbsp. Ketchup
1 Tbsp. rice vinegar
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. chili sambal - chili garlic sauce
*Mix well
Coat each piece of marinated beef with cornstarch.
Fry beef in batches for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
Do not over cook. Remove and drain on paper towel.
In wok/pan on med/high heat add oil, onions, bell peppers and minced garlic.
Cook and stir for 2-3 minutes.
Pour in sauce and turn heat up to high. Bring to simmer and cook for another couple minutes.
Add beef pieced in pan and stir to coat thoroughly.
Serve and enjoy.

So many good looking recipes, so little time. We got a panda express around a year ago now I guess it's been. I've still never eaten there. It's gotten bad reviews all around. Which I normally take with a grain of salt and try for myself regardless what others say cause taste is relative. But in this case even my daughter and her bf said it wasn't good tasting and way over priced for the amount of food they portion out. I trust their tastebuds, we like/dislike the same things mostly. So anyway, I'd rather make recipes like these copycats and try them at home.
This one is mouth watering. It looks completely delicious.
I did this without a wok. It came out very well and tastes pretty darn close but took longer since the wok cooks it faster. The prep work and making the sauce from scratch was a pain. They used to sell the Beijing Beef sauce in a bottle but no more. Definitely recommend tendering the meat or else it will be tough. Good recipe!! It was a success!

Add a pinch of ginger powder to the sauce
Not sure why but the 1/2 of cup of water in the sauce was too much liquid for me. Sauce was very runny
the method is exactly like honey chicken or sweet and sour chicken................so don't need to learn
