    Learnings from this episode ranked:
    1. Discipline breeds excelence.
    2. Earn 1% of 100 people's efforts vs 100% of your own effort.
    3. Commander's intent: make the desired outcome clear.
    4. "A wise old owl lived in an oak, the more he saw the less he spoke, the less he spoke the more he heard"
    5. Complement people first then offer suggestions or critique.
    6. Find your personal product market fit.
    7. The ability to deal with people is as purchasable commodity is sugar and coffee.
    8. Find people's unique motivating traits.

Young men NEED companies that have strict discipline. The worst possible thing for a young man is unrealized potential.
Super crazy talented kids with crazy dreams but are stuck playing video games because it’s the only reinforcement they receive.
I know this because I was one of them. Thank you Sam. 💪 #totalman

I read stories like this for the same reason! Also love historical fiction of the American West for the same reason. Just finished another one of Stephen Ambrose's books The Wild Blue about WW2 bombing crews. Perspective is so important. In modern America we live like most royalty lived throughout history (or even better). Safety, security, food at our fingertips, clean water, protection from disease.

Neat video. Key insights from each of the books mentioned:
=> Key Learnings from Undaunted Courage
    - Punishment in leadership roles can be an effective strategy for maintaining discipline and setting clear standards for employees.
    - As a leader, it's essential to acknowledge that every individual is unique and is motivated differently.
    - Finding a personal product-market fit is necessary before starting a business venture.
    - Understanding how each of your team members is unique and what motivates them is a key leadership skill.
    => Insights from The Operator
    - The concept of a commander's intent is a useful strategy when planning and making decisions for your business.
    - Developing clear and well-articulated outcomes can give confidence to employees and provide a clear path to follow.
    - Finding inspiration and motivation can prove beneficial, even if the sources are unexpected or extreme scenarios.
=> Lessons from the Biography of John Rockefeller in Titan
    - John D. Rockefeller became very successful as a leader who recognized the importance of learning a skill before leading a team or starting a company.
    - Acknowledging the efforts of others and being appreciative is essential in leadership.
    - Listening to others more than speaking is an effective way to gather information for decision-making processes.
    - Correcting people's mistakes gently after complimenting them maintains their respect and their willingness to correct those mistakes.

How did you get that episode of the The Bear so wrong? It's literally not about discipline at all. It's about him finding appreciation in the craft and in the act of service because now that he sees it through that lens, every detail began to matter, every role now had meaning, and each is important to whole, which helps him finally feel a sense of purpose. That motivates him because now he can bring that deeper appreciation of the art and his newly discovered purpose back to the restaurant he's helping to open. It's about him finding meaning and self-worth at a place he was previously feeling lost at and felt he had no place in what it was evolving into. This was not a guy who was afraid to show up and put in the reps - he felt he had no purpose.

I enjoyed this a lot. This is my just my perspective but I'm not a big fan of the Hook/Intro. I've watched pretty much every podcast so I know that I will watch the entire thing when I click on the video. I will still watch and enjoy the podcasts even if there is a hook but it just annoys me a little. I understand if you decide to keep it, though. I will still watch everything. Just wanted to share my perspective.

Context is important. The man who was “disciplined” was an enslaved servant (some say he was promised his freedom after the expedition but didn’t receive it) which explains why he was whipped in front of everyone. This was inspiring to you?

Think before you speak boy that’s how you get toxic capitalism there’s a reason why monopoly laws exist imagine if there have been many lawsuits against Facebook for trying to monopolize social media can you imagine if such laws didn’t exist?
All information would be processed through Facebook even more than it is now, healthy capitalism needs to be promoted more not the garbage you speak.
