jack is the best. still remember how i cold-outreached to him ~5 years ago to help with our company's product hunt launches, and he went out of his way to help. that was at such an early point in the biz and i needed traction back then, so i don't know where we would be now if he didn't help. thank you jack.
1:03:22 Jack is practical by doing what makes logical sense after questioning the premises of what something is supposed to be or what you're supposed to do. The "experts" with decades of experience were unable to find the same conclusions Jack found after his one week of learning and questioning. Awesome.
Brilliant episode. Main takeaway for me was - have massive belief and take intentional action with full conviction that your goal will manifest! Dont take weak action
@Shaan and @Sam thanks a ton for inviting the smartest and most humble people like Jack on this podcast and sharing such wisdom 🙂 I am sure no school/college/academic curriculum can give such knowledge which we can get from people's experiences who have actually achieved, failed and learned throughout their journey.
I have seen multiple videos from your Podcasts and never subscribed until now...this session with Jack has been one of the best interviews to an entreprenur really above other "big" podcasts I have watched before. Great video guys!. ;)
Crazy how the universe works. A bunch of kids with cancer tried to manifest a cure but it didn't work. Insane how the universe cares about your startup more than kids with cancer.
Great interview. Learning theory/fundamentals behind useless stuff is a bit underappreciated, much like government funding behind fundamental research. Learning for practical needs/interests can and should come at any age, but a healthy mix of fine arts and science while in school ain't so bad for a healthy society (we don't just need a ton of practical learners who only go down technical or financial rabbit holes for their specific needs - this leads to more optimization in the long run vs. innovation). I still do despise my Music 101 course...but opened my eyes a bit.
Todd Herman’s book The Alter Ego Effect breaks down applying the “Sasha Fierce” idea. Lots of examples form business and sports in applying it for performance enhancement.
18:55 Amazing ideas start here, as well as demystifying some of the pop fin guru grifts lol ...btw this guys just gets better and better as the video goes on!
Loved the vibe. Shaan you put it well, Jack is not obsessed with competition, but knows when to go for it. Ironical how all rich silicon valley ppl are stuck in the rat race. We need more Jacks and Paul Grahams to show us the way to a truly enjoyable life.
I admire the financial independence of people, But you can live better if you work a little more. After watching this I think there are people out there, on the extreme, who plan to die early just to be able to retire early. To each their own but to me, retirement isn't just about not having to work, it's about having the freedom to do whatever you might reasonably want, such as travel, buying things, enjoying life, etc. I don't think I could retire with less than $3m in income-generating investments, maybe $2m at the very minimum. I plan to work until I'm at least 45
Nobody knows anything, you need to create your own process, manage risk and stick to the plan, through thick or thin while also continuously learning from mistakes and improving
Having an investment adviser is the best way to go about the market right now, especially for near-retirees, I've been in touch with a coach for a while now mostly cause I lack the depth knowledge and mental fortitude to deal with these recurring market conditions, I netted over $220K during this dip, that made it clear there's more to the market that we avg joes don't know
I’m not sure if this will be helpful to any parents out there that are having newborns. But when my daughter was a baby, there was this program called my baby can read. And what I can see from that program was that my daughter not only loves reading but she loves going to school. She loves learning new things and she already has an entrepreneurial mindset. She wants to be a corporate lawyer now and she decided this on her own, and it may change in the future, but I share this to say that my daughter gets perfect grades that is totally the opposite from me or her mother. I’m a young parent 34 and my daughter’s going to be 14. I haven’t always made the best decisions in life, but getting that program, for my daughter was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My daughter gets straight A’s, and I tell her all the time if she got B’s or C’s would love her the same. This coming school year will be her first year in high school.
i didn't go into full detail. but i was more giving one example of how I'd describe how law of attraction could work in a rational sense. but i also believe in it beyond that. e.g. how with quantum physics, we are learning that reality is maluable
Jack Smith, cool dude, very insightful. His insights on Nomad Capitalist are spot on..... I didnt realize Nomad Capitalist is re-marketing for lawyers, and not even an Attorney himself, its brilliant..
I personally enjoyed the Beyonce "Sasha Fierce" comparison very much. Fierce in this context doesn't mean literally angry it means "Ready to slay" "no fear"
interesting. So how do you think that those two things come into balance, that you think we would not get along with each other, but you enjoyed listening to me as a guest? i.e. do you think there are some personality traits that could be annoying etc?
@@_jacksmith03 The not getting along with you is not about who you are but who we are. New age child rearing ideas, experimentation with drugs, meditation retreats, even long hair, are as opposite to my personality as possible. It's not about your having negative personality traits, but that we would be very unlikely to meet at all and having met have very little common ground. On the other hand, I think you have very interesting ideas, speak in a very engaging way, and are completely honest in your answers, and I love that your attitude is "your listeners like specific numbers, so here are the specific numbers [that nobody else shares]" Also, I can't believe you replied to me. Maybe I am wrong to say we wouldn't get along. Maybe the correct statement would be that we would be very unlikely to meet, and if we met we would disagree about most things related to our personal lives, but nevertheless get along.
Awesome episode you 3 delivered it! Question for Sam though, what lights are you using while traveling to keep the quality of the video so high? Do you use elgato mini lights or which ones? Would be awesome to know 😁Or in general which camera etc like a setup probably interesting for the listeners as well :)
Build a school around a farm + drama program. All the skills needed for life will be learned (business selling tickets and produce, lit, math, reading, management, science, engineering, trades...). Plus it pays for itself.
A) He didn’t even pronounce Vipassana correctly and B) the primary benefit I hear practitioners talk about after a 10-day intensive meditation retreat like Vipassana is insight. Insight meditation can give one deep insight into who they are as a person and different aspects of their life.
Guys can anyone help. At 47:30 he talks about selling his shares privately. I would love to get into that business of connecting founders with buyers of their shares. If anyone has any tips would love to hear from you.
instead charging the service providers to get clients, the business model is to charge the client for the "right" catalogue of service providers? Is that like a reverse lead generation business model?
im working on building an app that i think will have a great impact on people. the issue is it is direct to consumer, so im not sure how to implement something like jack did by getting commitment. any advice on how to validate this beyond what i and people close to me think?

Thanks, Jack! I cried when you said the words I rarely hear people say, 'I just want to heal people.' Now to listen again to get your exact quote!
Fantastic guest! Could listen to Jack talk for hours, so many unique but great insights.
One of my favorite episodes to date. The interpretation of laws of attraction and Shaan's contribution to that was pure gold.
Legit a top 5 episode. What a fascinating and humble guy.

I rarely listen to someone and think to myself "oh this guy is original thinker", jack is definitely one of them, enjoyed it!
Original thinking like Jack’s is rare. His intentionality is like Steve Jobs. Please make Jack a regular guest.

Jack may be my favorite guest that you've had on. Awesome dude!
One of the best interviews yet. And I'm a fan of every single episode. Worth the RE-WATCH!!
