ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on RUclips and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
Thanks Cammy for giving our Junior Shepherds RUclips channel a shout out.
You’re welcome lads! Hope u get a wee boost from it 👏🏻
I have already subscribed and I’m heading over there now for some more sheep content 👍🐑
@@TheSheepGame good man cammy forgot to ask what body warmer you wearin the your other video pal
Your ability to talk with 8 year olds and adults with equal ease is really amazing . 👏 I love how the younger shepherds are quite knowledgeable and you highlight that. Thanks for the trip to the sale.
Thanks Lesa! I’m defo more on a level intellectually with the 8 year olds 😁
Absolutely love it when you get the youngsters a chance to get a few words in on their perspective, if only a few of them keep that attitude up for the rest of their lives, I think this world will become a better place to live.
Cammy, I love this. Your interaction with the bairns is great.
Thank u!!
@@TheSheepGame I hope a few folk will go across and subscribe to the twins channel. They’ve done some smashing wee videos.💕
This was fun Cammy. The children are adorable, and so smart.👍🙏💕🇺🇸🐑🐑🐑
Cammy, just want to say, you are brilliant with the youngsters. So many of them would just clam up and struggle with words to say whilst being filmed, but you manage to put them all at ease, smile even, that all of them are great on film. Well done!!❤
Kelso is such a tradition on the sheep calendar it was good to see a small part of it captured by yourself, pity the weather didn't play ball!!😂
Thanks Cammy!!👍🏻🐑❤
Thanks Tracey! I know i was planning some great drone shots!
I love to see the youngsters getting involved!
Great video, tup taxis lol someone def had their head screwed on there.
Genius!
Whenever you are at the sales it reminds me of my two uncles who had retired from farming. They still went to all the local sales. 🙂🐏🐄❤🇨🇦
It's lovely to see how super great your interviewing skills have become. Really enjoyed this one.
Texels are so popular. This whole video had me smiling. Glad you avoided temptation, Cammy. There were some beauties there from what you showed
I love to see the youngsters coming up with an interest in livestock and they are far more with it than I was at their age. Great to see that the necessary skills of livestock husbandry will continue.
Cammy , your interviews are so kind and respectful- love this video. Thanks!
Thanks Ann!
Loved seeing the Hervey Bay Queensland on the cap of Graham
The young ones are such a treasure and they know their sheep! I am impressed!!

Quite the gathering, Cammy, for sheep. Very nice to see young people as well as adults being interviewed.
🇨🇦 I’ve subscribed to the Junior Shepherds. No comments allowed so I just want to say, great job boys! It will be fun to watch your channel grow 👨🌾👨🌾
This makes me so happy to know kids are so smart

Fab video. Love all the sale videos.
Oh I thought it was social for the rams and the lady 🐑! ❤️
52.000 pounds is not in my pocket. Amazing how expensive those rams can be.
Love you talking to the youngsters. I will take a look at the Junior shepherds.
Maybe some savings before you can buy a star ram 🐏
love this kind of thing! cammy goes "interviewing"! x
A boy Cammy another good 👍🏻.
That looks a massive place to hold 5000 sheep & probably twice as many people with vehicles. I'd love a day out there.
Some top class looking rams 🐏 in the video.
Aye get over lad it’s a cracking day!
That was great! Well done Cammy!
You are the man Cammy! 👍🏻 Fair play to you too for making it on to the BBC 😁
Thanks Sean!
That was fun Cammy thank you. ❤️🇦🇺🏴
Man, I love seeing the Scottish version of the Suffolk sheep.
Great video as usual…love the farmers of tomorrow…..the kids were great
Great sale Kelso big money changing hands cheers
how did i miss this!
That was fun!
Good video as always Cammy. On a side note the trim is looking good to buddy
🤣🤣 cheers Glenn!
Brilliant Cammy just brilliant 👌👌
Like the golden fleece and the great bonds.
Anothrer brilliant video thank you
Great video Cammy😅
Nice intro Cammy
I saw you at the Yorkshire show
Enjoy your videos! Couldn't believe the difference in Suffolk sheep I saw on your video compared to our neck of the woods. Those boys have some body! Not just horse height legs you can about walk under and not much thickness.😆 I was very surprised to say the least.
Yeah our suffolks are much thicker than the NZ type 😅
Okay, when I see the numbers on the sheeps’ backs I imagine a giant rubber stamp like the kind librarians use. 😂
Not gonna lie, I'm going to miss the little Te Pari in the background of your intro.
I’ll maybe try and resurrect it 😁
@@TheSheepGame if you can't I completely understand. You gotta do whatever works best for you!
One looked as big as a pony!
good t see ya!🦌💌❤️🐑
Love the new intro and seeing all the interactions with the young farmers! Quick question for you: what kind of ratio between tups and ewes is typical and how many years work do you get out of an average tup?
Anywhere from 50-100 would be normal. A good fit tup should do u 3-4 years👍
💪🏼
hey cammy here in nz the place i work on will buy 35 rams a yr usally
Plenty good tups there would be interesting to know how many thousand pounds of tup there are there grate vlog!
I’d need to check the average! But must be a couple million.
I’d love to have a couple of sheep. I’ll have to settle for the hardest animals in the world to herd instead…my clowder of cats. JK, but we did get a new foster kitten today. He’s underweight and has an eye infection. I’m betting this is going to be another failed foster though and Fuzzy Boi will become a permanent member of our family once he’s healthy. It shouldn’t take long to fatten him up and heal his eyes.
Sounds like u will be very attached by the time u finish nursing him back to health!
hi there cammy looking for a rough grazing farm 200+ acers for hill type sheep was wondering if you had any good contacts or good location to look into thanks
Chicken! I love chickens!
Is the breed of rams orange naturally that color or are they ‘touched up’ to look good for sale? Sent in to the tanning salon!
Tanning salon 😁
@@TheSheepGame 😂😂😂
Subbed to junior shepherd's
🥳
Very interesting ,which is your favourite sheep breed?
Scotch Mule =D
Thank you for always answering
I came from Sandi's channel about a month or so ago.. And i got a question..Whats the difference between you and her when it comes to selling? She seems to just take them to a place they get weighed then she gets paid and then she leaves.. when you take them to sell yours its like an auction and there is no guarantee that they will all sell or sell for a really good price.. The way you sell and she sells just seem different.. Are hers being sold for a different use then what yours are being sold for? im just a little confused lol A little explanation would be appreciated! lol Thanks for sharing hun! 😁😁
Hi Vic, thanks for coming over. So in the Uk u have two options for selling ur prime lamb. U can sell it direct to a customer where the price is agreed before hand like Sandi does or u can sell at live auction. There are a few hoops to jump through to sell direct and I prefer the live ring option.
@@TheSheepGame ooh ok i get it now.. Thank you for the reply!! 😊
Sandi sells a lot for the meat market too, whereas Cammy sells to meat and replacement market.
Why are those sheep orange?
Must take a lot of balls to put on a sale like this 😉
I can understand you because you pronounce slow and loud, but I couldn't understand Junior 🤣
🤣 he’s a right Ayrshire man😁
🥰🥰💗💟💙🙏🙏
You need to help him with his audio..
Hope they earn something towards education fund.
Who’s that PJ? The junior shepherds?
Are there any blackface rams there
Not at this one Patrick. It's the most popular breed in the UK so they have their own sales because there so many of them
Not being rude, but can someone explain why sheep have such massive testicles??
Spent all my life around horses and these Rams are bigger in that department.
Hmmmm maybe because they need to cover so many females each?
👍👍👍
