Most people's jobs don't require them to spend a lot of cash upfront and put in a ton of work without a guaranteed amount in compensation. You've got nerves of steel compared to most of the folks I know. I have so much respect for all your and Lizzie's hard work. The boys are growing so fast!
Cammy , you shouldn’t have to disclose any of your personal financial information with anyone in the world because it’s your business. Don’t ever feel bad and please Do Not Ever let anyone bully you or make you feel like you have to apologize for not talking about it . If you want to throw out rough numbers of what things run that would be enough if it pertains to what you’re trying to put out there info wise . It’s totally ok to keep a lot of things private ❤️. People will still flock to you and Love you just as much. Thanks for being you.
Absolutely your finances should be private and in no way tied to the way you create your content. That is most assuredly not why I watch you. We love seeing your family and learning about sheep some things are to always be private😊
When I’m eating my lamb chops I’ll remember just how expensive it was for the farmer to raise this lamb to market size. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to sheep farming!
I love seeing all the sheep going into the ring and how the bidding goes. I can well understand your caution, especially when young Jock costs so much going to nursery! Great vid.
I enjoyed the auction and the explanations, and watching you and Lizzie decide together, but my favorite part was when you "took over the driving", the banter and getting the lambs out in the darkness! Long days and hard work all the time! But you stay upbeat and fun, wonderful to see.
It appears that if you land near the bottom of the list most of people are gone and your lambs will make less. Always great to see the family ! We love being a part of the family. It’s always nice to see the boys and watch them grow and change.
Not always ,sometimes a dealer just needs another pen of sheep to fill a lorry or a farmer who has made a long journey to market just decides to pay over budget rather than waste another day away from the farm having to travel to another sale ,this has certainly happened to me in the past but i have also experienced a poor trade at sale end
So lovely to see you and Lizzy with sweet Angus at the sale. I really enjoy the auctions; just glad it's you and not me! Those big numbers make me queezy😅. One little comment from an old lady: I so respected your rule from the beginning about no swearing, and proud of you for speaking up about it even with other farmers. It seems to have fallen away lately. I'm probably not the only person who would appreciate your care with that again. Thanks for sharing your time and family with us. A new Sheep Game episode always makes my day. 💖
🇨🇦 Stopping at 4:44 and wanting to say , I hope you buy the pen of the speckled faced lambs pen #349 just because they’re adorable 😊 Your new lambs looks great Cammie. Love the family day💕
Cammy, thank you for being so transparent. I have a handful of pedigree Shetland sheep that are basically pets, but I dream of someday making a go of it, and your videos have taught me a lot. I love seeing how you've got everything set up, and how you handle the sheep. The auction videos are great, and your videos of wool being graded and processed were amazing. Thanks again from rainy Seattle.
This was really interesting, I can understand you being nervous to bid, I’d get carried away and pay over the odds! This was a treat to wake up to this morning, thank you ❤
sometimes part of the money making is to wait till the end of the auction when everyone else has purchased, you job is to get the best price so you day pay was to extra 10 pounds per head you got 1,480 pounds to sit till the end of the auction I think is worth it
What I really appreciate is the career you left behind knowing the hard life of a farmer, and knowing the value of a man's mental health. You chose wisely in a farming career and a wife and you've been blessed by two healthy sons. You're very wealthy indeed. I'm so happy for you and Lizzy.
"It's all a risk." That's farming worldwide, Cammie. I remember one year we had the best-ever crop of wheat - and we got hail that absolutely flattened it to the point nothing could be saved the night before we were due to harvest it. Farming's a career where you must be willing to gamble against nature almost every single day.
Love watching videos hope you hand over a multi million pound business to jock when he takes over you’ll both make a wonderful Nan and grandad for his kids
I can see where bidding at the auction could be nerve wracking! 😬 So much strategy and timing involved, and you need a clear idea of what breed(s), size, and budget will suit your needs. So much on the line… Thank you for sharing this side of the business. So interesting. Hats off to you and Lizzie, you’re really great stewards and all-around wonderful people. 🤗
As always enjoyed watching your spectacular beautiful shooting adventures countryside content video and respect those hard working individual people over there and may God bless them all .. great video Sir and your beautiful sharing adventure documentary updated resume countryside as always appreciated, keep it up Sir .. have a wonderful blessing weekend to you and your beautiful family over there .. take care and stay safe .. Merci beaucoup Monsieur
U are so passionate about farming like myself im from Ireland 🇮🇪 ive only 40 acres im a suckler farmer i keep 35 cows and my own stock bull also 70 suffock cross ewes with 2 suffock rams we usually fatten the lambs after weaning and usually try to get them as near to 50 kg if we can around 45 to 50kg and even doh its a small farm uts still alot of work we make our own silage we buy in some off a guy we know very cheap but the biggest we have is bedding its 50 to 55euro for a round bale of straw i usually mow down any rushes on the farm an turn them with the hay turner and dat gets us buy a bit but we also deal in horses all year round and ive also i also have a part time job as well as the woman as the farm on its own u wouldnt live a top class life style off it and there is always something to be done
Always a treat to see this. LOVED one of the pens with texel darlings, they were amazing. The Suffolk ones you bagged there looks NICE! Lets see if there is a keeper or two in these batches, you never know.
I hope you will keep us abreast of these lambs all the way to when you get them up big enough to sell them. Glad you and Lizzy are doing well growing your livestock and your beautiful boys. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi Cammy. Hope you have success at the sale of your lambs at auction. There’s Angus , I think. He looks like Angus. And Lizzy is there with a nice family outing selling sheep.
props for the frankness on the money talk, as such a massive element i understand it being a pain that some parts you just aren't permitted to talk about given how enthusiastic you are on explaining everything you can about your work. but rest assured, we do appreciate what you are permitted to talk about :)
I appreciate all the business cost talk and the snippet about child care costs was great. It's the cost of the whole lifestyle and what you get out of it. Thanks
That second lot were some nice looking texels. I have a soft spot for texels as I had a sort of “pet” texel tup when I was growing up on my family’s farm in the Netherlands. He was called Jos (Jos the Boss, named after a Dutch racing driver) and I used to joke he was my unicorn, because he had a single horn that looked like it was growing from the top of his head. It was a weird deformity but clearly not genetic as none of his progeny had it.
It is also true of farmers in Wales. They do not want to disclose what they pay for X Y and Z. Even down to how many sheep do you own. I have heard them say that you dont ask someone how much is in their bank account so dont ask how many sheep do we have.
I feel the same way about auctions myself. I can never decide, until it's too late. But usually it's above my price range anyway. I did like those Suffolks.
Thanks for letting us watch the sheep jump off the back of the truck. It gave us a short look at what you bought. (Next time a little longer, please.) (Remember longer is better, we can always fast forward or 2x the speed.) 💖🌞🌵😷
Me and my ex went to a farmers auction once just as a day out. It was really fascinating and quite exciting. We had no clue what was going on so had to figure it out as the day went on. When we split she went and bought some sheep. I now have no way of doing so. Maybe when I retire, or if I win the lottery some time soon...
Well done Cammy and Lizzy, you held out well and got some at a price where you might have a chance, great store lambs, I'm not hopeful though of the price of finished lambs holding up this year, we'll see, hope for the best, those were expensive chicken n chips😗
You guys are getting great money for lambs! In Australia at the moment that large pen of lambs would be worth around 30 pounds! We are getting severely ripped off down here at the moment!!
Good store lambs. The money is okay. It wouldn't pay a sheep farmer to take any less than 80 pounds. I'm glad Lizzie got them. She is a great girl. 😅😅😅😅
ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE WITH YOU AT THE AUCTION, IT REALLY LOOKED LIKE YOU HAD ALOT OF FUN!!! ANYWAY, ALL THE VERY BEST WISHES ARE BEING SENT YOUR WAY FROM LITTLE OLD ME IN SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO CANADA
sometimes you dont get a lot of buyers but some may be dealers buying for a number of people ,so they may buy a lot of sheep getting a small profit per head from the people they are buying for
I'm from the Midwest USA and do pay a mortgage. Feeder lamb prices are very bad and feed is very high. Many of us have turned out out on grass which is plentiful (amazingly in August) and waiting to sell. It's a little tough! 🙄
Usually if u spook them they jump. U will see some of the farmers swinging their leg as lambs come into ring to make them jump. It shows they have vigour and makes them look good
Is that a normal amount of buyers in the crowd? Do the same people buy most years? Thanks for teaching about this aspect of your business. We have the same problem with rentals here and people over bidding to get land.
Yeah for a store lamb sale it is. breeding sales would be busier. There are several 'dealers' in the crowd who will be buying over 1000 lambs and will have orders from farmers.
Cammy, is this your first time BUYING store lambs? I’ve seen other videos where you sold your lambs as store, but I can’t remember any where you’re the buyer… love the video! -Catherine from NYC
Strong stores are always a numbers game there's so little to be made per lamb. Buying the smaller ones to sell on a rising trade later in the year gives you a better chance of a worthwhile return if you have the winter feed. Or a get out at a small profit if you're unable to get them all the way to fat.
Hi cammie love your content, Just bought our first batch of suffolk store lambs in, what all would you recommend to give them? drench minerals ect, thanks

So lovely to see you doing so well and in a position to buy stock in as plenty of grass this year. All that hard work paying off . Top job 👍
Amazing haul. Thank you so much Cammy, Lizzie and little Angus. 🙏💜
Always a pleasure to spend time with you and your beautiful little family (the sheep are great too!).
Good video you did the right thing waiting to near the end of the sale the price did go down a bit best of luck with your new purchase 👍
It appears that if you land near the bottom of the list most of people are gone and your lambs will make less.
Always great to see the family ! We love being a part of the family. It’s always nice to see the boys and watch them grow and change.
That is sometimes the case yeah

You won some lovely lambs there Cammy! In a few months they will be plump enough for the auction. Great job!
This was really interesting, I can understand you being nervous to bid, I’d get carried away and pay over the odds!

Thanks for the information. All the hard work paying off. Nice to see the family. Blessings to you both.

The ending illustration of the Sheep Family is very cute. Well done. Hope the new store lambs make you a profit.
Glad you got some good lambs. Angus is getting so big!!! And love seeing a bit of Jock at the end.

Thanks for “taking” me to the auction. Mr.Angus looks a lot like his daddy. Lizzie- beautiful as ever.

Awesome video! It was my first sheep auction. So exciting, thank you for sharing, see you in the next one.
Good strong lambs. Should do well. Good luck.
Always soooo exciting! Congrats on buying your lambs! Can see how that would be nerve wracking!
The store lamps are a bit cheaper down here at Bentham some were going for £60 to £90 pounds

Do you ever buy from the farms you know, so you can cut out the middle man? Or is that frowned upon?
These are up there with my favourites! I like when you talk numbers ect. How much did these weigh in the end?

texels were 32kg and suffolks 30kgs
