I set my washtub bass up a little differently, because I do not fret it. I just stretch the string to get higher notes. I also have fabricated a stick (4' dowel) that I can use to quickly adjust the length of the string. However, I did find your use of the rubber washers to be intriguing. I will give that a try and see how it affects the sound. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the advice. :-)

This instrument is way to quiet,Anytime a guitar is playing with a washtub all you can ever hear is the guitarist....
I've seen one made with a thick black rubber bucket........great sound, too!
You should get a different string and play it with a bow like a cello.
