I met Tom Wopat at the Marriott of the Town Centers in Charleston, WV back in I remember 1987. We were there on a weekend party bing and Wopat was in the bar because he was staying there. He was doing a book signing in the area that weekend. One Hell of a guy and real. He enjoyed himself as much as we did having him hang with us.
I can say this because i was there, he aint much on dancing but damn if he wasnt having a good time... Loved it and what a memory brother.

Tom Wopat commented that it's difficult to pinpoint the success in the show but we must admit that this was a different show that honed and respected family values and structure; and viewers wanted more of that.

The writers did a masterful job and personifying the General. When the General got hurt, fans hurt. When the General got stolen, fans felt a personal loss. That car represented so much more than just cool transportation. Add in the family values of the show and there was no way it could fail.

This was a terrific lookback on the show. Strangely, I've never seen so much as a single episode but I was always very familiar with it and how popular it was and I sure remember seeing the commercials advertising that weeks episode. Times were sure different back then and despite Daisy's short-shorts being her own idea, nowadays sjw's would rally the world over if they had a female character even think of wearing such a thing because today men are bad and women are just their poor victims. I miss the Duke period so much.

In an interview she said she came out of the trailer to get some food and she was wearing her pajamas which was the shorts and shirt. Someone... can't quite most likely the director.... saw her and said 'that's your outfit now.'basically what they said and yes I honestly heard her say it in an interview

@@joespitler3929 We all had our Dukes of Hazzard moments. 30 years ago I jumped a 72 cutlass on a hill a few miles down the road from me at a 110 mph with 3 friends no seat belts and blew a rear tire on impact. I went from one side of the road to the other about 4-5 times before it slowed down n drove it home on the flat and never did that again. I actually never drove that car again and sold it with the flat tire for $100. A year later they redid the road and removed the hill. We laugh about it today but we all know we got real lucky that day.

This is my lifetime favorite show ever. I can remember when I was a young kid watching this. I watched the pilot episode in the hospital at 7 years old. I watched it like religion till it went off 7 years later. Once it left the air I dont remember any reruns till Tom wopat got a gig on CMT in the late 90s and they played the reruns while he had his show on their network. And ironically I dont remember any coy and Vance episodes running in that time. Lol when it left CMT I dont remember reruns until recent years on me TV and I'm not sure it's even still on it. Prolly bc of the general and all the rebel flags and rebel flag tags on the cop cars I'm sure. As sad as that is its probably the reason I'm sure. Anyway it's fine with me bc my wife bought me the whole 7 season set and I'm watching them all the way threw on season 4 now. Only problem with the set is the episodes are not in true order. Like the season bo and Luke wreck Daisy's road runner and she gets the jeep. After that episode played there were a few that popped up where she all sudden was in car then back to jeep in the next. Also that yellow road runner started out Luke's in the pilot and then a episode or so later it was the "extra" car then it became Daisy's car till it was wrecked. And the general became both boys car when the yellow car became Daisy's it was like they were kinda letting stuff fall into place as it progressed in the first and second seasons

    • @Vanderearden
      @Vanderearden 3 года назад

Charles Greer: You're right about the continuity errors in the episodes order, but in truth, that's the way they were aired during the original run.
There's no official explanation for why that happened, but you can look up the episode air dates, and there are footnotes that mention exactly what you said.
Daisy has a jeep this episode, then the next episode she has the yellow car, then back to the jeep.
The same is true of Huey Hogg. The first time he shows up, there's a brief description from Waylon about who he is, Boss Hogg's nephew. The next time, almost a year later, there's a detailed description of who he his and why is on the show. Almost as if he's never been on the show before and he's being introduced as a new character.
There even an episode that was filmed in season two and didn't air until season three. Only if you watched the previous episode in season two, do you realize that the episode in season three has references from that previous show.

Yes but a good majority were beyond even radical saving. They had many that had no floors barely any structure over launch cage. And most good parts were salvaged. There was an actualy good car that was dropped in lake John owned, true 440 car, supposedly a fellow down south has it fully restored. The very first 01 Charger was found and restored a ways back. Honestly most had more bondo than metal, hastily paitned flag with medical tape border. Just for a launch.

I swear it John in his prime looks very similar to Smallville's Tom Welling when they were the same age. It made it easy, I think for people on the show who were not aware that Clark was adopted to believe that he was Jonathan Kent's biological son, because they look very much alike.

I hope there will still be companies out there who will release these in its full form and not photoshop anything out of it. I loved this show. So many damn memories from watching it when I was younger. I've been meaning to buy the whole complete set of this series for some time. I would always look forward to watching this show every day with my Dad when I got home from school. This show is also what made me become a Mopar fan and helped shape my dream car as a 69 Dodge Charger! The Rebel flag is not Racist. This is more to me than just a TV show.

One thing that was strange about the DoH was it somehow circumvented the 'Rural Purge' that CBS was known for. The only other I can think of was The Waltons. Maybe Dallas in a way. Otherwise the network wanted high rise apartments, oceansides, and glass offices.

I don't think it is hard to pin down why this show has maintained a strong following. Not too hard at all. In a world that is riddled with sinister minds that are constantly betraying the noble code.....we need to look into some direction for a glimpse of how life could be if only we all had the best intentions in heart and mind for one another. Instead of indifference and apathy we get to see genuine care and concern for the good health and well being of EVERYONE. Was no classification that made you worthy of respect and dignity. Just as long as your will was good you were welcomed. And also,if outsiders or marauders came around hatching evil plots...they met with the firey flames of Bo and Luke Dukes arrows that ALWAYS hit their mark! This show is big medicine in a sad sick world. I have a general lee model car that I will never build. I merely wish to preserve the package in prestein condition. Just like my memories of my childhood and how this show taught me to defend the weak. This show and others is what influenced me to take care of my community. And God has no doubt blessed all those responsable for producing such timeless and important material, many times over.

@@oakpineranch You don't know what you're talking about. It happened in 2015 when the fake outrage over the confederate flag was suddenly manufactured:
"Amid the ongoing national debate in America over the display of the Confederate flag, the TV Land cable/satellite channel confirmed they would no longer be airing reruns of the 1980s television series The Dukes of Hazzard"
"A week after Warner Bros. announced it would no longer sanction the manufacturing of “Dukes of Hazzard” merchandise featuring the flag, TV Land announced it’s pulling reruns of the 1980s’ TV series featuring John Schneider and Tom Wopat as Bo and Luke Duke in fictional Hazzard County, Georgia."

You really think Snopes is even accurate i you mentioned nothing about what you just now posted. You need to be more specific you little whiny shithead before you go on a little pussy ass rant. I’m old enough to remember seeing them on the original run. So yes my comment is correct from the way I read your statement. They fell out of popularity. As for the controversy, yes it was overblown. @@oakpineranch "The way you phrased your question I thought you were talking about when I was originally canceled. You mentioned nothing about what you just now posted."
What are you talking about? I didn't ask a question, and I'm not the one you originally replied to anyway. You replied to Scott Martin (he didn't ask a question either), and it was obvious that he was talking about the widely publicized fake outrage over the confederate flag from a few years ago that resulted in The Dukes of Hazzard reruns being taken off the air.
" You really think Snopes is even accurate"
They are about this, dumbass. Have you been living in a cave?
"You need to be more specific"
No, Scott Martin didn't need to be more specific, because it was blatantly obvious what he was talking about, given that there was only one instance in history where fake outrage got The Dukes of Hazzard taken off the air, and that was a few years ago.
"you little whiny shithead before you go on a little pussy ass rant."
Your non sequitur is dismissed, simpleton, as is your laughable attempt to redefine the words "whiny" and "rant."
"I’m old enough to remember seeing them on the original run."
Congratulations. I am too, along with billions of other people.
"So yes my comment is correct from the way I read your statement."
You didn't know what Scott Martin was talking about because you're an idiot.
"By the way I believe Snopes as much is I believe Wikipedia."
That Snopes article wasn't an opinion piece, moron. The article contains facts; facts about events that anyone should remember happening because they happened just a few years ago. Also, LOL at you being afflicted with Wikiphobia, which is straight out of 2005.
