  • Overcoming chronic pain is a progressive journey…
    And many times, I thought I had found the root cause, the perfect exercise, or the correct answer.
    But if there’s one thing I learned about going from chronic pain to pain-free, it’s that the human body is complex.
    And this realization can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. We can use this as an imperative to “let go” of our need to be the detective and figure our body out like it is some sort of puzzle.
    Instead, we can utilize a holistic approach that applies universal healing principles.
    At the core of this project, we need to learn to work *with the body* rather than against it. We need to build trust, connection, and resilience over time.
    The way we can do this with exercise is to start with restorative, corrective, or posture-based exercises and then scale up. The important nuance here is that we must address these areas with the intentions I mentioned above, not through the lens of looking at the body like a problem to be solved.
    So first, you can learn to listen and reconnect with your body through posture and breathing drills. Then you can then take these same positions, muscle groups, and movement skills and scale them up to build resilience.
    In the end, this resilience will transport you from the desperation and pressure of daily pain to a state of pain-free performance. It will also ensure changes will actually stick!
    It all starts with the understanding that you need to work with your body, not against it.
