  • @CommonCentrist82
    @CommonCentrist82 5 лет назад +7

    Hey Seth, great video as always. Being a first responder, I have some recommendations for you. I like that you have a first aid kit, that being said you should beef up your supplies. You should carry a tourniquet (you can strap it to your bike), some compressed gauze (preferably one with a hemostatic agent) and maybe even some chest seals (or petroleum gauze). I don't think bandaids and tweezers will be enough for the kind of riding you do.
    A lot of the times you are riding, deep in the woods. Help may take a long time to get to you. I like where your heads at though.

    A trick we used on our dirt bike levers was to warp Teflon tape around the bar, then re-install the lever. Helps the level spin around the bar with breaking when you crash.

  • @TtopMusic
    @TtopMusic 7 лет назад +5

    For the seatpost plug, covering the bar end in electrical tape works much better. You'll find it's a very specific fit - once you hit too many to fit, one single unwrap makes a beautiful perfect fit.

    WARNING FOR THE HACK OF SNAPPING THE DERALLEUR/HANGER if you have a full suspension bike, you have to pump your shock to the max you can, because of chaingrowth, that way you will be able to get the chain short enough in order to not drop as many chains, and since there will be no sag and no suspension, it wont stress the chain as much as if there were suspension movement, therefor no chain growth.
    You can check the effect of chaingrowth pretty easy, take you shock off, and put in single speed mode, you will see that the rear part of the bike gets supported by the chain, instead of just diving in as if you were deep in your travel.

    Zip ties and tape are essential emergency items to have in hydration pack. A few extra bolts like crank, disc and etc. If you are on multi day trip an extra hanger for rear derailleur could save you. Have used all these over last 20 plus years👍

    You need to keep first aid much more handy than that. First aid needs to be accessible with one hand when you're weak and have a hard time breathing. Should be in a pouch or something with a zipper or velcro

      The point wasn't that the first aid will help with breathing...odds are if you're weak and having a hard time breathing after a crash, you have other injuries that can be tended to. The point is that the first aid kid should be accessible regardless of your condition.

    Another great video Seth. I gotta hack for you, it's this kitchen device called a funnel. It makes pouring liquids into a small opening easier. 😂👍🏽 love ya Seth. Keep up the good work

    another method for the brake one is to take a large flathead screwdriver and gently pry the pads apart with it

      RML11 I bought a yard sale bike once for $20, and when swapping to riser bars, I realized someone stashed a couple of twenties in the bars. I got double my money back!

    On dirtbikes we use teflon pipe tape between the brake lever clamps and the handlebar and tighten like you did. This allows the clamp to move without scoring the bar. We also use bark busters to keep our hands from being smashed into the bar when running into trees.

    CAMEBACK-HACK: In order to prevent any smell and keep it perfectly sanitized, I use HYDROGEN PEROXIDE (5-12%).
    Fill it in a spray-bottle and when you finished your ride, empty the water and spray ~10x into the water-reservoir.
    Then close it with the lid (with little air inside only).
    Store it away.
    When you use it next time, just rise it with water once and then fill it.
    You can store it basically for 2-3 months without any mold or smell.
    Due to the H2O2, it will stay sanitized.
    I had this idea when I bough my Camelback and it is now 2.5 years old. I've never cleaned it any further. Actually it does not smell and is perfectly clear and clean.
