Hey Alex, one question for you... I am somewhat new to MtBing , I ride with one are due to an injury that left me paralyzed in my left arm. What's the best advise for riding harder. I.e. Jumps rough tails.
Suggestion for changing clothes: Open both doors and then drape a beach towel between the doors to provide the fourth "wall". You can clip it to the door top with clothes pins to keep it from slipping. I use mini-spring clamps. I also carry a "prayer rug" to stand on that has a waterproof bottom. Car floor mats can work but you may end up with mud in the car.
No. You're an idiot if you take a 5 minute nap. The scientific minimul amount of napping time that gives you energy is 15 minutes. Any less and it's a waste of time because you didn't gain anything.
"Now nobody can steal my bikes." Lockpickinglawyer would be through those Schlage locks in about 30 seconds. Fortunately, he's one of the good guys, and lockpicking isn't a common skill.
It's all fun and games on your road trip until you pull up to a rest area and hear from behind "nothing on one, click out of two, a little counter rotation on three"
“Since you guys are all mountain bikers, hikers, or outdoor enthusiasts at the very least...” Me, who watches this channel as a substitute for my absolute lack of contact with the outernet: totally
I haven't done "engine block grilled cheese" but I have done "engine block can of beans". Now with two items on the menu, I'll be designated the "Road Trip Chef"! Thanks Seth!
The engine block hack is great. Used it a few times through a winter when I was working for a tree service. Takes longer than a microwave but the end result is still better than a cold lunch in 30* weather.
I would just add 4 large hefty trash bags to this list great for everything for unexposed rain as seat covers to emergency ponchos a way to collect water or to tape between doors for more coverage when changing and so on
If you are travelling with more than one car, discord is actually really good for communicating with the other driver. The main advantage is that you don't have to use your hand to activate it like you have to with radios
I use the door trick when i get changed after surfing in the UK. Pulling off a 4mm wetsuit is soooo much easier with a door dressing room than it is a towel around your waist. Good to see others can now use it too!
Thanks for the chain and inner tube hack :) I’ve been tinkering around hardware stores on what to use on my chains to prevent it from ruining my bikes paint job. It’s a great idea!
Broh, you are just so simple, and that's exactly what makes your videos so great! You just don't try to pretend to be Love your videos Broh, anybody can see the effort you put on them 👍
I've made a similar chain, with hardware big chain! But instead of the tube I used a cable organizer wrapper (dunno the name, those spiral plastic to hold cables behind computers.)
You should always freshen up in the morning in a Walmart bathroom, bring a towel though to dry your face. One self-contained toiletry bag is a great idea. Also always have a good cooler, I recommend an RTIC. Alternate podcasts and comedy shows with music. If you can have a car or truck that you can sleep in, it makes traveling a lot easier. The baby wipes are a good idea. Also, a 2 liter Snapple bottle with a wide mouth works great for pissing while you are driving, only amateurs stop to go to the bathroom. Also, install a CB radio in your car, it makes road trips safer and more enjoyable. Truckers will give you hazard updates, speed trap locations and generally camaraderie on the road. Make sure to respect those 18 wheelers though, cuz they can squash you like an ant.
I'm a street motorcycle rider that watches your videos because you make great content. I guess I'm the outlier because I don't hike, mountain bike, or have much enthusiasm for the outdoors. Great videos my guy
This video really helped me with trips. As someone with Ulserative colitis and always thinking where the next bathroom is the bucket with the pool noodle is an awesome trick
Way late to the party, but have been crushing your videos. My quick tips for road trips include using your empty carbage can as your road trip bucket, in addition to keeping baby wipes in the car I always keep a couple microfiber cloths - great for cleaning sunglasses and windshields. Thanks for making awesome content!
for the dookie bucket : those dry leaves in the bucket are work great for killing odors . or save all your sawdust . works better than kitty little tbh.
You should do a video about First Aid out in the wild. Since eventually someone will wind up with a compound fracture, broken ribs or a gaping head wound.
Outstanding job on this video, esp the editing and music. As a former and recover truck driver I can say that I have experience with the heavy doodie bucket, but afforded myself no such luxury as a foam noodle! XD. For what its worth, engine block/exhaust manifold cooking is a culinary art. I suggest that one Never debate this with a trucker. my personal fave is the hobo dinner. Recipe follows: Generous amount of heavy tin foil Raw stew meat (cubed beef) favorite seasoning (Tony Chachers Cajun or Morton sea salt rub) various and sundry vegies (green beans, potatoes, broccoli, baby carrots, onions, garlic cloves, etc) Carefully and strategically place bundle all mixed together and double wrapped on either exhaust manifold or block at lunch time. Eat at dinner time after a long drive. Allow at least 30 minutes for bundle to cool in the truck before opening to eat. Enjoy. Also note that in winter time depending on your vehicle you may need to triple wrap it and place it on exhaust if your engine is so equipped. Those who own diesel trucks will find several placement options before and after the turbo.
On the chain wrapped in innertube, it helps to do it wet/soapy with the ends folded back and some sort of hard plastic mouth (like the top of a Gatorade bottle- depending on your chain size)
Take the dork disc off and remove all reflectors and that kind of crap and make sure your tires are lined up with your valves and put on a sick marsh guard.
This is a great Hacks video. Thanks for sharing. From the perspective of a fellow photographer and budding video maker, I am very curious how you managed that drone shot at 0:14. Did you control the drone from inside your trailer? Did you have someone standing off the road to control it? it's a great shot. Stay upright and keep the rubber side down. -Brian
Did you launch it from the truck as you were driving, or did you have to stop, pull over, get the drone in the air and then drive past it, pull over again, grab the drone and then get back moving? That cannot have been easy with your load.
+1 on the road tripping/camping bin. When the trip is over, just replenish everything and store the bin, ready to go for the next trip. No forgetting things or fumbling around the house trying to find everything.

Later I made a very small rack & mounted it on my manifold & that made a great oven. It’s all pretty easy to do.
For a comfortable night of rest, I baught this really cool mat that fits anywhere, just hold the seats, hool the anchors according to the instructions and I have a Queen size bed at my disposal. Along with some blankets, thin air mattess and pillows and I'm in a mobile hotel room. Or just do the van life and have a bike rack connected with the towing frame and it's really nice.

Haha, I use the car door changing room after pretty much every ride. The road trip looked like a blast, btw, I REALLLLY want to do this! I wish getting that much time off from work was possible, I can only take 2 weeks at a time :( And I'm with you Seth, I need to keep my front passenger area CLEAN, no matter how much gear I have crammed in the back. Oh, and while I don't much care for the look, your Ridgeline seems REALLY handy. I love the underbed storage area in those.
Haha! The engine block oven. Other than my dad who showed me, you have to be the only other person I've ever heard talk about this. When I started taking road trips friends, I was just as confused with the fact that they'd never heard of it as they were with me when I suggested it.
+1 for the carbage can, that's smart. As for getting changed, just grab a big beach towel, wrap it around yourself, and you've now got 360 degree coverage for when you're getting changed. You can also buy kilts for exactly this purpose. I combine the beach towel with the car doors for a little extra coverage and to make it less obvious to onlookers that I'm getting changed.

Public Libraries have the cleanest bathrooms when you're on the road.
Yeah, I commented on this also. There are so many options that are better in my mind than transporting a bucket of your own waste.
You ain't gonna find a library when you're driving through the mountains
