Hades is such a blast to play
Really is but what takes the cake for me is the ever evolving story and bosses/npc's u meat and fight has you progress your way further and further.
I’ve played Hades for at least 15 hours at this point (I got it for Christmas) and I didn’t know you could swap out different options on the mirror of night. Thank you for showing me this
maybe you couldn't earlier, it was added in with the 2nd to last update: Nightly Night
This is news to me too. Thank you
You got to pick up boons from 4-5 different gods at average per run, so Privileged Status is really better. Family Favorite is good when you try to focus on Artemis (her status curse is unreliable).
Once you've picked 4 different non-hermes gods during a run, those are locked in for the rest of it. Shop boons and keepsakes are the exception to this
Artemis has no status curse, she's all about crits.
@@jecrex8349 yes she has the "marked" status, which makes crits happen more frecuently
@@jecrex8349she does with the "hunter's mark" boon
Thanks for this guide, I think it's the most efficient, to-the-point one available from what Iv'e seen so far.
Started playing relatively recently (though I've somehow logged 90hrs over 20 days), and this helps a ton!
I agree with almost everything bar cthonic vitality.
It comes down to preference. Do you want a small guaranteed recovery? or do you want a big recovery every now and then, decided at random?
They both have their pros and cons. And I much prefer the pros of cthonic vitality. Namely the fact that it's a guaranteed heal, room to room. Though it is poultry in comparison to the heals you can get with dark regeneration.
But honestly, if you get a certain boon, or a certain hammer upgrade, you won't need either.
my preference is with chthonic vitality just cause it cuts a bit off the burden when I go for a quick chaos gate run
And some runs I've barely found darkness because when I did come across it there was a better room choice available.
and when you max the mirror out there is literally no reason to go for darkness (you can't even trade it at the wretched broker regularily, you need to wait for special offers)
Thanks so much for this! Your point by point breakdown showed me some seriously important dynamics that I had glossed over. Now that I’m using my bloodstones and stacking status effects properly, I’m doing exponentially better. Best!
Glad it was helpful!
Just a comment on dark foresight: gold and blue chamber rewards aren't really upper and lower tier, but rather run-specific (boons, hammers, poms, hearts) and permanent (darkness, gems, keys, nectar).
I perfer to get more blue rewards for long term progression, plus each can provide a run aiding bonus via the contractor.
I’ve played this game for 3 days straight and didn’t know u could upgrade death defiance 3 times lmao I would of beaten this game at least once by now lol
I just bought stubborn defiance immediately, haven't switched it off since
This is turning out to be one of my all time favorite games.....so good
I beat Hades for the first time after 20 or so runs before even knowing there was a whole different set of choices in the mirror, before knowing you could upgrade and change appearance of the weapons, and having no trinkets but Skelly's tooth. I was fishing all wrong too I thought you had to time it perfectly with the bobble of the lure not wait until it goes under water. I felt like a fool.
With cthonic vitality being 3 health per room and the average rooms per run is like 55-60 ish. Your looking at 170 bonus health healed. With the darkness healing one youd need about 285 darkness per run for it to be worth. So my question is what is the typical average amount of darkness per run? Curious to see the stats
around the third boss ill have 300+ darkness
dark regeneration is not even worth it if u have completed the mirror since u wont need darkness anymore... also if u go with that u will have to take the darkness over boons of gods when u decide the next chamber or u wont get health back limiting ur boons, and finally from my experience u don't get that much darkness in the last region but it has lots of small chambers which gives u +3 everytime u go inside of them. cthonic vitality imo is so much better UNLESS u are a starting player going always for darkness
@@en4bl3 Exactly. Cthonic Vitality is the way to go, unless you're farming darkness for some reason. But even for beginners, getting that 3 or so health per room can be more helpful than getting 20 after fighting a level boss, since you're gonna drink a fountain then anyway
3 health per room is better for me than darkness. Alot of time, i don't even want to enter darkness door if i can.
I don’t need a single level from a pomegranate and I certainly don’t need gems if I’m low health, between chaos being able to easily double the amount of darkness I get, Poseidon adding 50% and dark thirst adding 30% a single darkness room can heal me to full, making them practically fountains I have to fight for, and any darkness I don’t want can be sold at the broker for anything other than darkness. It’s exclusively better.
I don’t understand why people favour dark regeneration. You’re only gonna get majorly healed after each boss (and not even then if you’re grinding heat) which already happens with the fountains. Not to mention that in Styx you’re gonna be way more fucked with DR since there’s no darkness reward there and a lot of rooms; you’ll become entirely reliant on the well of Charon for your healing. To each their own obviously, but I can’t say I understand the preference.
Meh, charon sells darkness sometimes and will heal you for at least 5-6 doors if you had the other option, but all at once. And darkness rooms if you want the extra 5 max hp and no better options. Then basically a full heal after a boss if you're rerunning a heat
Stubborn Defiance is totally the way to go if you want to add heat and unlock things. Death Defiance is better if you just want to beat Hades and have already mastered the game otherwise. For newbs, Stubborn D is way, way better. You get to stick around longer, which means you get more experience, which improves your skill level. You only spend 600 darkness. It’s easy for someone playing on 30 heat to say “newbs should play with this weapon that only takes 30 titan blood to unlock” or “why not spend 2000 darkness on one skill?” But actual newbs have to carefully strategize. 600 darkness for maxed out Stubborn D leaves darkness for other good talents.
I can’t believe that I got 20 attempts in and never realized that you can flip those for different options! Lol. Thanks for this!!
Considering how little I get darkness in my runs over more useful items, that 3 health per door adds up over time. Mitigates Chaos a bit too.
Privileged status also works extremely well against armored units, they just melt.
It’s good to see others’ opinions on this. I think you are probably in the minority on a few fronts, though.
Most people will probably benefit more from using Chthonic Vitality over Dark Regeneration. Styx is arguably much more difficult with Dark Regeneration, since there is never any darkness to heal with. On the other hand, rooms are pretty short in Styx, so those small heals you get from Chthonic Vitality add up quickly and keep you healed up.
Golden Touch is good for one thing: buying things in Styx. If you are saving your coin the entire run, you’ll end up with enough to buy Charon out. Realistically, though, you’re going to buy a few things along the way, which digs into your final amount. There is also a huge advantage to Deep Pockets. If you choose to go to Charon’s shop early, you will actually have enough money to buy a boon if you choose to, which gives you a lot more influence over which gods you’ll use at an early stage.
Also, you will never find every god in a single run. The game caps you at a certain point and will only naturally offer boons from gods you already have. Realistically, you will only get a 20-30% boost from Family Favorite every time. Privileged Status looks a lot more appealing when you know that.
Besides that, I agree with your takes.
Thanks for the video! :)
Glad you liked it!
As a new player, I agree dark regeneration is going to be the way to go. I would say that when you have enough keys to respec your points in between runs and 2-3 bosses do not give darkness, it can be worth it to go with Cthonic Vitality for the 3 health per room. This can be especially true if you are struggling with the last level because that level you cant get darkness outside of wells of Charon.
The max out for chthonic vitality I believe is 3 hp
That’s actually, awful lol
@@LegacyGamingUS It's strictly worse for the first 3 regions, but some argue for Chthonic Vitality cause it's better on the final region cause it proc's on every little room in the room chain and Darkness isn't really found at the stage of the game unless you buy it from a Well of Charon.
Dark foresight I never really gave a shot, I wasn't aware it got buffed in the 1.0 patch, might be time to give it a 2nd chance.
It is said without wearing keepsakes you are limited to have four God's boons, plus artemis boon.
great video, good explanation
Huh, I pick almost the exact opposite of of you. What heat level do you play at? I used what you had but once I pushed past heat 9 it's totally opposite now.
Awesome. Didn't want to blow 1000 darkness on a boon I didn't like. Thanks!!
thank you very much!!!!
oh, i'm going to fight you on dark regeneration.
the regular amount of darkness you earn per room reward is 12 (with dark thirst, which i use literally always), dark regen heals only 60% of darkness earned
so basically, for every darkness room reward, you get like 7 HP
you might want to go for darkness in the early game, which i can see that he is, but later on this will become worthless
and don't you even dare saying "well bosses drop darkness when you collect their bounty", because you can increase your heat gauge to get new bounties
if you can't do that, then i'm sorry you have skill issue or didn't get enough upgrades to beat hades
and by the time you actually run out of bounties, you won't need darkness
and even then you getting like 2 darkness room rewards per region at most.
that's like 14 HP total.
in comparison to 15 rooms per region * 3 HP per room = 45 HP healed in a full region from chtonic vitality
Really good video, good job,
What can I do with keys after I opened all the effects?
Trade them, 5 for a nectar
@@EternalDensity thanks
Oh dear, if you are watching this video, you won’t get to the Temple of Styx if you aren’t spending your coin. Deep Pockets for sure. The people who can just ROFL the game without spending money so that the 15% is more than 100 don’t need anyone to explain the game to them.
I followed this guide and got my first clear right after. Attempt 40. 🤦♂️
36 runs, killed hades twice and still didn't know you could swap the mirror skills. :/
Literally the same thing happened to me. 44 attempts and 10 clears (attempt 27 was my first clear) and I have only found out yesterday you could switch mirror perks....
How do I unlock the ability to swap talents??
Nyx will talk about it after awhile. It's super early on.
My heroin addiction causes less withdrawal than hades.
I don't have the alternative upgrade for each upgrade you showed, it shows me only the first you have once you open the mirror if you understand me. Can't change the upgrade into the alternative option for a specific one. I only see the red letters upgrade.
How to mirror, press arrow on left
It'll naturally open up the 2nd option through a conversation with Nyx as you progress through the game. I believe when you get the green choices in the mirror is random, but it doesn't tend to take very long to get it. I think most get it within the first 12 runs.
@@BandOfTheHawk2 good to know thanks!
I am a bit frustrated with this game. I don't know why they did not make it where you can bring up your inventory of "items", the items used to buy things etc. While i am playing i cannot see anything other than my gold count. It would be nice if they had made it where when you clear a room and you have your choices of doors to go through, you should be able to hover over the door icon so that it tells you what exactly you are going into. And i think the biggest issue i have had with the game at this point, is with a ability i thought was going to be passive forever on the run i am on, and that is double dash. For like 4 days straight, i had double dash (click space bar twice and well, double dash!). Then all of a sudden it was gone, why? Boons disappear quickly, this was not a boon, it couldn't have been, it lasted for days as i logged in each time, why was it gone? That brings up another issue, WHERE CAN I VIEW MY PASSIVE ABILITIES THAT WILL NOT GO AWAY? I like the game don't get me wrong, i just have these issues that seems like they could have made things more easy to follow, less convoluted so you aren't guessing all the time.
dark regeneration is not even worth it if u have completed the mirror since u wont need darkness anymore... also if u go with that u will have to take the darkness over boons of gods when u decide the next chamber or u wont get health back limiting ur boons, and finally from my experience u don't get that much darkness in the last region but it has lots of small chambers which gives u +3 everytime u go inside of them. cthonic vitality imo is so much better UNLESS u are a starting player going always for darkness
Yes, & even if you're a starting player, that 3 or so health per room may be more valuable than getting a little chunk after you kill a boss, since you're going to drink a fountain then anyway
@@scarlet8078 I might be wrong here but pretty sure Life Affirmation also affects those 3 recoveries I remember picking it up and entering the next room and got healed for 36 which if that's the case that's even better I also think dark recovery doesn't work on all darkness only certain conditioned ones (I could be wrong on that tho)
Can you just upgrade them all and benefit from them all?
Eventually, yes (but you need to pick either/or for red/yellow talents)
5:40 how did he get a nectar from coin chest?
This might be a contractor upgrade, not sure
Stubborn defiance is never worth it. By the time you are far enough in the game to have access to the alternate skills from the mirror you should at least be able to get to elysium consistently if not get to hades in most of your runs making stubborn defiance a complete waste of darkness
How's he gonna do a video without maxing out the cheaper buffs. You can use the key and respec all your darkness. One key could maxed out most buffs then spend another key to got your old build back.
Great video like always :D probably dont remember me tho lol
You need keys not darkness to unlock mirror perks.
I dont understand why he keeps saying no spoilers but says some boons are good vs hades fights...?
How is that a spoiler ?
@@koohpa how is fighting ur own dad at the end not a spoiler...? Is the finnal boss reveal of a game.not a spoiler ? Wdym
@@Konnie88 You gotta be real dumb if you don't think you're fighting Hades at the end
@@koohpa yea you gotta be real dumb if u didnt think ur gonna have to beat hydra second boss or the sisters after u beat hades for the first time.. ugh, what logic, spoiler is spoiler, and the hades at the end was just one example, this vid covers everything
@@Konnie88 what importance does the hydra and sisters serve that you think it spoils the story ? If it is a spoiler, its a spoiler to a person with no common sense. You keep on saying spoiler but there is NO spoiler ??
Why would you make a video on these mirror attributes when you don't even have them all fully upgraded? You can't speak to their full effectiveness or even give proper info on them.
This video isn't very accurate and clearly this guy has barely played the game considering he only has 2000 total darkness which is less then 10 runs.
Feel free to tell me how it's "not accurate." Always looking for feedback.
Surely you're trolling.
While I do feel some of this information isn't perfectly great advice, in 10 runs I don't think you could get half of the keys you need to even unlock the entire mirror
@@MyNamesHunter75 damn it youtube, 8 months later I get a notification for a reply but never got the notification for the RUclipsr asking about what wasn't accurate
